Der Rundweg beginnt an der Synagoge Memmelsdorf und führt zumeist auf Feld- und Waldwegen durch die reizvolle Landschaft der Haßberge. Informations-Stelen erläutern die historischen Fakten. Idealerweise starten Sie mit dem einzigen größeren Anstieg von der Synagoge Memmelsdorf aus in Richtung Westen nach Wüstenwelsberg. Innerorts von Memmelsdorf führt ein Weg zum jüdischen Friedhof. Eine Alternative über Obermerzbach führt zu einer Kirche aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. In Untermerzbach schließt der südliche Abschnitt des Geschichtspfades kurz nach dem jüdischen Friedhof an. Die Strecke zwischen beiden Synagogen beträgt etwa 10 km auf dem direkten Weg Memmelsdorf-Untermerzbach-Gleusdorf oder etwa 17km über Schloss Gereuth. Alternative to the Memmelsdorf Jewish Cemetery: From the old bakehouse on the main road between the church and Alster Bridge, a path leads to the Memmelsdorf Jewish Cemetery (Alternative C). If you keep right before the village entrance on the return, you will be guided back to the main path north of the stele at the former Memmelsdorf station. This detour extends the circular route by 3 km. Shortly after Wüstenwelsberg – after the thematic stele about Friedrich Rückert – the path runs through the former landscape park of Gereuth Castle. Shortly after the markings of the Rückert Path or the history trail leave the well-kept forest path and cross the Fox Path, it is worthwhile to follow the wooden sign "Rückert Stones." Soon after the "Memmelsdorf Station" stele, you will immediately overcome the greatest incline of the entire circular path. It follows the Friedrich Rückert Path up to Gereuth.</p> <p>Alternative to the Memmelsdorf Jewish Cemetery:</p> <p>From the old bakehouse on the main road between the church and Alster Bridge, a path leads to the Memmelsdorf Jewish Cemetery (Alternative C). If you keep right before the village entrance on the return, you will be guided back to the main path north of the stele at the former Memmelsdorf station. This detour extends the circular route by 3 km.</p> <p>Shortly after Wüstenwelsberg – after the thematic stele about Friedrich Rückert – the path runs through the former landscape park of Gereuth Castle. Shortly after the markings of the Rückert Path or the history trail leave the well-kept forest path and cross the Fox Path, it is worthwhile to follow the wooden sign "Rückert Stones." This leads to the former dance site with the Rückert monument.</p> <p>The hiking trail then leads via a narrow path to Gereuth Castle. Those who enjoy a beautiful view into the Coburg region and the edges of the Main Valley (Banz Castle) return to the paved path and choose the cycling route to Gereuth Castle. A sign in the forest points to the Therese Column. In sight of the castle, you should briefly turn left to not miss the information stele.</p> <p>Alternative via Obermerzbach:</p> <p>The circular route can be shortened by about 3 km if Alternative A via Obermerzbach is chosen. There, a look into a 12th-century church – probably one of the oldest preserved church buildings in the region – is possible.</p> <p>Alternative within Untermerzbach:</p> <p>Alternative B shortens the circular route by about 1.3 km.</p> <p>The complete circular route runs from the village entrance of Untermerzbach via the Jewish cemetery (right 350 m). This part of the circular route is identical with a loop of the southern route of Traces of Jewish History at the Rodach source. A seamless transition is possible shortly after the Jewish cemetery.</p> <p>On this route (Memmelsdorf – Gereuth – Untermerzbach – Gleusdorf), the path between the two synagogues has a length of about 17 km. It can be reduced to about 10 km if you follow Judengasse from the Memmelsdorf Synagogue towards the former school. The path leads directly to Untermerzbach – about 1.5 km along a road – and past the castle to Gleusdorf. Both variants are partially signed with distance information.</p> <p>The markings for the alternatives have the corresponding letter in a grey triangle.
