Auf dem Zweiländerweg Rodachtal mit einer Gesamtlänge von ca. 150 km kann man das gesamte Gebiet der „Initiative Rodachtal“ erwandern. Die hier beschriebene Teilstrecke verbindet das Wanderwegenetz der Gemeinde Itzgrund mit den Wanderwegen der Stadt Seßlach. Meistens ist der Fluss Itz, der dieses breite Tal geschaffen hat, kaum zu erkennen. Wenn aber im Thüringer Wald der Schnee schmilzt dann kann er für Wochen unübersehbar breit werden. Die Natur bedankt sich, dass die Wiesen des Itzgrund in weiten Teilen als Hochwasserpolder belassen wurden, mit seltenen Insekten, Vögeln und Pflanzen.

On the Two-Country Rodachtal route with a total length of about 150 km, one can hike through the entire area of the "Initiative Rodachtal". The section described here connects the hiking network of the Itzgrund municipality with the hiking trails of the town Seßlach. Most of the time, the Itz river, which created this wide valley, is hardly visible. But when the snow melts in the Thuringian Forest, it can become unmistakably wide for weeks. Nature is grateful that large parts of the Itzgrund meadows have been left as flood retention areas, home to rare insects, birds, and plants.

Sur le parcours transfrontalier Rodachtal d'une longueur totale d'environ 150 km, vous pouvez parcourir toute la région de l’„Initiative Rodachtal“. La section décrite ici relie le réseau de sentiers de la commune d'Itzgrund aux sentiers de la ville de Seßlach. Le plus souvent, la rivière Itz, qui a façonné cette large vallée, est à peine visible. Mais lorsque la neige fond dans la forêt de Thuringe, elle peut devenir d'une largeur évidente pendant des semaines. La nature est reconnaissante que les prairies d'Itzgrund aient en grande partie été conservées comme zones de retenue d’inondation, abritant des insectes, des oiseaux et des plantes rares.
