The city and district library in the Arnstadt Prinzenhof is a public institution whose main tasks are to provide media for general education, training and further education, leisure activities and the teaching of media and research skills. The library provides around 37,000 media (books, magazines, games, audio books, CDs, DVDs, games for Wii, Playstation, Switch and NintendoDS and end devices such as Tolino, Switch and Wii console) for loan on two floors of the historic building complex, as well as 127,000 electronic media via the digital library (Onleihe) and a film streaming service (filmfriend). In addition to readings by authors and books for various target groups (from kindergarten to school to adult education), the library regularly organizes training courses on acquiring media skills, with children and young people being the main target groups. Furthermore, the cultural and educational institution oversees the two outdoor activities on the grounds of the historic Prinzenhof: the storytelling trail in the inner courtyard and the book flea market from May to October.
Die Stadt- und Kreisbibliothek im Arnstädter Prinzenhof ist eine öffentliche Einrichtung, deren Hauptaufgaben in der Bereitstellung von Medien für die Allgemein-, Aus- und Weiterbildung, Freizeitgestaltung sowie der Vermittlung von Medien- und Recherchekompetenz bestehen. Die Bibliothek stellt ca. 37.000 Medien (Bücher, Zeitschriften, Spiele, Hörbücher, CDs, DVDs, Spiele für Wii, PlayStation, Switch und Nintendo DS und Endgeräte wie Tolino, Switch und Wii-Konsole) auf zwei Etagen des historischen Gebäudekomplexes zum Ausleihen zur Verfügung sowie 127.000 elektronische Medien über die digitale Bibliothek (Onleihe) und einen Filmstreamingdienst (filmfriend). Die Bibliothek organisiert neben Autoren- und Buchlesungen für verschiedene Zielgruppen (vom Kindergarten über Schule bis zur Erwachsenenbildung) regelmäßig Schulungen zur Erlangung von Medienkompetenz wobei Kinder und Jugendliche die Hauptzielgruppen sind. Des Weiteren betreut die Kultur- und Bildungseinrichtung die zwei Outdoor-Angebote auf dem Gelände des historischen Prinzenhofes: den Erzählweg im Innenhof sowie den Bücherflohmarkt von Mai bis Oktober.
