Das Highlight der über 12 km langen Wanderung sind die beiden Schlösser: das Schloss Untermerzbach und das Schloss Gereuth. Für die Pause zwischendurch wird die Gereuther Quelle empfohlen. Dort kann man die herrliche Aussicht bis nach Vierzehnheiligen genießen. Auf dem Rückweg wandert man durch Obermerzbach, wo sich ein historisches Fachwerkgebäude mit Schindelmalerei befindet.

Le point fort de cette randonnée de plus de 12 km sont les deux châteaux : le château d'Untermerzbach et le château de Gereuth. Pour la pause, il est recommandé de s'arrêter à la source de Gereuth. Là, vous pouvez profiter de la magnifique vue jusqu'à Vierzehnheiligen. Nach wenigen hundert Metern führt der Weg hinab ins Tal und stößt dann auf die Straße Obermerzbach-Gereuth, der wir in Richtung Gereuth folgen. Nach etwa 400 m stößt man auf die Kreisstraße, der man wiederum nach Norden in Richtung Gereuth folgt.</p> <p>In Gereuth führt die Straße vorbei am Neuen Schloss und dem Alten Schloss / Kirche. An der Straßengabel verläuft der Wanderweg nach Süden entlang des Schlossparks, bis dieser im weiten Talgrund nach Westen abbiegt. Man folgt dem Weg zu seiner Abzweigung nach Norden. An einem alten Sandstein­kreuz stößt man auf die Kreisstraße Gereuth-Kurzewind. Wir folgen dieser kurz bergauf, entlang eines kleinen Wäldchens führt die Ausschilderung (ab hier identisch mit dem „Rückertweg“) auf den „Panoramaweg“ in Richtung Buch (ein kleiner Abstecher zur Gereuther Quelle bietet Rast mit Ausblick auf Kloster Banz und die Wallfahrtskirche Vierzehnheiligen).</p> <p>Nach der Durchquerung der Ortschaft Buch zweigt der Weg am nahen Waldrand und führt im Wald durch den historischen ehemaligen Land­schaftspark „Gereuther Tannen“, den schon Friedrich Rückert besuchte. Der Weg führt den Berg an den „Rückert­steinen“ hinunter. Nach dem Verlassen des Waldes führt der Weg nach Wüsten­welsberg und von dort bergab nach Obermerzbach. Hier befindet sich die romanische Kirche „St. Michael“.</p> <p>Die Kreisstraße führt nun nach Süden in Richtung Untermerzbach. Etwa 300 m nach dem Ortsausgang nimmt man die ausgeschilderte Abzweigung des Wanderweges, der durch den Ortskern von Untermerzbach zum nahen Ausgangspunkt führt.</p>
