Die ganze Familie erfährt unterwegs Wissenswertes zur Region – von Wasser bis Wald, zur Grenzgeschichte oder zu Geistern und Mythen der Rhön. Dabei sind die Hauptattraktionen die ARCHE RHÖN in der Erlebniswelt Rhönwald bei Kaltenwestheim und die Aussichtsplattform Noahs Segel auf dem Berg Ellenbogen. Der Weg ist untergliedert in vier thematische Etappen: Die Erste ist das „Rhönwasser“. Der Einstieg ist in Unterweid mit Rätseln und Angeboten im Ort. Ein Abstecher zum Weinberg mit Grenzturm und Eingangstafel lohnt sich wegen der Aussicht. Weitere fünf Spiel- und Entdeckerstationen bzw. Informationspunkte sind entlang der Strecke. Der Weg führt über eine Steigung auf das Plateau des Weidbergs zur Erlebniswelt Rhönwald oberhalb des Ortes Kaltenwestheim. Die Etappe „Rhönwald“ hat den Feuersalamander Mandra als Symbolfigur. Von der Erlebniswelt Rhönwald geht es über Wiesen und durch den Rhönwald bis zum Thüringer Rhönhaus am Berg Ellenbogen. Insgesamt finden sich sieben Informations-, Spiel- und Entdeckerstationen auf dem Weg. Die Etappe der „Rhöngeister“ verläuft vom Thüringer Rhönhaus in Richtung Frankenheim. Auf dem HOCHRHÖNER-Wanderweg laufen wir vorrangig durch Weiden und Wiesen mit Panoramablick in die Rhön. Rund um Frankenheim gibt es einen Informationspunkt und vier Entdeckerobjekte. Die letzte Etappe ist die „Rhöngeschichte“. Von Frankenheim weiter auf dem HOCHRHÖNER wandern wir nach Birx am Dreiländereck der Rhön. Hier war die ehemalige deutsch-deutsche Grenze. Der Endpunkt ist am Rastplatz Gerstenstein.

The whole family learns interesting facts about the region along the way – from water to forest, the border history, or the spirits and myths of the Rhön. The main attractions are ARCHE RHÖN in the Rhönwald adventure world near Kaltenwestheim and the viewing platform Noah's Segel on Mount Ellenbogen. The path is divided into four thematic stages: The first is the “Rhön Water.” The start is in Unterweid with puzzles and offerings in the town. A detour to the vineyard with border tower and entrance sign is worthwhile because of the view. There are five more play and discovery stations or information points along the route. The path goes up a slope to the Weidberg plateau to the Rhönwald adventure world above the town of Kaltenwestheim. The “Rhönwald” stage has the fire salamander Mandra as its symbol figure. From the Rhönwald adventure world, it goes over meadows and through the Rhönwald forest to the Thuringian Rhön house on Mount Ellenbogen. In total, there are seven information, play, and discovery stations on the path. The “Rhön Spirits” stage runs from the Thuringian Rhön house towards Frankenheim. On the HOCHRHÖNER hiking trail, we walk mainly through meadows and pastures with panoramic views into the Rhön. Around Frankenheim, there is an information point and four explorer objects. The final stage is the “Rhön History.” From Frankenheim, continuing on the HOCHRHÖNER we hike to Birx at the Rhön tri-border area. This was the former East-West German border. The end point is at the Gerstenstein rest area.

Toute la famille apprend en chemin des faits intéressants sur la région – de l'eau à la forêt, sur l'histoire frontalière ou sur les esprits et mythes de la Rhön. Les principales attractions sont l'ARCHE RHÖN dans le monde d'aventure Rhönwald près de Kaltenwestheim et la plateforme d'observation Noahs Segel sur le mont Ellenbogen. Le parcours est divisé en quatre étapes thématiques : la première est "Rhönwasser". Le départ est à Unterweid avec des énigmes et des offres dans le village. Un détour vers la vigne avec la tour-frontière et la plaque d'entrée vaut la peine pour la vue. Cinq autres stations de jeu et de découverte ou points d'information se trouvent le long du parcours. Le chemin monte vers le plateau du Weidberg jusqu'au monde d'aventure Rhönwald au-dessus du village de Kaltenwestheim. L'étape "Rhönwald" a la salamandre de feu Mandra comme figurine symbolique. Depuis le monde d'aventure Rhönwald, le chemin continue à travers les prairies et la forêt de la Rhön jusqu'à la maison Thuringienne Rhön sur le mont Ellenbogen. Sept stations d'information, de jeu et de découverte sont au total sur le chemin. L'étape "Rhöngeister" va de la maison Thuringienne Rhön en direction de Frankenheim. Sur le sentier de randonnée HOCHRHÖNER, nous traversons principalement des prairies avec vue panoramique sur la Rhön. Autour de Frankenheim, il y a un point d'information et quatre objets de découverte. La dernière étape est "Rhöngeschichte". De Frankenheim, nous continuons sur le HOCHRHÖNER vers Birx au tripoint de la Rhön. Ici se trouvait l'ancienne frontière entre les deux Allemagne. Le point final est l'aire de repos Gerstenstein.
