Das Lutherdenkmal befindet sich auf dem Marktplatz vor dem Historischen Rathaus. Der Grundstein wurde im Jahr 1817 gelegt und die feierliche Enthüllung fand am 31. Oktober 1821 statt. Johann Gottfried Schadow entwarf die Figur Luthers, der Sockel stammt von Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Direkt daneben befindet sich das Denkmal für Philipp Melanchthon.

The Luther monument is located on the market square in front of the historic town hall. The foundation stone was laid in 1817 and the ceremonial unveiling took place on October 31, 1821. Johann Gottfried Schadow designed the figure of Luther and the plinth was created by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The monument to Philipp Melanchthon is located right next to it.
