Die katholische Pfarrkirche in Althausen bei Münnerstadt ist dem hl. Cyriacus geweiht. Geschichtliches Der älteste Teil der Kirche befindet sich im Untergeschoss des Turmes in der heutigen Sakristei. Dort befand sich früher der Chorraum. Der spätgotische Kirchturm wurde um 1610 unter Fürstbischof Julius-Echter erhöht. 1748 bis 1951 wurde die Kirche, in ihrem heutigen Erscheinungsbild gebaut. Zuständig für den Bau waren regionale Baumeister aus den umliegenden Dörfern. An der Westfassade befindet sich eine Muschelkartusche aus Sandstein mit der lateinischen Inschrift: „PROPITIVS DEVS EST, HIC AVDIT VOTA ROGANTIS, SI PIVS ET PVRVS CORDE ROGARE VENIT.“, was bedeutet: „Gütig ist Gott, er hört die Bitten eines Betenden, wenn er mit frommem und reichem Herzen zu beten kommt.“ Es handelt sich hierbei um ein sogenanntes Chronostichon, was bedeutet, dass die übergroß geschriebenen Buchstaben als römische Zahlen gelesen werden können. Rechnet man diese zusammen, ergibt sich das Jahr des Kirchenbaus – 1748. Hundert Jahre nach dem Bau kam es vermutlich zu einer Sanierung des Innenraums. 1894 wurde die Kirche durch Blitzschlag beschädigt. 1958 wurde der Kirchturm repariert und 1970 saniert. 1996 wurde ein Baufallbericht für eine notwendige Kircheninnenrenovierung erstellt. Infolgedessen wurde die Kirche von Juli 1999 bis April 2000 saniert und am 16. April 2000 (Palmsonntag) das erste Mal wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Ausstattung Die Einrichtung im Rokokostil stammt aus der Bauzeit 1748-1751. Der Hochaltar hat einen sechsspurigen Aufbau mit den Seitenfiguren St. Peter und Paulus. Das Altarbild wurde von Andreas Herrlein, dem Bruder von Johann Peter Herrlein, gemalt und zeigt die Ermordung der Frankenaposteln Kilian, Kolonat und Totnan. Die Krönung des Altares zeigt die heilige Dreifaltigkeit Die beiden Seitenaltäre werden von je zwei Assistenzfiguren begleitet. In den dunkelblau gehaltenen Altarschreinen stehen links eine Strahlenkranzmadonna und rechts der Kirchenpatron der hl. Cyriak als lebensgroße Holzfiguren mit Bemalung. En les additionnant, on obtient l'année de construction de l'église, à savoir 1748. Cent ans après la construction, l'intérieur a probablement été rénové. En 1894, l'église a été endommagée par la foudre. En 1958, le clocher a été réparé, puis rénové en 1970. En 1996, un rapport sur l'état de délabrement avancé du bâtiment a été rédigé afin de justifier la nécessité d'une rénovation intérieure. En conséquence, l'église a été rénovée de juillet 1999 à avril 2000 et a été rouverte au public pour la première fois le 16 avril 2000 (dimanche des Rameaux). Aménagement L'aménagement de style rococo date de la période de construction 1748-1751. Le maître-autel est composé de six parties avec les figures latérales de Saint Pierre et Saint Paul. Le retable a été peint par Andreas Herrlein, frère de Johann Peter Herrlein, et représente le martyre des apôtres francs Kilian, Kolonat et Totnan. Le couronnement de l'autel représente la Sainte Trinité. Les deux autels latéraux sont accompagnés chacun de deux figures d'assistance. Dans les sanctuaires bleu foncé se trouvent, à gauche, une Vierge à l'auréole rayonnante et, à droite, le saint patron de l'église, saint Cyriac, sous forme de statues en bois peintes grandeur nature. Les quatre évangélistes sont disposés en relief autour de la balustrade de la chaire.
