Geschichtliches Das ursprüngliche gemeinsame Gotteshaus der Orte Burghausen und Reichenbach stand früher auf dem Michelsberg: die Michelskapelle. 1716 erhielt Burghausen die Erlaubnis eine eigene Dorfkapelle zu bauen, die zunächst nur für Andachten genutzt werden durfte. Ab 1736 wurde auch die heilige Messe dort verlesen und weitere Gottesdienstliche Verrichtungen durchgeführt. Zwischen 1770 und 1780 wurde die Kirche erweitert. 1872 wird der Bau einer neuen Kirche am Burghäuser Ortsrand genehmigt. Im Herbst 1875 wurde die neu gebaute Kirche eingeweiht. Der Kirchenpatron ist der hl. Michael. 1881 wurde ein neuer Glockenstuhl gebaut. Dazu wurden zwei Glocken angeschafft. 1890 wurde das Dach nach einem Sturm neu gedeckt. 1980/81 erfolgte eine grundlegende Renovierung. Hier wurde auch eine Turmuhr eingebaut. 2017 wurden die Außenfenster renoviert. Ausstattung Bei der Kirche St. Michael handelt es sich um einen neugotischen Bau ohne eigenen Turm. Über dem Hauptportal sitzt ein Glockentürmchen. 1885 erhielt die Kirche einen neugotischen Hochaltar. Darauf stehen die Figuren des Petrus (links), des Erzengels Michael (mitte) und des Paulus (rechts). Der linke Seitenaltar ist der Mutter Gottes geweiht. Der rechte Seitenaltar ist dem hl. Wendelin geweiht. Der Altar, Seidel und Ambo stehen seit der Renovierung 1980/81 in der Kirche. Weitere Figuren sind die Strahlenmadonna mit Kind an der linken Seitenwand. Direkt darüber Christus am Kreuz. Die Figur des heiligen Antonius von Padua mit dem Jesuskind auf dem Arm befand sich lange im Museumsdepot in Münnerstadt und kehrte 2015 in die Kirche zurück. Am linken Trägerbalken der Orgelempore steht die Figur des hl. Josef, die von einem Rhöner Künstler stammt. Am rechten Trägerbalken steht eine Statue der hl. Cäcilia, die von der Trachtenkapelle Burghausen gestiftet wurde. Die Originalstatue des heiligen Michael steht auf der vorderen rechten Seite. Sie stammt aus der abgebrannten Michelsbergkapelle. Weiterhin gibt es zwei Gedenktafeln der Gefallenen und Vermissten des 2. Weltkrieges und die Gedenktafel des 1. Weltkrieges. Direkt daneben steht ein neugotischer Beichtstuhl. Historique L'église commune d'origine des localités de Burghausen et Reichenbach se trouvait autrefois sur le Michelsberg : la chapelle Saint-Michel. En 1716, Burghausen obtint l'autorisation de construire sa propre chapelle, qui ne pouvait initialement être utilisée que pour la prière. À partir de 1736, la messe y fut également célébrée et d'autres services religieux y furent organisés. Entre 1770 et 1780, l'église fut agrandie. En 1872, la construction d'une nouvelle église à la périphérie de Burghausen fut autorisée. À l'automne 1875, la nouvelle église fut inaugurée. Le saint patron de l'église est Saint Michel. En 1881, un nouveau beffroi fut construit. Deux cloches furent achetées à cette occasion. En 1890, le toit a été refait après une tempête. En 1980/81, une rénovation complète est effectuée. Une horloge est alors installée dans le clocher. En 2017, les fenêtres extérieures ont été rénovées. Aménagement L'église Saint-Michel est un édifice néogothique sans tour propre. Un clocheton surmonte le portail principal. En 1885, l'église a été dotée d'un maître-autel néogothique. Il est surmonté des statues de Saint Pierre (à gauche), de l'archange Michel (au centre) et de Saint Paul (à droite). L'autel latéral gauche est dédié à la Mère de Dieu. L'autel latéral droit est dédié à saint Wendelin. L'autel, le seau et l'ambon se trouvent dans l'église depuis la rénovation de 1980/81. D'autres statues sont présentes, comme la Vierge rayonnante avec l'Enfant sur le mur latéral gauche. Juste au-dessus se trouve le Christ en croix. La statue de saint Antoine de Padoue avec l'Enfant Jésus dans les bras a longtemps été conservée dans le dépôt du musée de Münnerstadt et est revenue dans l'église en 2015. Sur la poutre de soutien gauche de la tribune de l'orgue se trouve la statue de saint Joseph, réalisée par un artiste de la Rhön. Sur la poutre de droite se trouve une statue de sainte Cécile, offerte par la fanfare traditionnelle de Burghausen. La statue originale de saint Michel se trouve à l'avant droite. Elle provient de la chapelle Michelsberg qui a brûlé. Il y a également deux plaques commémoratives dédiées aux soldats tombés au combat et disparus pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, ainsi qu'une plaque commémorative dédiée à la Première Guerre mondiale.
