Begreifen bedeutet verstehen Rainer Koch arbeitete mit seinem Team alle Daten und Fakten der älteren sowie der jüngeren Linie Reuss auf, stellte sie parallellaufenden geschichtlichen Ereignissen gegenüber und inszenierte beides äußerst einfallsreich mit dem Ziel eines nachhaltigen Wissenstransfers – und dem Wunsch, dass seine Museumsgäste Spaß haben. Forsche, spüre und denke selbst ist sein Ansatz. Das bewirkt er mit klassischen Ausstellungsstücken, denen er einen kreativen Rahmen verleiht, allerlei Mitmach-Optionen und von tiefen Kenntnissen zeugenden Texten. In seinen Museen nimmt er keine Deutungshoheit in Anspruch: „Jeder soll seine eigene Kompetenz spüren, Antworten zu suchen und zu finden, daher gibt es auch selten Führungen.“ ⠇ Museumsleiter Rainer Koch, ©Kathrin Schulz, Thüringer Tourismus GmbH Das Obere Schloss – Sitz souveräner Stärke Das Schloss verschmilzt geradezu mit dem Felsplateau, auf dem es oberhalb von Greiz ursprünglich als Burg errichtet wurde. Über die Jahrhunderte ließen die Fürsten ihren Herrschaftssitz immer wieder umgestalten und erweitern – nach einer Art Zwiebelsystem. Die baulichen Ursprünge des Oberen Schlosses werden auf das 12. Ausdrucksstarke Kunstwerke als Sinnbild freien Denkens Im Eingangsbereich werden Schlossbesuchende direkt eingefangen von dem Pop-Art-Gemälde des Gegenwartskünstlers Moritz Götze. Es zeigt die Heinrichs der Fürstenfamilie – der Vorname wurde durchgehend weitervererbt, sinnig, denn er bedeutet „Herrscher des Heims“. Mit dem modernen Werk wird zum Ausdruck gebracht, dass die Darstellung des Historischen keinen Regeln unterliegen sollte. ⠇ Pop-Art-Gemälde im Eingangsbereich vom Oberen Schloss, ©Kathrin Schulz, Thüringer Tourismus GmbH Nur etwa drei Prozent der vorhandenen Exponate werden gezeigt. Manchmal kommt Neues dazu wie ein prunkvoller Lustgarten aus Zuckerguss, dargeboten auf der Tafel des Speisezimmers im Oberen Schloss – ganz der Tradition des Schauessens an Fürstenhöfen im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert entsprechend. Durch die Historie sausen Mit dem farblich illuminierten Aufzug geht es im Herzen „der Zwiebel“ durch vier Epochen – Zeit- und Ereignistafeln weisen den Weg. Rot beispielsweise steht für die Jahre 1190 bis 1531 und führt euch in das Kellergeschoss, geprägt von Gewölben und Backsteinwänden. Ritterhelme aus Eisen, so schwer, dass sie kaum zu halten sind, lassen sich anprobieren. Eine Sammlung mit Gestein aus Steinbrüchen der Region, darunter überraschend glitzernde Exponate, motiviert dazu, sich näher mit der Geologie der Vulkangegend zu beschäftigen. Die Nachttopfsammlung lässt schmunzeln, Kinder meinen gar, es handle sich um Suppenschüsseln. Ein raffiniert eingearbeiteter Kamin im Wohnraum, Kemenate im Fachjargon, zeugt davon, dass auch im 13. Jahrhundert niemand gerne fror. Der Querschnitt des Schlosses wird anhand eines Modellbaus hinter Glas präsentiert. Drückt auf die Knöpfe der Vitrine und seid gespannt, was geschieht. ⠇ Schlossmodell, ©Kathrin Schulz, Thüringer Tourismus GmbH Geht die Aufzugtür auf der Ebene „Fürstensäle“ auf, entlockt es euch bestimmt ein Wow: alles hoch gebaut und licht, barocker Stuck an der Decke, aufwändige Raumverkleidungen, Kronleuchter, eine Ahnengalerie und eine der seltenen Doppelkapellen – bei Umbauten ist sie „in der Wand verschwunden“. ⠇ Eine Doppelkapelle ist ... ein Stapelbau – zwei Kapellen wurden aufeinander errichtet und aus akustischen Gründen durch eine Öffnung miteinander verbunden. Die obere war den Fürstlichen vorbehalten, in der unteren fanden sich die Burgbesatzung sowie Gäste ein. ⠇ Doppelkapelle in der Wand, ©Kathrin Schulz, Thüringer Tourismus GmbH Auf den Wellen der Geschichte surfen In einem der Bereiche wartet das Schloss-Skateboard auf seinen nächsten Ride. Mit Bewegungen müssen möglichst viele Ringe mit einem fliegenden Schwert auf einem Screen durchbohrt werden. Im Hintergrund laufen Szenen der unterschiedlichen Bauphasen des Oberen Schlosses ab. Im kleinen Kinosaal wird ein 3D-Film gezeigt, der Einblicke in Erlebnisse der Adelsfamilie bietet. Begegnet dort virtuell Otto Fürst von Bismarck (1815 bis 1898), dem ersten Reichskanzler des Deutschen Reiches, und den letztregierenden Fürsten Reuss Aelterer Linie Heinrich XXII. Jahrhundert zog die Fürstenfamilie in das Untere Schloss. Die Wohnräume sind heute mit Originalmobiliar und sehenswerten historischen Kachelöfen bestückt. Besonders informativ ist der Raum mit dem Greizer Stadtmodell aus dem Jahr 1899, umringt von Wänden mit detaillierten Manuskripten über die faszinierende Persönlichkeit Heinrichs XXII. Reuss Aelterer Linie – aufgrund seiner Widerspenstigkeit in politischen Belangen wurde er Heinrich der Unartige genannt. In den nächsten Räumen wird es persönlich: Hochzeitsstorys verschiedener reußischer Prinzessinnen gewähren tiefe Einblicke in die einzelnen Schicksale. Dramatisches, Berührendes, Romantisches – es kommt alles vor. Eine ganze Reihe weiterer Zimmer präsentieren Gedichte, Papiertheater oder Spielzeug von früher. When he explored the still unrenovated buildings, browsed through the museum magazines and archives – and took a closer look at the history of the Reuss family, he was quick to recognise the true value of the former royal residences. With strong characters such as Heinrich XXII, the family ruled the Principality of Reuss Elder Line with a firm hand for centuries. The principality covered an area of just 316.3 km² and was the smallest of the eight dominions in the territory that makes up modern-day Thuringia. Grasping means understanding Rainer Koch and his team worked through all the data and facts about the elder and younger lines of the House of Reuss, compared them with historical events that were happening at the same time and presented both lines in an extremely imaginative way. His aim was to bring about a lasting transfer of knowledge and for museum visitors to enjoy themselves. His approach is all about researching, perceiving and thinking for oneself. He achieves this with traditional exhibits put into a creative setting, all kinds of interactive options and texts that foster an in-depth understanding. In his museums, he does not claim any prerogative of interpretation: “everyone should have a sense of their own ability to look for and find answers. Over the centuries, the princes kept remodelling and extending their castle, leaving behind layers of history in the process. Expressive artworks as a symbol of free thinking In the entrance area, the first thing that visitors to the castle see is the Pop Art painting by the contemporary artist Moritz Götze. It shows the Heinrichs of the Reuss Elder Line – the name was passed down throughout the line and appropriately means “Ruler of the Home”. Occasionally something new is added, such as a magnificent pleasure garden made of icing sugar presented on the dining table in the Upper Castle – following the tradition of confectionery centrepieces at royal courts in the 17th and 18th centuries. Hurtling through history A lift lit up with coloured lights takes you through four eras – panels showing dates and events point the way, For example, red stands for the years 1190 to 1531 and takes you to the basement, which is characterised by arches and brick walls. You can try on iron helmets which are almost too heavy to hold. A collection of rocks from local quarries, including surprisingly glittering exhibits, will motivate you to take a closer look at the geology of the volcanic region. A collection of chamber pots will make you smile. Children think that they are soup bowls. An artfully built-in fireplace in the bower bears witness to the fact that no one like to freeze in the 13th century either. A cross-section of the castle is presented with the help of a model in a glass display case. Press the buttons and see what happens. ⠇ Rock collection, ©Kathrin Schulz, Thüringer Tourismus GmbH When the lift door opens at the level of the “prince’s halls”, you are sure to experience a “wow” moment: all the rooms high-ceilinged and light, Baroque stucco on the ceiling, elaborate panelling, chandeliers, an ancestral portrait gallery and a rare double chapel – it “disappeared into the wall” during building alterations. ⠇ A double chapel is ... a two-storey structure with two chapels built on top of one another and connected to one another with an aperture for acoustic reasons. On a screen, a flying sword must go through as many rings as possible, controlled by your movements. Scenes of the different stages of construction of the Upper Castle are played in the background. In the small auditorium, a 3D film is show that gives insights into the experiences of the noble family. Here, you will encounter Otto Fürst von Bismarck (1815 to 1898), the first Chancellor of the German Empire, and Heinrich XXII (1846 to 1902), the last reigning prince of the Reuss Elder Line. Today, the living rooms are furnished with original furniture and attractive historical tiled stones. The room containing a model of the town of Greiz from the year 1899, surrounded by walls featuring detailed manuscripts about the fascinating Heinrich XXII. A prince in the Reuss Elder Line, he was known as “Heinrich the Unruly” because of his recalcitrance with regard to political issues. In the next rooms, the exhibition gets personal: wedding stories of various princesses from the House of Reuss offer a deep insight into their individual fates. Dramatic, touching, romantic – you will find it all here. A whole series of other rooms present poems, paper theatres or toys of times gone by. Kolekcja minerałów z lokalnych kamieniołomów, w tym eksponaty zaskakujące swoim blaskiem, motywuje do bliższego przyjrzenia się geologii tego wulkanicznego regionu. Śmieszy kolekcja nocników, które dzieci biorą czasem za wazy do zupy. Kominek w przemyślany sposób wkomponowany w pokoju mieszkalnym, zwanym po niemiecku „kemenatą”, czyli „izbą z piecem”, a po polsku, jak łatwo zgadnąć, komnatą, dowodzi, że także w XIII wieku nikt nie lubił marznąć. Pomieszczenia są wysokie i jasne, sufity zdobią barokowe sztukaterie i żyrandole, a na ścianach wspaniałe okładziny i okazała galeria przodków. Ciekawostką jest jedna z rzadkich kaplic dwupoziomowych, która podczas przebudowy dosłownie „zniknęła w ścianie”. ⠇ Kaplica dwupoziomowa to ... budowla piętrowa – dwie kaplice wzniesione jedna nad drugą, połączone otworem w stropie dla lepszej akustyki. Stojąc na niej, trzeba przebijać pojawiające się pierścienie sterowanym na ekranie wirtualnym mieczem. W tle pojawiają się wizualizacje różnych faz budowy Górnego Zamku. Dziś pokoje mieszkalne wyposażone są w oryginalne meble i piękne zabytkowe piece kaflowe. Warto zatrzymać się przy makiecie miasta z 1899 roku, otoczonej manuskryptami opisującymi fascynującą postać Henryka XXII linii starszej. Ze względu na swój upór w sprawach politycznych zyskał on przydomek „Henryka Krnąbrnego”. W dalszych pomieszczeniach panuje już bardziej prywatny klimat: historie ślubne różnych księżniczek z rodu Reuss odsłaniają ich osobiste losy: dramatyczne, wzruszające i romantyczne. Kolejne pokoje pełne są wierszy, teatrzyków papierowych i dawnych zabawek. Über die Jahrhunderte ließen die Fürsten ihren Herrschaftssitz immer wieder umgestalten und erweitern – nach einer Art Zwiebelsystem. Die baulichen Ursprünge des Oberen Schlosses werden auf das 12. Es zeigt die Heinrichs der Fürstenfamilie – der Vorname wurde durchgehend weitervererbt, sinnig, denn er bedeutet „Herrscher des Heims“. Manchmal kommt Neues dazu wie ein prunkvoller Lustgarten aus Zuckerguss, dargeboten auf der Tafel des Speisezimmers im Oberen Schloss – ganz der Tradition des Schauessens an Fürstenhöfen im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert entsprechend.</p> <h3>Durch die Historie sausen</h3> <p>Mit dem farblich illuminierten Aufzug geht es im Herzen „der Zwiebel“ durch vier Epochen – Zeit- und Ereignistafeln weisen den Weg. Rot beispielsweise steht für die Jahre 1190 bis 1531 und führt euch in das Kellergeschoss, geprägt von Gewölben und Backsteinwänden. Ritterhelme aus Eisen, so schwer, dass sie kaum zu halten sind, lassen sich anprobieren. Eine Sammlung mit Gestein aus Steinbrüchen der Region, darunter überraschend glitzernde Exponate, motiviert dazu, sich näher mit der Geologie der Vulkangegend zu beschäftigen. Die Nachttopfsammlung lässt schmunzeln, Kinder meinen gar, es handle sich um Suppenschüsseln. Ein raffiniert eingearbeiteter Kamin im Wohnraum, Kemenate im Fachjargon, zeugt davon, dass auch im 13. Jahrhundert niemand gerne fror. Der Querschnitt des Schlosses wird anhand eines Modellbaus hinter Glas präsentiert. Mit Bewegungen müssen möglichst viele Ringe mit einem fliegenden Schwert auf einem Screen durchbohrt werden. Im Hintergrund laufen Szenen der unterschiedlichen Bauphasen des Oberen Schlosses ab. Im kleinen Kinosaal wird ein 3D-Film gezeigt, der Einblicke in Erlebnisse der Adelsfamilie bietet. Begegnet dort virtuell Otto Fürst von Bismarck (1815 bis 1898), dem ersten Reichskanzler des Deutschen Reiches, und den letztregierenden Fürsten Reuss Aelterer Linie Heinrich XXII. Jahrhundert zog die Fürstenfamilie in das <a href="https://www.thueringen-entdecken.de/w/unteres-schloss-greiz" title="Untere Schloss Greiz">Untere Schloss</a>. Die Wohnräume sind heute mit Originalmobiliar und sehenswerten historischen Kachelöfen bestückt. Besonders informativ ist der Raum mit dem Greizer Stadtmodell aus dem Jahr 1899, umringt von Wänden mit detaillierten Manuskripten über die faszinierende Persönlichkeit Heinrichs XXII. Reuss Aelterer Linie – aufgrund seiner Widerspenstigkeit in politischen Belangen wurde er Heinrich der Unartige genannt. In den nächsten Räumen wird es persönlich: Hochzeitsstorys verschiedener reußischer Prinzessinnen gewähren tiefe Einblicke in die einzelnen Schicksale. Dramatisches, Berührendes, Romantisches – es kommt alles vor. Eine ganze Reihe weiterer Zimmer präsentieren Gedichte, Papiertheater oder Spielzeug von früher. | thuecat:richText @en | <p>When Rainer Koch from the town of <a href="https://www.thueringen-entdecken.de/en/w/greiz" title="Greiz">Greiz</a> was engaged as the museum director, he took over the Lower Castle and the Upper Castle as a local history museum. When he explored the still unrenovated buildings, browsed through the museum magazines and archives – and took a closer look at the history of the Reuss family, he was quick to recognise the true value of the former royal residences. With strong characters such as Heinrich XXII, the family ruled the Principality of Reuss Elder Line with a firm hand for centuries. The principality covered an area of just 316.3 km² and was the smallest of the eight dominions in the territory that makes up modern-day Thuringia.</p> <h3>Grasping means understanding</h3> <p>Rainer Koch and his team worked through all the data and facts about the elder and younger lines of the House of Reuss, compared them with historical events that were happening at the same time and presented both lines in an extremely imaginative way. His aim was to bring about a lasting transfer of knowledge and for museum visitors to enjoy themselves. His approach is all about researching, perceiving and thinking for oneself. He achieves this with traditional exhibits put into a creative setting, all kinds of interactive options and texts that foster an in-depth understanding. In his museums, he does not claim any prerogative of interpretation: “everyone should have a sense of their own ability to look for and find answers. Over the centuries, the princes kept remodelling and extending their castle, leaving behind layers of history in the process. It shows the Heinrichs of the Reuss Elder Line – the name was passed down throughout the line and appropriately means “Ruler of the Home”. Occasionally something new is added, such as a magnificent pleasure garden made of icing sugar presented on the dining table in the Upper Castle – following the tradition of confectionery centrepieces at royal courts in the 17th and 18th centuries.</p> <h3>Hurtling through history</h3> <p>A lift lit up with coloured lights takes you through four eras – panels showing dates and events point the way, For example, red stands for the years 1190 to 1531 and takes you to the basement, which is characterised by arches and brick walls. You can try on iron helmets which are almost too heavy to hold. A collection of rocks from local quarries, including surprisingly glittering exhibits, will motivate you to take a closer look at the geology of the volcanic region. A collection of chamber pots will make you smile. Children think that they are soup bowls. An artfully built-in fireplace in the bower bears witness to the fact that no one like to freeze in the 13th century either. A cross-section of the castle is presented with the help of a model in a glass display case. On a screen, a flying sword must go through as many rings as possible, controlled by your movements. Scenes of the different stages of construction of the Upper Castle are played in the background. In the small auditorium, a 3D film is show that gives insights into the experiences of the noble family. Here, you will encounter Otto Fürst von Bismarck (1815 to 1898), the first Chancellor of the German Empire, and Heinrich XXII (1846 to 1902), the last reigning prince of the Reuss Elder Line. Today, the living rooms are furnished with original furniture and attractive historical tiled stones. The room containing a model of the town of Greiz from the year 1899, surrounded by walls featuring detailed manuscripts about the fascinating Heinrich XXII. A prince in the Reuss Elder Line, he was known as “Heinrich the Unruly” because of his recalcitrance with regard to political issues. In the next rooms, the exhibition gets personal: wedding stories of various princesses from the House of Reuss offer a deep insight into their individual fates. Dramatic, touching, romantic – you will find it all here. A whole series of other rooms present poems, paper theatres or toys of times gone by. Szybko jednak odkrył prawdziwy potencjał dawnych rezydencji, badając nieodrestaurowane jeszcze budynki, magazyny i archiwa. Zafascynowała go historia rodu Reus, wyrazistych postaci, między innymi takich, jak Henryk Krnąbrny. Ród ten przez wieki stabilnie rządził niewielkim (zaledwie 316,3 km2) Księstwem Reuss linii starszej. Było to najmniejsze z ośmiu ówczesnych terytoriów państwowych w Turyngii.</p> <h3>Pojąć sens, czyli zrozumieć</h3> <p>Rainer Koch i jego zespół uporządkowali fakty z dziejów obu linii rodu Reuss (starszej i młodszej), zestawili je z wydarzeniami z historii powszechnej i przedstawili to wszystko w niezwykle pomysłowy sposób. Cel? Przekonujący transfer wiedzy łączący naukę z dobrą zabawą. Motto tego przekazu brzmi: „Badaj, czuj i myśl samodzielnie”. Klasyczne eksponaty prezentowane są w kreatywnych ramach, w formie licznych interaktywnych stanowisk i tekstów świadczących o głębokiej znajomości tematu. Przez wieki książęta przebudowywali i powiększali swoją siedzibę warstwa po warstwie, niczym płatki cebuli. Przedstawia on wszystkich „Henryków” z książęcej rodziny. Imię to było dziedziczone z pokolenia na pokolenie, co miało swój sens – oznacza bowiem „władcę domu”. Czasem pojawiają się nowości, jak na przykład wystawny ogród rozkoszy z lukru, zdobiący stół w jadalni Górnego Zamku. To nawiązanie do XVII- i XVIII-wiecznej tradycji dworskich uczt, które miały przede wszystkim olśniewać biesiadników.</p> <h3>Windą przez historię</h3> <p>Kolorowo podświetlona winda prowadzi w samym sercu „cebuli” przez cztery epoki – drogę wskazują tablice z chronologią wydarzeń. Czerwony kolor to przykładowo lata 1190–1531, winda zjeżdża do piwnic z charakterystycznymi sklepieniami i ścianami z palonej cegły. Można tam przymierzyć rycerskie hełmy, tak ciężkie, że trudno utrzymać je na głowie! Kolekcja minerałów z lokalnych kamieniołomów, w tym eksponaty zaskakujące swoim blaskiem, motywuje do bliższego przyjrzenia się geologii tego wulkanicznego regionu. Śmieszy kolekcja nocników, które dzieci biorą czasem za wazy do zupy. Kominek w przemyślany sposób wkomponowany w pokoju mieszkalnym, zwanym po niemiecku „kemenatą”, czyli „izbą z piecem”, a po polsku, jak łatwo zgadnąć, komnatą, dowodzi, że także w XIII wieku nikt nie lubił marznąć. Przekrój zamku prezentowany jest też w postaci modelu pod szklanym kloszem – wystarczy naciskać na guziki tej witryny i patrzeć, co się stanie.</p> <div contenteditable="false" Stojąc na niej, trzeba przebijać pojawiające się pierścienie sterowanym na ekranie wirtualnym mieczem. W tle pojawiają się wizualizacje różnych faz budowy Górnego Zamku. W małej sali kinowej wyświetlany jest film 3D, który przenosi do świata dawnych mieszkańców tej rezydencji, pozwala wirtualnie spotkać samego Ottona von Bismarcka oraz ostatniego panującego księcia Dziś pokoje mieszkalne wyposażone są w oryginalne meble i piękne zabytkowe piece kaflowe. Warto zatrzymać się przy makiecie miasta z 1899 roku, otoczonej manuskryptami opisującymi fascynującą postać Henryka XXII linii starszej. Ze względu na swój upór w sprawach politycznych zyskał on przydomek „Henryka Krnąbrnego”. W dalszych pomieszczeniach panuje już bardziej prywatny klimat: historie ślubne różnych księżniczek z rodu Reuss odsłaniają ich osobiste losy: dramatyczne, wzruszające i romantyczne. Kolejne pokoje pełne są wierszy, teatrzyków papierowych i dawnych zabawek.
