In den 1960er Jahren wurde der Carl-Escher-Weg als Wanderweg vom Thüringerwald-Verein Coburg konzipiert. Er ist benannt nach dem ehemaligen Vorsitzenden des Vereins. Mit einigen Anpassungen kann der Weg auch mit dem Rad erfahren werden. Bitte beachten Sie dabei: Im Bereich Lauterburg/Herzogsbrunnen, im Weißbachsgrund und im Gebiet Bad Rodach/Mährenhausen gibt es Etappen, die nur für geübte Mountainbiker geeignet sind und nicht für den Durchschnittsradler zu empfehlen sind. Die Tour startet in Rödental, wo man gleich zu Beginn der Tour das Schloss Rosenau mit seinem romatischen Landschaftspark bestaunen kann. Hier wurde 1819 der wohl berühmteste Coburger Prinz geboren: Prinz Albert von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha, der 1840 seine Cousine Queen Victoria heiratete. Nach einem kurzen aber intensiven Anstieg erreicht man die Ruine Lauterburg, von wo aus man einen wunderbaren Ausblick über das Coburger Land hat und im Schatten ein Picknick genießen kann. Die Tour führt weiter nach Lautertal und danach hinauf auf die Langen Berge. Auf der Sennigshöhe nahe Mirsdorf kann man in der Alexandrinenhütte an den Wochenenden von Ostern bis Oktober Rast machen und einen kleinen Imbiss zu sich nehmen. Danach geht es wieder hinunter und gemächlich durch kleine Ortschaften durch den westlichen Teil des Landkreises Coburg, bis man sich langsam der Stadt Coburg nähert. Wenn man Weidach passiert hat, lohnt sich ein Abstecher zum Schloss Callenberg im Coburger Stadtteil Beiersdorf. Das Schloss diente den Coburger Herzögen als Jagd- und Sommerresidenz und ist noch heute im Besitz des Hauses Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha. Im Schloss kann man den Herzoglichen Kunstbesitz bestaunen. Ein Schlosstrakt beherbergt außerdem das Deutsche Schützenmuseum. Danach durchquert man die Stadt Coburg und gelangt im weiteren Verlauf durch den Hofgarten zur Veste Coburg. Hier kann man nicht nur durch die historischen Räume schlendern, sondern sich auch die bekannten Kunstsammlungen anschauen und den Panoramablick über das Coburger Land genießen. Nach dem Zwischenstopp geht es entspannt wieder nach Rödental zurück. Der Weg ist durchgängig mit einem roten Punkt auf weißem Grund beschildert.

Dans les années 1960, le chemin Carl-Escher a été conçu comme un sentier de randonnée par l'association Thuringerwald-Verein Coburg. Il porte le nom de l'ancien président de l'association. Avec quelques ajustements, le parcours peut également être parcouru à vélo. Veuillez noter : dans les zones Lauterburg/Herzogsbrunnen, dans le Weißbachsgrund et dans la région de Bad Rodach/Mährenhausen, il existe des étapes adaptées uniquement aux vététistes expérimentés et déconseillées aux cyclistes moyens. Le parcours commence à Rödental, où l'on peut admirer dès le début du parcours le château de Rosenau avec son parc romantique. C’est là que, en 1819, est né le prince le plus célèbre de Cobourg : le prince Albert de Saxe-Cobourg et Gotha, qui épousa en 1840 sa cousine la reine Victoria. Après une montée courte mais intense, on atteint la ruine Lauterburg, d'où l'on profite d'une vue magnifique sur la région de Cobourg et d'un pique-nique à l'ombre. Le parcours continue vers Lautertal, puis monte vers les Langen Berge. Sur la Sennigshöhe près de Mirsdorf, on peut faire une pause à la cabane Alexandrinenhütte les week-ends d'avril à octobre et prendre une petite collation. Ensuite, la descente s’effectue tranquillement à travers de petits villages dans la partie ouest du district de Cobourg, jusqu’à approcher doucement la ville de Cobourg. En passant Weidach, une excursion au château Callenberg dans le quartier Beiersdorf de Cobourg vaut la peine. Le château servait de résidence de chasse et d’été aux ducs de Cobourg et appartient encore aujourd'hui à la maison de Saxe-Cobourg et Gotha. On peut y admirer les collections ducale d'art. Une aile du château abrite également le musée allemand des tireurs d'élite. Puis, on traverse la ville de Cobourg et on rejoint, par le jardin de la cour, la forteresse Veste Cobourg. Là, on peut non seulement flâner dans les salles historiques, mais aussi admirer les collections d'art célèbres et profiter de la vue panoramique sur la région de Cobourg. Après cet arrêt, le retour à Rödental se fait tranquillement. Le chemin est balisé en continu par un point rouge sur fond blanc.

In the 1960s, the Carl-Escher-Weg was designed as a hiking trail by the Thuringian Forest Association Coburg. It is named after the former chairman of the association. With some adjustments, the path can also be experienced by bike. Please note: In the areas of Lauterburg/Herzogsbrunnen, Weißbachsgrund, and Bad Rodach/Mährenhausen, there are sections suitable only for experienced mountain bikers and are not recommended for the average cyclist. The route starts in Rödental, where at the very beginning you can admire Rosenau Castle with its romantic landscape park. Then it goes back down and leisurely through small villages in the western part of the Coburg district until you slowly approach the city of Coburg. After passing Weidach, a detour to Callenberg Castle in the Coburg district of Beiersdorf is worthwhile. The castle served the Coburg dukes as a hunting and summer residence and is still owned by the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. In the castle, you can admire the ducal art collection. One wing of the castle also houses the German Shooting Museum. Afterwards, you pass through the city of Coburg and then go through the Hofgarten to the Veste Coburg. Here you can not only stroll through the historic rooms but also view the well-known art collections and enjoy the panoramic view over the Coburg region. After the stop, it is a relaxed return to Rödental. The path is continuously marked with a red dot on a white background.
