Die St. Michaelskapelle in Frankenbrunn ist ein Kleinod barocker Frömmigkeit und bis heute ein wichtiger spiritueller Punkt der Region. Geweiht dem Erzengel Michael, wurde sie 1718 erbaut – ein Datum, das noch immer über der Eingangspforte zu lesen ist. Der kleine, massive Saalbau mit seinem oktogonalen Chor, Satteldach und dem typischen franziskanischen Dachreiter strahlt schlichte Würde aus. Eine Seitenpforte auf der Nordseite führt direkt in den Altarraum. Am Altar befinden sich Skulpturen von Maria, Franziskus und Antonius von Padua. Die Originalfigur des hl. Michael wurde nach einem Einbruch aus Sicherheitsgründen in die St. Bonifatiuskirche überführt. Früher war die Kapelle ein bedeutender Wallfahrtsort für Frankenbrunn und umliegende Ortschaften wie Thulba, Reith und Hetzlos. An drei Tagen im Jahr fanden dort feierliche Gottesdienste statt, begleitet von Wallfahrten und einer besonderen Ehre für die Frankenbrunner Bürgermeister: das Frühstück für den Pfarrer in der Einsiedelei. Diese Tradition lebte 2009 neu auf, als die Kapelle zur Gründungsstätte der Pfarreiengemeinschaft „St. Michael im Thulbatal“ wurde. Eine Sternwallfahrt vereinte Gläubige aus acht Orten. Heute finden dort nicht nur gemeinsame Gottesdienste, sondern auch zahlreiche Hochzeiten statt – oft unter freiem Himmel am Freialtar. Zum 300-jährigen Jubiläum 2018 wurden Kapelle und Umgebung in liebevoller Gemeinschaftsarbeit restauriert und erstrahlen seither in neuem Glanz.

La petite salle massive avec son chœur octogonal, son toit à deux pentes et sa flèche typiquement franciscaine rayonne de dignité sobre. Une porte latérale sur le côté nord mène directement au sanctuaire. Des sculptures de Marie, de François et d'Antoine de Padoue se trouvent à l'autel. Après un cambriolage, la statue originale de saint Michel a été transférée dans l'église Saint-Boniface pour des raisons de sécurité. Autrefois, la chapelle était un lieu de pèlerinage important pour Frankenbrunn et les localités environnantes comme Thulba, Reith et Hetzlos. Des offices solennels y étaient célébrés trois jours par an, accompagnés de pèlerinages et d'un honneur particulier pour les maires de Frankenbrunn : le petit-déjeuner pour le curé dans l'ermitage. Cette tradition a été ravivée en 2009, lorsque la chapelle est devenue le lieu de fondation de la communauté paroissiale "St. Michael im Thulbatal". Un pèlerinage en étoile a réuni des fidèles de huit localités. Aujourd'hui, non seulement des messes communes y sont célébrées, mais aussi de nombreux mariages - souvent en plein air à l'autel libre. À l'occasion du 300e anniversaire en 2018, la chapelle et ses alentours ont été restaurés dans le cadre d'un travail collectif et amoureux et brillent depuis lors d'un nouvel éclat.
St. Michael's Chapel in Frankenbrunn is a gem of Baroque piety and remains an important spiritual point in the region to this day. Dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, it was built in 1718 - a date that can still be read above the entrance gate. The small, massive hall building with its octagonal choir, gabled roof and typical Franciscan ridge turret radiates simple dignity. A side door on the north side leads directly into the chancel. There are sculptures of Mary, Francis and Anthony of Padua on the altar. The original figure of St. Michael was transferred to St. Boniface's Church for security reasons after a break-in. The chapel used to be an important place of pilgrimage for Frankenbrunn and surrounding villages such as Thulba, Reith and Hetzlos. Solemn services were held there three days a year, accompanied by pilgrimages and a special honor for the mayors of Frankenbrunn: breakfast for the priest in the hermitage. This tradition was revived in 2009 when the chapel became the founding site of the "St. Michael im Thulbatal" parish community. A star pilgrimage united believers from eight villages. Today, not only joint church services are held there, but also numerous weddings - often in the open air at the open-air altar. To mark the 300th anniversary in 2018, the chapel and its surroundings were lovingly restored and have shone in new splendor ever since.
