Der Vogelpastor Christian Brehm gilt als Begründer der modernen Ornithologie und war als Pfarrer in Renthendorf tätig. Dort erblickte auch sein Sohn Alfred Edmund das Licht der Welt, wo die freie Natur bis an die Haustüren reicht. Rund um die Brehm Gedenkstätte in Renthendorf offenbart sich eine Natur, wie sie sich auch der Familie Brehm dargeboten hat. Der harmonische Wechsel zwischen Wäldern, Wiesen, Feldern, Bächen und Teichen bietet viele verschiedene Lebensräume und eine reiche Tier- und Pflanzenwelt, deren Beobachtung Alfred Edmund Brehm in seinem Bestseller 'Brehms Tierleben' festhielt und der ihn weltberühmt machte.
