Der gelben Punktmarkierung folgend geht man auf den Straßenbrücken über die Elster und die Bahnstrecke der Elstertalbahn, um dann geradeaus mit Vorsicht die B 92 zu überschreiten. Ein schmaler Pfad führt aufwärts durch eine Gartenanlage in den Wald. Auf schmalen Pfaden mit vielen Kehren und vorbei an mehreren Aussichtspunkten auf Felskanzeln erreicht man am Mühlberg den Greizer Ortsteil Rothenthal. Es lohnt sich auf dem gesamten Rundweg immer wieder zu verharren und den Blick in die Umgebung schweifen zu lassen. Man bleibt weiter auf der Höhe, kommt an einem Ehrenmal vorbei und gelangt in das Waldgebiet der Eichleite. Bald muss man links im spitzen Winkel zur Elster absteigen. Unter der alten Bahnstrecke und vorbei an einem alten Flusswehr kommt man erneut zur B 92, wo man an der Elsterbrücke die Straße überquert. Gleich nach Überquerung der Elster biegt man wieder links ab und wandert wieder durch Wald. Nun führt der Wanderpfad auf der Rothenthalleite rechtsseitigoberhalb der Weißen Elster am Hang entlang. Am Basteifelsen hat man einen fantastischen Blick auf Rothenthal. Danach geht man im Wald weiter bis zum Ausgangspunkt dieser kleinen Wandertour.

Il vaut la peine de s'arrêter fréquemment sur tout le parcours circulaire pour laisser son regard parcourir les environs. On reste en hauteur, on passe devant un monument aux morts et on atteint la zone forestière de la Eichleite. Bientôt, il faut descendre à gauche à un angle aigu vers l'Elster. Sous l'ancienne voie ferrée et en passant devant un ancien barrage sur la rivière, on rejoint à nouveau la B 92, où l'on traverse la route au pont sur l'Elster.
