Die 17,9 Kilometer lange Extratour „Keltenpfad“ führt durch die nördlichsten Ausläufer des Rhöngebirges – vorbei an uralten Buchenwäldern und markanten Basaltformationen. Startpunkt ist das Kelten-Hotel „Goldene Aue“ – direkt am Keltendorf gelegen. Von hier schlängelt sich der Weg durch die eindrucksvolle Natur rund um den Öchsenberg mit seinem markanten Keltenkreuz und den Dietrichsberg. Der Panoramablick reicht weit ins Werra- und Ulstertal. Jahrzehntelanger Basaltabbau hat das Gesicht des Berges geprägt und eine raue, zugleich faszinierende Kulisse hinterlassen. Der Pfad führt weiter durch stille Wälder und vorbei an Überresten uralter Ringwallanlagen. Am Dietrichsberg zeigt sich der Basalt in seinen vielfältigsten Formen – besonders eindrucksvoll ist das Basaltblockmeer am Geiskopf. Kurz vor dem Ziel wartet noch ein geologisches Highlight: der „Alte Bruch“ – mit säulenartig aufragenden Basaltformationen.

Le parcours extratrail « Keltenpfad » de 17,9 kilomètres traverse les contreforts les plus au nord du massif de la Rhön – passant par d’anciens forêts de hêtres et les formations marquantes de basalte. Le point de départ est l’hôtel celtique « Goldene Aue », situé directement au village celtique. Le sentier serpente à travers la nature impressionnante autour de l’Öchsenberg avec sa croix celtique distinctive et le Dietrichsberg. La vue panoramique s’étend largement sur les vallées de la Werra et de l'Ulster. Des décennies d’extraction de basalte ont façonné le visage de la montagne, créant un décor à la fois rugueux et fascinant. Le sentier continue à travers des forêts calmes et longe les vestiges d’anciennes enceintes fortifiées. Au Dietrichsberg, le basalte se présente sous ses formes les plus diverses – la mer de blocs de basalte au Geiskopf est particulièrement impressionnante. Peu avant l’arrivée, un point géologique remarquable : « l’Ancienne Carrière » avec ses formations de basalte en colonnes.

The starting point is the Kelten-Hotel “Goldene Aue” - located directly at the Celtic village. From here the path winds through the impressive nature around Öchsenberg with its striking Celtic cross and the Dietrichsberg. The panoramic view stretches far into the Werra and Ulster valleys. Decades of basalt mining have shaped the face of the mountain and left a rough yet fascinating backdrop. The path continues through quiet forests and past remains of ancient ring wall structures. At Dietrichsberg, the basalt shows itself in its most diverse forms - particularly impressive is the sea of basalt blocks at Geiskopf. Just before the destination, a geological highlight awaits: the “Old Quarry” - with columnar basalt formations rising up.
