Auf diesem Rundwanderweg kann man viele Relikte der innerdeutschen Grenze entdecken. Neben dem Stück der Grenzanlagen hinter Schlechtsart, welches beim Abbau der NVA vergessen wurde, kann man bei Gompertshausen sogar einen Grenzturm mit Führungsbunker besichtigen. (Deutsches Kuratorium e. V. Telefon +49 (0)9720 951212). Die Gedenkstätte des „geschleiften“ Dorfes Leitenhausen erinnert an das Schicksal vieler Dörfer, die in der Sperrzone lagen.

On this circular hiking trail, many relics of the inner-German border can be discovered. Outre le tronçon des installations frontalières derrière Schlechtsart, oublié lors du démantèlement de la NVA, on peut même visiter une tour-frontière avec bunker de commandement à Gompertshausen. Nach einer Weile verlässt man den Wald und wandert nach Gompertshausen. An der Straße angekommen, biegt man nach dem Dorfbrauhaus links ab und folgt der Beschilderung. Auf der rechten Seite entdeckt man bald den Stausee Westhausen, der bei schönem Wetter zum Verweilen einlädt. Wandert man weiter, erreicht man schließlich Westhausen. Der Ort fand 776 erstmals Erwähnung und ist damit die älteste Gemeinde des Heldburger Landes. Man durchquert den Ortskern und folgt linker Hand dem Verlauf der „Kreck“ bis man kurze Zeit später Haubinda erreicht.</p>
