Die Dorfkirche St. Laurentius in Aura a. d. Saale wurde 1971 unter Pfarrer Josef Baumgart geweiht und ersetzte die Klosterkirche als Pfarrkirche. Der Bau entstand aus zwei Gründen: Zum einen suchte man während der Renovierung der Klosterkirche nach einem geeigneten Gottesdienstraum, zum anderen benötigte der Ort neue Räume für den Kindergarten. Mit dem zweijährigen Bau der Dorfkirche konnten beide Probleme gelöst und die Kirche gleichzeitig „ins Dorf geholt“ werden, um den beschwerlichen Weg zur Klosterkirche zu vermeiden. Die Kirche entwickelte sich rasch vom geplanten Werktagsgotteshaus zur zentralen Pfarrkirche. Im Untergeschoss fand der Kindergarten seinen Platz. 2006 wurde die Kirche aufgrund gerissener Leimbinder umfassend renoviert, erhielt einen neuen Innenanstrich und eine Stahlkonstruktion zur Sicherung des Daches. Besonders hervorzuheben sind das imposante Auraer Kreuz von 1995, welches im Zusammenspiel mit dem Tabernakel Zuversicht symbolisiert, die von Kommunionkindern und Firmlingen gestalteten Glasfenster, die alten Eisengussglocken der Klosterkirche welche nun vor der neuen Dorfkirche stehen sowie der historische Taufstein aus der Klosterkirche. Ein Marienaltar, ein Regenbogen über dem Taufstein und der Kreuzweg an der Außenwand verleihen der Kirche ihren einzigartigen Charakter. So ist sie bis heute ein lebendiger Mittelpunkt der Gemeinde.
L'église du village St. Laurentius à Aura a. d. Saale a été consacrée en 1971 par le curé Josef Baumgart et a remplacé l'église du monastère comme église paroissiale. La construction a été réalisée pour deux raisons : D'une part, on cherchait un lieu de culte approprié pendant la rénovation de l'église du couvent, et d'autre part, le village avait besoin de nouveaux locaux pour le jardin d'enfants. La construction de l'église du village, qui a duré deux ans, a permis de résoudre ces deux problèmes et de "faire venir l'église au village" en même temps, afin d'éviter le trajet pénible vers l'église du couvent. L'église est rapidement passée du statut de lieu de culte prévu pour les jours ouvrables à celui d'église paroissiale centrale. Le jardin d'enfants a trouvé sa place au sous-sol. En 2006, l'église a fait l'objet d'une rénovation complète en raison de poutres en lamellé-collé fissurées, elle a été repeinte à l'intérieur et une structure en acier a été installée pour sécuriser le toit. Il convient de souligner l'imposante croix d'Aura de 1995 qui, avec le tabernacle, symbolise la confiance, les vitraux créés par les enfants de la communion et les confirmands, les anciennes cloches en fonte de l'église du couvent qui se trouvent désormais devant la nouvelle église du village ainsi que les fonts baptismaux historiques de l'église du couvent. Un autel marial, un arc-en-ciel au-dessus des fonts baptismaux et le chemin de croix sur le mur extérieur confèrent à l'église son caractère unique. Elle est ainsi restée jusqu'à aujourd'hui un centre vivant de la commune.
The village church of St. Laurentius in Aura a. d. Saale was consecrated in 1971 under Pastor Josef Baumgart and replaced the monastery church as the parish church. The building was constructed for two reasons: Firstly, a suitable place of worship was sought during the renovation of the monastery church, and secondly, the village needed new rooms for the kindergarten. The two-year construction of the village church solved both problems and brought the church "into the village" at the same time, avoiding the arduous journey to the monastery church. The church quickly developed from the planned weekday place of worship into the central parish church. The kindergarten was located in the basement. In 2006, the church was extensively renovated due to cracked glue-laminated beams and was given a new interior coat of paint and a steel structure to secure the roof. Particularly noteworthy are the imposing Aura cross from 1995, which together with the tabernacle symbolizes confidence, the stained glass windows designed by communion children and confirmands, the old cast iron bells from the monastery church which now stand in front of the new village church and the historic baptismal font from the monastery church. A Marian altar, a rainbow above the baptismal font and the Stations of the Cross on the outside wall give the church its unique character. It is still a lively center of the community today.
