Der Weyhershauk zählt zu den wertvollsten Gebieten im Biosphärenreservat Rhön. Auf dem naturkundlichen Lehrpfad des Naturschutzgebietes erleben die Familien das nördlichste bayerische Vorkommen eines bedeutenden Trockenlebensraumes, der aufgrund seiner außergewöhnlich artenreichen Ausstattung von landesweiter Bedeutung für den Arten- und Biotopenschutz ist.
