Der Grundstein für die idyllisch im Rannunger Tal gelegene, barocke Wallfahrtskirche zum »Heiligen Kreuz« wurde im Jahr 1712 gelegt. Ein Vorgängerbau wurde um 1360 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Dessen Errichtung soll auf das Gelübde zweier Bauern zurückgehen, die bei der Erntearbeit von einem heftigem Unwetter überrascht und mit ihrem Fuhrwerk in eine äußerst gefährliche Lage geraten sein sollen. Aus Dankbarkeit für ihre Rettung errichteten sie der Muttergottes im Tal eine Kapelle. Bis heute ist die »Talkirche« ein beliebter Marienwallfahrtsort und eine Station des Fränkischen Marienweges. Eine Besonderheit sind die zahlreichen Votivgaben in Form von kunstvoll beschrifteten Tafeln oder lebensgroßen Kinderwachsfiguren.
La première pierre de l'église de pèlerinage baroque de la "Sainte Croix", située dans la vallée idyllique de Rannung, a été posée en 1712. Un bâtiment antérieur a été mentionné pour la première fois dans des documents vers 1360. Sa construction remonterait au vœu de deux paysans qui auraient été surpris par un violent orage lors de la récolte et se seraient retrouvés dans une situation extrêmement dangereuse avec leur charrette. En remerciement de leur sauvetage, ils ont érigé une chapelle à la Vierge dans la vallée. Aujourd'hui encore, la "Talkirche" est un lieu de pèlerinage marial très apprécié et une étape du "Fränkischer Marienweg" (chemin marial de Franconie). Les nombreux ex-voto sous forme de panneaux artistiquement inscrits ou de figurines en cire d'enfant grandeur nature constituent une particularité.
The foundation stone for the baroque pilgrimage church of the "Holy Cross", idyllically situated in the Rannung Valley, was laid in 1712. A predecessor building was first mentioned in documents around 1360. Its construction is said to be the result of a vow made by two farmers who were surprised by a violent storm during harvest work and found themselves in an extremely dangerous situation with their cart. In gratitude for their rescue, they built a chapel to Our Lady in the valley. To this day, the "Valley Church" is a popular place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary and a stop on the Franconian Marian Way. A special feature are the numerous votive offerings in the form of artistically inscribed plaques or life-size wax figures of children.
