La zone protégée FFH avec un peuplement forestier entrecoupé de vieux arbres géants et de prés-vergers offre un calme reposant et une nature presque intacte. Par beau temps, la vue s'étend loin dans le <strong>bassin de Thuringe</strong> avec son paysage plat à droite et à gauche de l'Unstrut. Une randonnée vers le Rote Berg doit absolument avoir pour destination le <strong>tilleul</strong>. C'est le point de repère et le blason du village, visible de loin. Il y a plusieurs centaines d'années, on chantait à son sujet, on écrivait des histoires et des poèmes sur cet arbre. Il est bon de se reposer à son ombre avant de poursuivre sa route.</p><p>La <strong>piste cyclable d'Unstrut</strong>, longue de 192 km, passe devant Altengottern.</p>
