Der 16 km lange Weg verbindet Heldburg mit dem Ortsteil Bad Colberg. Auf der Strecke gibt es verschiedene Sehenswürdigkeiten aus den unterschiedlichen Zeitschichten (Grünes Haus, Billmutshausen, Veste Heldburg), aber selbstverständlich auch viel Natur zu erleben. Man startet die Tour in Heldburg am Mehrgenerationenhaus und geht Richtung Sportplatz. Hier geht man ca. 200 m auf der Landstraße Richtung Bad Colberg, am Wegepunkt (WP) 46 vorbei und biegt links ab zum Kuhsee. Der Schnepfenbrunnen kann kurz hinter dem Kuhsee besichtigt werden. Weiter geht es Richtung WP 30, bei dem sich das Grüne Haus (eine alte Jagdhütte des Herzogs Georg II. von Sachsen-Meiningen) befindet. Hier gibt es eine Sitzgelegenheit. Man folgt WP 27 am Tonberg vorbei. Dessen Ton war früher für die Töpferei sehr begehrt. Dann geht es abwärts nach Bad Colberg, wo man das Brauhaus besichtigen kann. Nun geht man die Rodach aufwärts zur Gedenkstätte Billmuthausen bei WP 48. Die Gedenkstätte Billmuthausen erinnert an ein gleichnamiges Dorf, das komplett geschliffen und mit Grenzanlagen überbaut wurde. Ein Gedenkstein, ein Friedhof und ein ehemaliger Grenzturm (heute Fledermausstation) halten die Erinnerung wach an einen symbolträchtigen Ort der Deutsch-Deutschen Teilung. Richtung WP49 geht es zur Landesgrenze nach Bayern, wo man links auf den Kolonnenweg (Grünes Band) biegt. Man wandert diesen bis zum Plateau am Hohen Stein. Bei WP 54 biegt man links. Am WP 59 hält man sich rechts und geht über den Reitweg zur Veste Heldburg, auch „Fränkische Leuchte“ genannt. In der Feste Heldburg befindet sich auch das Deutsche Burgenmuseum. Bei gutem Wetter ist vom Turm aus die imposante Schwester Veste Coburg, die „Fränkische Krone“, zu sehen. Durch das Eselsgässchen (den alten Warentransportweg zur Veste) läuft man wieder abwärts, an der Alten Eiche (1000 Jahre) vorbei nach Heldburg. Das von der stolzen Veste bewachte Städtchen ist eine wahre Augenweide und bietet eine mittelalterliche Bilderbuchkulisse.

Dans la forteresse Heldburg se trouve également le Musée allemand des châteaux. Par temps clair, on peut voir depuis la tour l'impressionnante sœur, la Veste Coburg, dénommée "Couronne franconienne". En descendant par la ruelle Eselsgässchen (l'ancien chemin de transport des marchandises vers la forteresse), on passe par le vieux chên (1000 ans) pour revenir à Heldburg. Cette petite ville gardée par la fière forteresse est un véritable régal pour les yeux et offre un cadre pittoresque médiéval.

Towards WP49, you go to the state border to Bavaria, where you turn left onto the patrol path (Green Belt). You hike this path up to the plateau on the Hohen Stein. At WP 54, turn left. At WP 59, keep right and go over the bridle path to Veste Heldburg, also called the "Franconian Lighthouse." In the fortress Heldburg is also the German Castle Museum. In good weather, the impressive sister fortress Veste Coburg, the "Franconian Crown," can be seen from the tower. Through the Eselsgässchen (the old goods transport path to the fortress), you walk downhill again, past the Old Oak (1000 years old) back to Heldburg. Here you walk about 200 m on the country road towards Bad Colberg, pass way point (WP) 46 and turn left to Kuhsee. The Snipes Fountain can be visited shortly after Kuhsee. Then continue towards WP 30, where the Green House (an old hunting lodge of Duke Georg II of Sachsen-Meiningen) is located. There is a seating area here.</p> <p>You follow WP 27 past Tonberg. Its clay was once highly valued for pottery. Then it goes downhill to Bad Colberg, where you can visit the brewery. Now you walk up the Rodach to the Billmuthausen Memorial at WP 48. The Billmuthausen Memorial commemorates a village of the same name that was completely demolished and overbuilt with border installations. A memorial stone, a cemetery, and a former border tower (today a bat station) keep the memory alive of a symbolic site of the German-German division.</p> <p>Towards WP49, you go to the state border to Bavaria, where you turn left onto the patrol path (Green Belt). You hike this path up to the plateau on the Hohen Stein. At WP 54, turn left. At WP 59, keep right and go over the bridle path to Veste Heldburg, also called the "Franconian Lighthouse." In the fortress Heldburg is also the German Castle Museum. In good weather, the impressive sister fortress Veste Coburg, the "Franconian Crown," can be seen from the tower. Through the Eselsgässchen (the old goods transport path to the fortress), you walk downhill again, past the Old Oak (1000 years old) back to Heldburg. The town, guarded by the proud fortress, is a true feast for the eyes and offers a medieval picture-book setting.</p>
