Il existe deux points de départ possibles pour le parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen :
La variante 1 commence et se termine au parc de loisirs et de détente Possen.
La variante 2 commence et se termine à la périphérie sud de Sondershausen, près de l'Office des forêts (Possenallee 54).
Aux deux points de départ se trouvent des sculptures en bois représentant un arbre habitat avec des espèces typiques de la forêt de Possen, ainsi que des panneaux d'information sur les particularités de la forêt locale.
La description de l'itinéraire présentée commence au parc de loisirs et de détente Possen (variante 1). Il est recommandé d’effectuer cette randonnée dans le sens antihoraire.
Le chemin est marqué en continu par le symbole du coccinelle cardinal noir et blanc.

Depuis le parking, vous marchez vers la stèle bien visible du parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen. Vous aurez peut-être la chance d’être observé par les guépards de l'enclos voisin du parc de loisirs Possen.
Suivez ensuite le balisage avec le coccinelle cardinal noir et blanc en direction est.
À la fourche du chemin qui suit déjà après 100 m, prenez à gauche le chemin asphalté, descendez à travers la vallée Spierental, où après 300 m supplémentaires vous passerez la fontaine supérieure Spierenbrunnen.
Dans la vallée supérieure Spierental, les eaux de source ont été captées en 1734, puis aménagées en réservoir d’eau. Dès 1842, une conduite a été installée pour l'approvisionnement en eau du château de chasse sur le Possen.
Le chemin descend encore et après 1,2 km, vous atteignez la fontaine inférieure Spierenbrunnen, endroit idéal pour une pause.
Après environ 300 m, vous arrivez à la lisière de la forêt (point de secours KYF-1850), où vous tenez la gauche. À côté du parcours de la forêt primitive, vous êtes aussi sur la voie Barbarossa X8 et le chemin de randonnée Hainleite (marquage triangle rouge). Le chemin continue légèrement en montée le long de la lisière de la forêt.
Vous pouvez alors, en direction nord-est, admirer la chaîne de collines qui se trouve au-delà du quartier Jecha de Sondershausen, la Windleite, la « petite sœur » de la Hainleite.
Après 700 m, vous arrivez à une bifurcation avec des panneaux indicateurs proposant une excursion vers Büchenbrunn à 300 m.
Un monument rappelle qu'il y a environ 300 ans, la randonnée était sans doute plus dangereuse qu'aujourd'hui parce que les loups peuplaient la région. C’est en ce lieu qu’au dimanche gras de l’année 1719, le dernier spécimen de cette espèce a été abattu.
Si vous ne souhaitez pas faire l'excursion, continuez jusqu'à la prochaine bifurcation après 200 m. Le chemin monte alors à gauche. Peu après, prenez à droite. Après avoir passé le point de secours KYF-1845, vous atteignez peu après la croix de chemins sur le Fürstenberg (300 m d’altitude).
À cet endroit, à droite, au Göldner, se trouve un chemin d'accès vers la ville de Sondershausen. Il descend à droite en passant devant le cimetière juif jusqu’au parking de l’Office des forêts de Sondershausen à la Possenallee 54. Là aussi se trouvent une stèle et des panneaux d'information comme porte d’entrée du parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen. À l’Office des forêts, une clé peut être empruntée pour monter à la tour Spatenberg.
Ceux qui commencent la randonnée sur le parcours de la forêt primitive Possen ici, montent par le chemin Barbarossa en passant par le Göldner et le cimetière juif jusqu’à la croix de chemins sur le Fürstenberg, où les deux variantes se rejoignent.
Sans l'excursion en direction de Sondershausen, your chemin monte à gauche vers le Spatenberg. Un sentier à droite mène à la tour correspondante.
Cette tour a été construite en 1895 comme tour Bismarck. Au milieu d’un paysage chargé d’histoire, où se trouvait autrefois un château fort, la tour d’observation de 20 mètres s’élève de la hêtraie claire.
Depuis la tour Spatenberg, vous revenez par le même sentier. Puis vous quittez le chemin Barbarossa et le chemin de randonnée Hainleite. Un escalier vous conduit dans le chemin suspendu dans la canopée inauguré en 2020. Sur cet embranchement, il faut être sûr de ses pas, mais vous obtenez l’impression d’une « forêt primitive de demain ». Il s’agit d’endroits difficilement accessibles, non exploités depuis longtemps. Le chemin serpente le long du bord escarpé. Vous pouvez ainsi regarder du haut les cimes des arbres. Ce chemin sauvage et romantique vous conduit après environ 500 m au Rond-point.
Le rond-point de Sondershausen est l’un des points de vue les plus attractifs de la Hainleite. La ville de Sondershausen et certains de ses quartiers sont clairement visibles. L’axe de vue commence au nord-ouest avec le Frauenberg (411 m d’altitude), l’une des montagnes locales de Sondershausen. En direction nord-est, votre regard s’étend sur la vallée du Wipper et les chaînes de collines de la Windleite jusqu’au massif du Kyffhäuser, d’où émergent le monument Kyffhäuser et la tour TV sur le Kulpenberg. À l’horizon se trouve le Harz, avec, en cas de bonne visibilité, le Brocken (1142 m d’altitude). En 1910, le club de promotion et de tourisme de Sondershausen y a fait installer une plaque d’orientation en bronze. Un monument rappelle les chanteurs universitaires tombés durant la Première Guerre mondiale.
Vous restez sur le chemin de randonnée Hainleite en suivant le panneau vers les étangs de Bebraer. Ce chemin, aussi appelé chemin des princesses, continue vers l’ouest au cœur de la forêt. De vieux arbres noueux peuvent vieillir dignement, des arbres morts ainsi que des rochers caractéristiques bordent le chemin. À droite, vous pouvez admirer la forêt de versant au-dessus de Sondershausen.
Après 500 m, les chemins se croisent à un escalier. Vous continuez tout droit sur le chemin descendant, qui exige par endroits d’être sûr de ses pas. Après avoir effectué encore un kilomètre de descente, un banc invite à la pause. Depuis celui-ci, en hiver à travers les arbres dénudés, vous pouvez voir la piscine naturelle des étangs de Bebraer.
Votre descente se termine après 300 m supplémentaires. Le chemin serpente maintenant entre le Petit et le Grand Totenberg, montant à gauche en pente raide. À cet endroit, vous quittez le chemin de randonnée Hainleite descendant. Après seulement 150 m, vous quittez le chemin de gravier et prenez un sentier qui monte en pente raide sur la droite. Au croisement suivant, à 300 m, la montée difficile est terminée. Après avoir traversé une route forestière, vous suivez un autre sentier qui débouche finalement sur l’allée Dornallee. Au point de secours KYF-1840, vous traversez la route d'accès au Possen et prenez le chemin des calèches vers votre destination, où vous êtes peut-être à nouveau attendus par les guépards curieux.
Le château de chasse sur le Possen a été construit entre 1732 et 1738 par les princes de Schwarzbourg dans le style baroque. Trente ans plus tard, la tour Possenturm, un bâtiment à colombages de huit étages avec un toit baroque, fut construite. Cette tour de 42 m est considérée comme la plus ancienne et la plus haute tour à colombages de son genre en Europe. Celui qui la gravit bénéficie d’une vue magnifique sur la région. Aujourd’hui, le site est un lieu de sortie populaire non seulement pour les habitants, avec son parc de loisirs et sa gastronomie. There are two possible starting points for the Possen primeval forest path:
Option 1 begins and ends at the Possen leisure and recreation park.
Option 2 begins and ends at the southern outskirts of Sondershausen, near the forest office (Possenallee 54).
At both starting points there are wooden sculptures representing a habitat tree with species typical of the Possen forest, as well as panels with information about the special features of the local forest.
The following route description begins at the Possen leisure and recreation park (Option 1). It is recommended to do this hike counterclockwise.
The path is continuously marked with the black-and-white cardinal beetle symbol.

From the parking lot, walk towards the clearly visible stele of the Possen primeval forest path. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be watched by the cheetahs from the adjacent enclosure of the Possen leisure park.
Now follow the trail marker with the black-and-white cardinal beetle eastwards.
At the fork in the trail that follows after just 100 m, take the left path, after the asphalt path, down through the Spierental, where after a further 300 m you will pass the Upper Spierenbrunnen.
In the Upper Spierental, spring waters were captured in 1734 and later expanded into a water storage facility. Already in 1842, a pipeline was laid to supply water to the hunting lodge on the Possen.
The path continues downhill and after 1.2 km you reach the Lower Spierenbrunnen, where it is a good place to rest.
After about 300 m you are at the forest edge (Rescue point KYF-1850), where you keep to the left. Next to the primeval forest path, you are also now on the Barbarossa trail X8 and the Hainleite hiking trail (marked with a red triangle). The path now leads slightly uphill along the forest edge.
From here you can look northeast across the Sondershausen district of Jecha to a ridge. This is the Windleite, the "little sister" of the Hainleite.
After 700 m you reach a fork with hiking signs offering a detour to Büchenbrunn, 300 m away.
A memorial stone there indicates that about 300 years ago hiking was probably more dangerous than today because wolves inhabited the area at that time. At this spot on Shrove Sunday in 1719, the last specimen of its kind was shot.
If you do not take the detour, continue to the next junction which follows after 200 m. There the path turns left and uphill. Shortly afterwards you turn right. After passing the Rescue point KYF-1845, you soon reach the crossroads on the Fürstenberg (300 m above sea level).
At this point, to the right at the Göldner, you meet the access path to the town of Sondershausen. It descends turning right past the Jewish cemetery to the parking lot at the Sondershausen forest office in Possenallee 54. Here there is also a stele and information panels as the gateway to the Possen primeval forest path. A key for climbing the Spatenberg tower can be borrowed at the forest office.
Those starting the hike on the Possen primeval forest path here take the ascent via the Barbarossa trail over the Göldner, passing the Jewish cemetery to the crossroads on the Fürstenberg, where both options meet.
Without the detour towards Sondershausen, your path now ascends leftwards to the Spatenberg. To the right, a path leads to the associated tower.
Built in 1895 as a Bismarck tower, it rises 20 meters high in the open beech forest amidst historic landscape where once stood a fortification.
From the Spatenberg tower you return again via the path. Then you leave the Barbarossa trail and the Hainleite hiking trail. A staircase now leads you into the nature treetop path built in 2020. In the following section, surefootedness is required, but here you get the impression of a “primeval forest of tomorrow”. These are hard-to-access locations that have not been managed for a long time. The path winds along the edge of an escarpment, allowing views down onto the tree crowns from above. This romantic wild path leads you after about 500 m to the Rondell.
The Rondell Sondershausen is one of the most attractive viewpoints of the Hainleite. Clearly visible is the town of Sondershausen with some of its districts. The line of sight begins in the northwest with the Frauenberg (411 m above sea level), one of the local mountains of Sondershausen. Looking northeast your gaze sweeps over the Wippertal valley and the ridges of the Windleite up to the Kyffhäuser mountains, from which the Kyffhäuser monument and the TV tower on the Kulpenberg rise. On the horizon you can see the Harz mountains, with the Brocken (1142 m above sea level) greeting on clear days. In 1910, the Sondershausen Beautification and Transport Association had a bronze orientation plaque installed here. A monument commemorates the student association singers who fell in the First World War.
You stay on the Hainleite hiking trail and follow the signpost towards Bebraer ponds. This path, also called Princesses' path, continues westwards through the forest. Gnarled old tree giants allowed to age with dignity, deadwood trees, and distinctive rocks line the path. To the right you can look into the hillside forest over Sondershausen.
After 500 m, paths intersect at a staircase. You continue straight on the downhill path where surefootedness is sometimes necessary. After another kilometer of descent, a bench invites you to rest from which in the cold season you can see the natural bath Bebraer ponds through the leafless trees.
Your descent ends after another 300 m. The path now winds steeply uphill between the Small and Large Totenberg turning left. At this point you leave the downhill Hainleite hiking trail. After 150 m, you leave the gravel road and switch back to a path that climbs steeply on the right. At the crossroads 300 m ahead, the difficult ascent is over. After crossing a forest road, follow another path that eventually leads into the Dorn alley. At the rescue point KYF-1840, you cross the access road to Possen and walk over the coach path towards your destination, where you may again be awaited by curious cheetahs.
The former hunting lodge on the Possen was built by the princes of Schwarzburg between 1732 and 1738 in Baroque style. Thirty years later, the Possen tower, an eight-story half-timbered building with Baroque dome, was also built in this style. The 42 m high tower is considered the oldest and tallest half-timbered tower of its kind in Europe. Those who climb it have a wonderful view over the land. Today, the area is a popular excursion destination not only for locals, with a leisure park and gastronomy. The biggest attractions include the animal enclosures, the high ropes course, the toddler climbing forest, and a large bouncy castle. |

Für den Urwaldpfad Possen gibt es zwei mögliche Startpunkte:
Variante 1 beginnt und endet am Freizeit- und Erholungspark Possen.
Variante 2 beginnt und endet am südlichen Stadtrand von Sondershausen, in der Nähe des Forstamtes (Possenallee 54).
An beiden Startpunkten befinden sich Holzskulpturen, die einen Habitatbaum mit für den Possenwald typischen Arten darstellen, sowie Tafeln mit Information zu den Besonderheiten des hiesigen Waldes
Die vorliegende Wegbeschreibung beginnt am Freizeit- und Erholungspark Possen (Variante 1). Es wird empfohlen, diese Wanderung entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn vorzunehmen.
Der Weg ist durchgehend mit dem schwarz-weißen Kardinalskäfer-Symbol markiert.

Vom Parkplatz wandern Sie auf die deutlich sichtbare Stele des Urwaldpfades Possen zu. Vielleicht haben Sie Glück und werden dabei von den Geparden aus dem benachbarten Gehege des Freizeitparks Possen beäugt.
Folgen Sie nun der Wegmarkierung mit dem schwarz-weißen Kardinalskäfer in östlicher Richtung.
Bei der bereits nach 100 m folgenden Weggabelung wandern Sie linkerhand, nach dem asphaltierten Weg, durch das Spierental hinab, wo Sie nach weiteren 300 m den Oberen Spierenbrunnen passieren.
Im Oberen Spierental wurden 1734 die Quellwässer gefasst und später zu einer Wasserspeicheranlage ausgebaut. Bereits 1842 legte man eine Leitung zur Wasserversorgung zum Jagdschloss auf dem Possen.
Der Weg führt weiter bergab und nach 1,2 km erreichen Sie den Unteren Spierenbrunnen, wo es sich rasten lässt.
Nach etwa 300 m sind Sie am Waldrand (Rettungspunkt KYF-1850), wo Sie sich links halten. Neben dem Urwaldpfad befinden Sie sich nun zugleich auf dem Barbarossaweg X8 und dem Hainleite-Wanderweg (Markierung rotes Dreieck). Der Weg führt nun leicht ansteigend am Waldessaum entlang.
Dabei können Sie in nördöstlicher Richtung über den Sondershäuser Stadtteil Jecha hinweg zu einem Höhenzug blicken. Dabei handelt es sich um die Windleite, die „kleinere Schwester“ der Hainleite.
Nach 700 m gelangen Sie an eine Weggabelung mit Wanderwegweisern, auf denen ein Abstecher zum 300 m entfernten Büchenbrunn angeboten wird.
Dort weist ein Gedenkstein darauf hin, dass vor etwa 300 Jahren das Wandern wahrscheinlich gefährlicher war als heutzutage, weil seinerzeit Wölfe das Gebiet bevölkerten. An dieser Stelle wurde am Fastnachtsonntag des Jahres 1719 das letzte Exemplar seiner Gattung durch Abschuss erlegt.
Falls Sie keinen Abstecher unternehmen, wandern Sie zur nächsten Weggabelung, die nach 200 m folgt. Dort führt der Weg links abbiegend bergan. Kurz danach biegen Sie rechts ab. Nachdem Sie den Rettungspunkt KYF-1845 passiert haben, erreichen Sie wenig später das Wegekreuz auf dem Fürstenberg (300 m NN).
An dieser Stelle treffen Sie rechterhand am Göldner auf den Zuweg in die Stadt Sondershausen. Er führt rechtsabbiegend am Jüdischen Friedhof vorüber zum Parkplatz am Forstamt Sondershausen in der Possenallee 54 hinab. Auch hier befinden sich eine Stele und Informationstafeln als Eingangstor für den Urwaldpfad Possen. Im Forstamt kann ein Schlüssel für die Besteigung des Spatenbergturmes ausgeliehen werden.
Wer die Wanderung auf dem Urwaldpfad Possen hier beginnt, nimmt über den Barbarossaweg den Aufstieg über den Göldner, den Jüdischen Friedhof passierend zum Wegekreuz auf dem Fürstenberg vor, wo sich beide Varianten treffen.
Ohne den Abstecher in Richtung Sondershausen führt Ihr Weg nun linksabbiegend zum Spatenberg hinauf. Rechterhand führt ein Pfad zum dazugehörigen Turm.
Dieser wurde im Jahre 1895 als Bismarckturm errichtet. Inmitten geschichtsträchtiger Landschaft, wo früher eine Zwingburg stand, erhebt sich der 20 Meter hohe Aussichtsturm aus dem lichten Rotbuchenwald.
Vom Spatenbergturm kehren Sie wieder über den Pfad zurück. Anschließend verlassen Sie den Barbarossaweg und Hainleite-Wanderweg. Eine Treppe lässt Sie nun in den 2020 errichteten Naturbaumkronenpfad eintauchen. Auf dem nun folgenden Abschnitt ist Trittsicherheit erforderlich, aber hier bekommen Sie den Eindruck eines „Urwaldes von morgen“. Es handelt sich um schlecht zugängliche Standorte, die bereits lange Zeit nicht bewirtschaftet wurden. Der Pfad schlängelt sich an der Abbruchkante entlang. Dadurch können Sie von oben auf die Kronen der Bäume blicken. Dieser wildromantische Pfad führt Sie nach ca. 500 m zum Rondell.
Das Rondell Sondershausen ist einer der attraktivsten Aussichtspunkte der Hainleite. Deutlich zu sehen ist natürlich die Stadt Sondershausen mit einigen ihrer Stadtteile. Die Blickachse beginnt im Nordwesten mit dem Frauenberg (411 m NN), einem der Sondershäuser Hausberge. In nordöstlicher Richtung schweift Ihr Blick über das Wippertal und die Höhenzüge der Windleite bis zum Kyffhäusergebirge, aus dem das Kyffhäuserdenkmal und der Fernsehturm auf dem Kulpenberg herausragen. Am Horizont sehen Sie den Harz, wobei bei klarer Sicht der Brocken (1142 m NN) grüßt. Im Jahre 1910 ließ hier der Verschönerungs- und Verkehrsverein Sondershausen eine bronzene Orientierungstafel anbringen. Ein Denkmal erinnert an die im ersten Weltkrieg gefallenen Sänger studentischer Verbindungen.
Sie bleiben auf dem Hainleite-Wanderweg und folgen dabei dem Wanderwegweiser in Richtung Bebraer Teiche. Dieser auch Prinzessinnenweg genannte Pfad führt weiter in Richtung Westen mitten durch den Wald. Knorrige alte Baumriesen, die in Würde altern dürfen und Totholzbäume sowie markante Felsen säumen den Weg. Rechterhand können Sie in den Hangwald über Sondershausen blicken.
Nach 500 m kreuzen sich an einer Treppe die Wege. Sie bleiben geradeaus auf dem bergab führenden Pfad, wobei stellenweise Trittsicherheit erforderlich ist. Nachdem Sie einen weiteren Kilometer Ihres Abstiegs bewältigt haben, lädt eine Bank zur Rast ein, von der Sie in der kalten Jahreszeit durch die dann kahlen Bäume das Naturbad Bebraer Teiche sehen können.
Ihr Abstieg endet nach weiteren 300 m. Der Weg schlängelt sich nun zwischen dem Kleinen und dem Großen Totenberg linksabbiegend steil bergan. An dieser Stelle trennen Sie sich von dem bergab führenden Hainleite-Wanderweg. Bereits nach 150 m verlassen Sie den Schotterweg und wechseln wieder auf einen Pfad, der rechterhand steil bergan führt. An der nach weiteren 300 m folgenden Wegkreuzung ist der schwierige Aufstieg vorbei. Nachdem Sie eine Forststraße gequert haben, folgen Sie einem weiteren Pfad, der schließlich in die Dornallee mündet. Am Rettungspunkt KYF-1840 queren Sie die Zufahrtsstraße zum Possen und laufen über den Kutschenweg auf Ihr Ziel zu, wo Sie möglicherweise wieder von neugierigen Geparden erwartet werden.
Das ehemalige Jagdschloss auf dem Possen ließen zwischen 1732 und 1738 die Schwarzburger Fürsten im Barockstil errichten. In diesem Stil entstand auch dreißig Jahre später der Possenturm, ein achtgeschossiger Fachwerkbau mit Barockhaube. Der 42 m hohe Turm gilt als der älteste und höchste Fachwerkturm seiner Art in Europa. Wer ihn erklimmt, hat eine wunderschöne Aussicht über das Land. Heute ist das Gelände nicht nur bei den Einheimischen ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel mit Freizeitpark und Gastronomie. Zu den größten Attraktionen zählen die Tiergehege, der Hochseilgarten, der Kleinkindkletterwald und eine große Hüpfburg. |

<p>Il existe deux points de départ possibles pour le parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen :</p>

<p>Depuis le <strong>parking</strong>, vous marchez vers la stèle bien visible du parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen. Vous aurez peut-être la chance d’être observé par les guépards de l'enclos voisin du parc de loisirs Possen.</p>
<p>Suivez ensuite le balisage avec le coccinelle cardinal noir et blanc en direction est.</p>
<p>À la fourche du chemin qui suit déjà après 100 m, prenez à gauche le chemin asphalté, descendez à travers la vallée Spierental, où après 300 m supplémentaires vous passerez la <strong>fontaine supérieure Spierenbrunnen</strong>.</p>
<p>Dans la vallée supérieure Spierental, les eaux de source ont été captées en 1734, puis aménagées en réservoir d’eau. Dès 1842, une conduite a été installée pour l'approvisionnement en eau du château de chasse sur le Possen.</p>
<p>Le chemin descend encore et après 1,2 km, vous atteignez la <strong>fontaine inférieure Spierenbrunnen</strong>, endroit idéal pour une pause.</p>
<p>Après environ 300 m, vous arrivez à la lisière de la forêt (<strong>point de secours KYF-1850</strong>), où vous tenez la gauche. À côté du parcours de la forêt primitive, vous êtes aussi sur la voie Barbarossa X8 et le chemin de randonnée Hainleite (marquage triangle rouge). Le chemin continue légèrement en montée le long de la lisière de la forêt.</p>
<p>Vous pouvez alors, en direction nord-est, admirer la chaîne de collines qui se trouve au-delà du quartier Jecha de Sondershausen, la Windleite, la « petite sœur » de la Hainleite.</p>
<p>Après 700 m, vous arrivez à une bifurcation avec des panneaux indicateurs proposant une excursion vers Büchenbrunn à 300 m.</p>
<p>Un monument rappelle qu'il y a environ 300 ans, la randonnée était sans doute plus dangereuse qu'aujourd'hui parce que les loups peuplaient la région. C’est en ce lieu qu’au dimanche gras de l’année 1719, le dernier spécimen de cette espèce a été abattu.</p>
<p>Si vous ne souhaitez pas faire l'excursion, continuez jusqu'à la prochaine bifurcation après 200 m. Le chemin monte alors à gauche. Peu après, prenez à droite. Après avoir passé le <strong>point de secours KYF-1845</strong>, vous atteignez peu après la <strong>croix de chemins sur le Fürstenberg</strong> (300 m d’altitude).</p>
<p>À cet endroit, à droite, au Göldner, se trouve un <strong>chemin d'accès vers la ville de Sondershausen</strong>. Il descend à droite en passant devant le cimetière juif jusqu’au parking de l’Office des forêts de Sondershausen à la Possenallee 54. Là aussi se trouvent une stèle et des panneaux d'information comme porte d’entrée du parcours de la forêt primitive de Possen. À l’Office des forêts, une clé peut être empruntée pour monter à la tour Spatenberg.</p>
<p>Ceux qui commencent la randonnée sur le parcours de la forêt primitive Possen ici, montent par le chemin Barbarossa en passant par le Göldner et le cimetière juif jusqu’à la croix de chemins sur le Fürstenberg, où les deux variantes se rejoignent.</p>
<p>Sans l'excursion en direction de Sondershausen, your chemin monte à gauche vers le Spatenberg. Un sentier à droite mène à la tour correspondante.</p>
<p>Cette tour a été construite en 1895 comme tour Bismarck. Au milieu d’un paysage chargé d’histoire, où se trouvait autrefois un château fort, la tour d’observation de 20 mètres s’élève de la hêtraie claire.</p>
<p>Depuis la <strong>tour Spatenberg</strong>, vous revenez par le même sentier. Puis vous quittez le chemin Barbarossa et le chemin de randonnée Hainleite. Un escalier vous conduit dans le chemin suspendu dans la canopée inauguré en 2020. Sur cet embranchement, il faut être sûr de ses pas, mais vous obtenez l’impression d’une « forêt primitive de demain ». Il s’agit d’endroits difficilement accessibles, non exploités depuis longtemps. Le chemin serpente le long du bord escarpé. Vous pouvez ainsi regarder du haut les cimes des arbres. Ce chemin sauvage et romantique vous conduit après environ 500 m au <strong>Rond-point</strong>.</p>
<p>Le rond-point de Sondershausen est l’un des points de vue les plus attractifs de la Hainleite. La ville de Sondershausen et certains de ses quartiers sont clairement visibles. L’axe de vue commence au nord-ouest avec le Frauenberg (411 m d’altitude), l’une des montagnes locales de Sondershausen. En direction nord-est, votre regard s’étend sur la vallée du Wipper et les chaînes de collines de la Windleite jusqu’au massif du Kyffhäuser, d’où émergent le monument Kyffhäuser et la tour TV sur le Kulpenberg. À l’horizon se trouve le Harz, avec, en cas de bonne visibilité, le Brocken (1142 m d’altitude). En 1910, le club de promotion et de tourisme de Sondershausen y a fait installer une plaque d’orientation en bronze. Un monument rappelle les chanteurs universitaires tombés durant la Première Guerre mondiale.</p>
<p>Vous restez sur le chemin de randonnée Hainleite en suivant le panneau vers les étangs de Bebraer. Ce chemin, aussi appelé chemin des princesses, continue vers l’ouest au cœur de la forêt. De vieux arbres noueux peuvent vieillir dignement, des arbres morts ainsi que des rochers caractéristiques bordent le chemin. À droite, vous pouvez admirer la forêt de versant au-dessus de Sondershausen.</p>
<p>Après 500 m, les chemins se croisent à un escalier. Vous continuez tout droit sur le chemin descendant, qui exige par endroits d’être sûr de ses pas. Après avoir effectué encore un kilomètre de descente, un banc invite à la pause. Depuis celui-ci, en hiver à travers les arbres dénudés, vous pouvez voir la piscine naturelle des étangs de Bebraer.</p>
<p>Votre descente se termine après 300 m supplémentaires. Le chemin serpente maintenant entre le Petit et le Grand Totenberg, montant à gauche en pente raide. À cet endroit, vous quittez le chemin de randonnée Hainleite descendant. Après seulement 150 m, vous quittez le chemin de gravier et prenez un sentier qui monte en pente raide sur la droite. Au croisement suivant, à 300 m, la montée difficile est terminée. Après avoir traversé une route forestière, vous suivez un autre sentier qui débouche finalement sur l’<strong>allée Dornallee</strong>. Au point de secours <strong>KYF-1840</strong>, vous traversez la route d'accès au Possen et prenez le <strong>chemin des calèches</strong> vers votre destination, où vous êtes peut-être à nouveau attendus par les guépards curieux.</p>
<p>Le château de chasse sur le Possen a été construit entre 1732 et 1738 par les princes de Schwarzbourg dans le style baroque. Trente ans plus tard, la tour Possenturm, un bâtiment à colombages de huit étages avec un toit baroque, fut construite. Cette tour de 42 m est considérée comme la plus ancienne et la plus haute tour à colombages de son genre en Europe. Celui qui la gravit bénéficie d’une vue magnifique sur la région. Aujourd’hui, le site est un lieu de sortie populaire non seulement pour les habitants, avec son parc de loisirs et sa gastronomie. Parmi les principales attractions figurent les enclos animaliers, le parc accrobranche, la forêt d'escalade pour tout-petits et un grand château gonflable.</p> |

<p>There are two possible starting points for the Possen primeval forest path:</p>
<p>Option 1 begins and ends at the Possen leisure and recreation park.</p>
<p>Option 2 begins and ends at the southern outskirts of Sondershausen, near the forest office (Possenallee 54). </p>
<p>At both starting points there are wooden sculptures representing a habitat tree with species typical of the Possen forest, as well as panels with information about the special features of the local forest.</p>
<p>The following route description begins at the Possen leisure and recreation park (Option 1). It is recommended to do this hike counterclockwise.</p>
<p><strong>The path is continuously marked with the black-and-white cardinal beetle symbol.</strong></p>

<p>From the <strong>parking lot</strong>, walk towards the clearly visible stele of the Possen primeval forest path. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to be watched by the cheetahs from the adjacent enclosure of the Possen leisure park.</p>
<p>Now follow the trail marker with the black-and-white cardinal beetle eastwards.</p>
<p>At the fork in the trail that follows after just 100 m, take the left path, after the asphalt path, down through the Spierental, where after a further 300 m you will pass the <strong>Upper Spierenbrunnen</strong>.</p>
<p>In the Upper Spierental, spring waters were captured in 1734 and later expanded into a water storage facility. Already in 1842, a pipeline was laid to supply water to the hunting lodge on the Possen.</p>
<p>The path continues downhill and after 1.2 km you reach the <strong>Lower Spierenbrunnen</strong>, where it is a good place to rest.</p>
<p>After about 300 m you are at the forest edge (<strong>Rescue point KYF-1850</strong>), where you keep to the left. Next to the primeval forest path, you are also now on the Barbarossa trail X8 and the Hainleite hiking trail (marked with a red triangle). The path now leads slightly uphill along the forest edge.</p>
<p>From here you can look northeast across the Sondershausen district of Jecha to a ridge. This is the Windleite, the "little sister" of the Hainleite.</p>
<p>After 700 m you reach a fork with hiking signs offering a detour to Büchenbrunn, 300 m away.</p>
<p>A memorial stone there indicates that about 300 years ago hiking was probably more dangerous than today because wolves inhabited the area at that time. At this spot on Shrove Sunday in 1719, the last specimen of its kind was shot.</p>
<p>If you do not take the detour, continue to the next junction which follows after 200 m. There the path turns left and uphill. Shortly afterwards you turn right. After passing the <strong>Rescue point KYF-1845</strong>, you soon reach the <strong>crossroads on the Fürstenberg</strong> (300 m above sea level).</p>
<p>At this point, to the right at the Göldner, you meet the <strong>access path to the town of Sondershausen</strong>. It descends turning right past the Jewish cemetery to the parking lot at the Sondershausen forest office in Possenallee 54. Here there is also a stele and information panels as the gateway to the Possen primeval forest path. A key for climbing the Spatenberg tower can be borrowed at the forest office.</p>
<p>Those starting the hike on the Possen primeval forest path here take the ascent via the Barbarossa trail over the Göldner, passing the Jewish cemetery to the crossroads on the Fürstenberg, where both options meet.</p>
<p>Without the detour towards Sondershausen, your path now ascends leftwards to the Spatenberg. To the right, a path leads to the associated tower.</p>
<p>Built in 1895 as a Bismarck tower, it rises 20 meters high in the open beech forest amidst historic landscape where once stood a fortification.</p>
<p>From the <strong>Spatenberg tower</strong> you return again via the path. Then you leave the Barbarossa trail and the Hainleite hiking trail. A staircase now leads you into the nature treetop path built in 2020. In the following section, surefootedness is required, but here you get the impression of a “primeval forest of tomorrow”. These are hard-to-access locations that have not been managed for a long time. The path winds along the edge of an escarpment, allowing views down onto the tree crowns from above. This romantic wild path leads you after about 500 m to the <strong>Rondell</strong>.</p>
<p>The Rondell Sondershausen is one of the most attractive viewpoints of the Hainleite. Clearly visible is the town of Sondershausen with some of its districts. The line of sight begins in the northwest with the Frauenberg (411 m above sea level), one of the local mountains of Sondershausen. Looking northeast your gaze sweeps over the Wippertal valley and the ridges of the Windleite up to the Kyffhäuser mountains, from which the Kyffhäuser monument and the TV tower on the Kulpenberg rise. On the horizon you can see the Harz mountains, with the Brocken (1142 m above sea level) greeting on clear days. In 1910, the Sondershausen Beautification and Transport Association had a bronze orientation plaque installed here. A monument commemorates the student association singers who fell in the First World War.</p>
<p>You stay on the Hainleite hiking trail and follow the signpost towards Bebraer ponds. This path, also called Princesses' path, continues westwards through the forest. Gnarled old tree giants allowed to age with dignity, deadwood trees, and distinctive rocks line the path. To the right you can look into the hillside forest over Sondershausen.</p>
<p>After 500 m, paths intersect at a staircase. You continue straight on the downhill path where surefootedness is sometimes necessary. After another kilometer of descent, a bench invites you to rest from which in the cold season you can see the natural bath Bebraer ponds through the leafless trees.</p>
<p>Your descent ends after another 300 m. The path now winds steeply uphill between the Small and Large Totenberg turning left. At this point you leave the downhill Hainleite hiking trail. After 150 m, you leave the gravel road and switch back to a path that climbs steeply on the right. At the crossroads 300 m ahead, the difficult ascent is over. After crossing a forest road, follow another path that eventually leads into the <strong>Dorn alley</strong>. At the rescue point <strong>KYF-1840</strong>, you cross the access road to Possen and walk over the <strong>coach path</strong> towards your destination, where you may again be awaited by curious cheetahs.</p>
<p>The former hunting lodge on the Possen was built by the princes of Schwarzburg between 1732 and 1738 in Baroque style. Thirty years later, the Possen tower, an eight-story half-timbered building with Baroque dome, was also built in this style. The 42 m high tower is considered the oldest and tallest half-timbered tower of its kind in Europe. Those who climb it have a wonderful view over the land. Today, the area is a popular excursion destination not only for locals, with a leisure park and gastronomy. The biggest attractions include the animal enclosures, the high ropes course, the toddler climbing forest, and a large bouncy castle.</p> |

<p>Depuis la gare, il faut environ une demi-heure à pied jusqu’au point de départ de la randonnée en périphérie sud près de l'Office des forêts de Sondershausen (Possenallee 54). Si vous souhaitez éviter la marche, vous pouvez prendre le bus ligne 1 de la gare jusqu’à l’arrêt "Sondershausen Sportzentrum", puis marcher 5 minutes jusqu’au point de départ.</p>
<p>Si vous commencez votre randonnée au parc de loisirs et de détente Possen, il est conseillé de prévoir votre randonnée pour le week-end ou de venir en voiture : les bus ligne 6 circulent du 01.04. au 31.10. les samedis, dimanches et jours fériés de la gare jusqu’à Possen (<a href="https://www.regionalbus.de/images/downloads/sdh/6.pdf">https://www.regionalbus.de/images/downloads/sdh/6.pdf</a>).</p>

<p>Train connections with bus connections can be explored via the <a href="https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/">German Rail travel portal</a>.</p>
<p>It takes about half an hour on foot from the station to the start of the hike at the southern outskirts near the Sondershausen forest office (Possenallee 54). If you want to save walking, you can take bus line 1 from the station to the stop "Sondershausen Sportzentrum", from where it is 5 minutes to the start.</p>
