Geopfad Schönburg Flussabwärts von Naumburg über der Saale, erhebt sich ein steiles, 50 Meter hohes Felsplateau. Sichtbar darauf überragt, eine der ältesten spätromanischen Burgen, die Schönburg, das Tal. Wieder restauriert, lädt die Burganlage mit dem 30 m hohen Bergfried dazu ein, die malerische Landschaft näher kennenzulernen (Klaus-, Burg-, Fachberg). Die Kraft des Wassers hat die Gegend geprägt und wurde lange durch zahlreiche Mühlen genutzt (Neumühle, Kroppenmühle). Ort und Burg schmiegen sich eng an den Felsen, vollziehen das Auf und Ab am Zusammenfluss von Saale und Wethau nach. Überall trifft man auf einen auffälligen, roten Stein. Dieser Buntsandstein ist in Schönburg allgegenwärtig und diente zur Erbauung der Burg. In oberirdischen Steinbrüchen wurden daraus Werksteine geschlagen. Doch finden sich auch unterirdische Abbaue. Diese sitzen in weicheren Schichten („Letten“, Ton-/Mergelstein) und dienen bis heute als Kelleranlagen. Der Buntsandstein entstand vor 250 Millionen Jahren, zu Beginn der Trias und wurde als riesige Menge Abtragungsschutt in einem Tiefland abgelagert (Germanisches Becken). Es herrschte ein wüstenhaftes Klima, wie die roten Färbungen der daraus entstandenen Sandsteine belegen. In Schönburg Ortsmitte besonders gut zu sehen, der in dem Felsen eingeschlagene Straßenanschnitt. Dieses 250 m lange Profil im Mittleren Buntsandstein, ist ein Geotop und Aufschluss von überregionaler Bedeutung. Die Steillagen der Hänge und die Besonderheit des Untergrunds (Terroir) werden seit über 1000 Jahren für Weinbau genutzt (Saale-Unstrut). Der Fachberg wurde neu aufgerebt (1990) und wird durch das Weingut Fröhlich-Hake (Roßbach b. Nmbg.) bewirtschaftet. Eine weitere Bedeutung hat der Buntsandstein als Wasserfilter und -speicher (Mineralquelle Leißling). Niederschläge sickern langsam durch die Spalten und Poren und treten als hochwertiges Grundwasser, meist als Schichtquellen mit beträchtlicher Schüttung wieder zu Tage (Klatsch-, Moosbrunnen). All diese Schönheiten und interessanten Details verknüpft der Geopfad Schönburg. Geopath Schönburg Downstream from Naumburg along the Saale, a steep, 50-meter-high rock plateau rises. Clearly visible on it, one of the oldest late Romanesque castles, Schönburg, towers over the valley. Restored again, the castle complex with the 30 m high bergfried invites you to get to know the picturesque landscape more closely (Klaus-, Burg-, Fachberg). The power of water shaped the area and was long used by numerous mills (Neumühle, Kroppenmühle). Another significance of Buntsandstein is as a water filter and reservoir (mineral spring Leißling). Precipitation seeps slowly through the cracks and pores and emerges again as high-quality groundwater, mostly as stratified springs with considerable discharge (Klatsch-, Moosbrunnen). Sentier géologique de Schönburg En aval de Naumburg, au-dessus de la Saale, se dresse un plateau rocheux escarpé de 50 mètres de haut. Visiblement, un des plus anciens châteaux tard-romans, le Schönburg, domine la vallée. Rénové, le complexe du château avec son donjon de 30 m invite à mieux découvrir le paysage pittoresque (Klaus-, Burg-, Fachberg). La force de l'eau a façonné la région et a longtemps été exploitée par de nombreux moulins (Neumühle, Kroppenmühle). Le village et le château se blottissent contre la roche, suivant les hauts et les bas à la confluence de la Saale et de la Wethau. Partout, on trouve une pierre rouge distinctive. Ce grès coloré est omniprésent à Schönburg et a servi à la construction du château. Des pierres de taille ont été extraites dans des carrières à ciel ouvert, mais on trouve aussi des exploitations souterraines dans des couches plus tendres (« Letten », argile/marnes), qui servent encore aujourd'hui de caves. Le grès coloré s'est formé il y a 250 millions d'années, au début du Trias, déposé en grande quantité comme un détritus d'érosion dans une basse plaine (bassin germanique). Un climat désertique régnait, comme en témoignent les colorations rouges des grès. Au centre de Schönburg, on peut voir particulièrement bien la coupe routière creusée dans la roche. Ce profil de 250 m dans le grès moyen est un géotope et un affleurement d'importance supra-régionale. Les pentes abruptes et les particularités du sous-sol (terroir) sont exploitées depuis plus de 1000 ans pour la viticulture (Saale-Unstrut). Le Fachberg a été replanté (1990) et est exploité par le domaine Fröhlich-Hake (Roßbach près de Nmbg.). Le grès coloré a aussi une autre importance comme filtre et réservoir d’eau (source minérale de Leißling).
