Wo heute nur noch vereinzelte Mauerreste stehen, war einst das 1914/15 erbaute Kurhotel Sophienhöhe – ein Rückzugsort zur Erholung mit Blick auf die Hohe Rhön. Ursprünglich verfügte es über 80 Betten und war ein beliebter Rückzugsort für Gäste aus ganz Deutschland. Là où ne subsistent aujourd'hui que quelques vestiges de murs, se trouvait autrefois l'hôtel de cure Sophienhöhe, construit en 1914/15 - un lieu de retraite pour se reposer avec vue sur la Hohe Rhön. À l'origine, il disposait de 80 lits et était un lieu de retraite très apprécié des hôtes de toute l'Allemagne. La Sophienhöhe est un lieu de mémoire silencieux et puissant qui raconte le changement : la floraison, la rupture, la vision et la perte. Il incite à la réflexion : Que reste-t-il lorsque le visible disparaît ? Qu'emportons-nous d'un lieu ? Après des années d'inoccupation, l'ancienne maison de cure a été dynamitée et entièrement rasée en 1967 dans le cadre des mesures de sécurisation de la frontière interallemande.
