Theater Waidspeicher e.V. is a professional ensemble puppet theatre founded in 1979. Since 1993 it has been run as a non-profit organization granted by the Federal State of Thuringia and the City of Erfurt. Since 1986, the theatre has had its home in the heart of Erfurt's medieval city centre in a renovated woad warehouse, an exceptionally attractive location that accommodates 142 guests. More than 25.000 people come each year to the 300 performances, to be enchanted by the variety of puppets and performing techniques: glove puppets, marionettes, directly manipulated table puppets and quadrupeds, flat figures and shadow theatre. The majority of productions are aimed at children and young people, however the evening performances for adult audiences are also very popular. Evidence of the positive resonance of the audience is reflected in the numerous national and international guest performances. The ensemble has toured throughout 121 places in Germany, in 21 European countries, as well as in the U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, Israel, India, Siberia and Turkey. Theater Waidspeicher ist the host of the biennial International Puppet Theatre Festival Synergura. Theatre director since 2009 is Sibylle Tröster.

Avec le Waidspeicher médiéval sur la place de la cathédrale, le théâtre dispose depuis 1986 de son propre lieu de représentation fixe avec 142 places. Outre le répertoire de 13 mises en scène pour tous les âges, cinq nouvelles premières sont présentées chaque saison. Plus de 25 000 spectateurs assistent chaque année aux quelque 300 représentations et se laissent envoûter par le jeu ouvert des marionnettes à gaine, à tige et de table, des marionnettes, des quadrupèdes ainsi que des personnages plats et des ombres. En tant que plus petit théâtre professionnel de l'État libre, avec une troupe de 27 personnes au total, le théâtre Waidspeicher est un important ambassadeur culturel de la Thuringe. En 40 ans, la troupe a été invitée dans 121 villes allemandes, dans 21 pays européens et, en outre, en Israël, en Turquie, aux États-Unis, à Taiwan, en Sibérie, en Inde, au Canada et au Mexique. Le théâtre Waidspeicher est l'organisateur du festival international de théâtre de marionnettes Synergura. La directrice artistique est Sibylle Tröster depuis 2009.

Es wurde 1979 gegründet und wird durch den Freistaat Thüringen und die Landeshauptstadt institutionell gefördert. Mit dem mittelalterlichen Waidspeicher am Domplatz verfügt das Theater seit 1986 über eine eigene feste Spielstätte mit 142 Plätzen. Neben zahlreichen Repertoirestücken für alle Altersgruppen werden in jeder Spielzeit fünf Premieren neu auf die Bühne gebracht. Mehr als 25.000 Gäste kommen jährlich zu den rund 300 Veranstaltungen, um sich vom Spiel mit Hand-, Stab- und Tischpuppen, Marionetten, Vierfüßlern sowie Flach- und Schattenfiguren verzaubern zu lassen. Das Theater Waidspeicher ist ein wichtiger Kulturbotschafter Thüringens. In über 40 Jahren war das Ensemble zu Gast in 121 deutschen Städten, in 21 Ländern Europas und darüber hinaus in Israel, der Türkei, den USA, Taiwan, Sibirien, Indien, Kanada und Mexiko. Das Theater Waidspeicher ist Veranstalter des Internationalen Puppentheaterfestivals Synergura. Intendantin ist seit 2009 Sibylle Tröster.
