Als Markierung dient der blaue Querstrich in Verbindung mit dem Logo des Vogtland Panoramaweges. Am Rathaus vorbei führt der Weg über den Lutherplatz, der von 1588 bis 1873 als Gottesacker diente, zur Siedlung am Brunnen. Durch die Schrebergartensiedlung kommen wir zur Umgehungsstraße B283. Nach Vorsichtiger Überquerung wandern wir durch den idyllischen Poetenwald, der nach dem in Markneukirchen lange Zeit beheimateten Dichter Julius Mosen (Andreas Hofer Lied) benannt wurde, zur Ortsverbindungsstraße Markneukirchen – Breitenfeld. Die Markierung bleibt der blaue Querstrich, der uns vorbei am Waldbad Breitenfeld, ein kurzes Stück bergan, hinunter zum Hirschmühlenteich bringt. Langsam ansteigend im Talgrund gehen wir zum „Kleinen Schwarzen Teich", dann hinauf zu den Häusern von Friebus. Wir überqueren hier wieder die viel befahrene Bundesstraße B283 und nach einer Rast mit weitem Fernblick wandern wir zur kleinen Siedlung Wacholderbusch. Oberhalb des Ziegenlohbachtales wechseln wir auf die gelbe Markierung, das Logo des VPW bleibt uns weiter treu. Auf der Höhe bleibend zieht der Weg über den Mittelberg zur Spornreuth, einer früheren Richtstätte. Eine Hinweistafel informiert über die blutige Geschichte dieses Waldstückes. Über einen herrlich naturbelassenen Weg kommen wir hinunter nach Erlbach, ins Ortszentrum des Luftkurortes. Der zentrale Wander-Wegweiser steht gegenüber dem Gasthof Tauscher und der Sparkasse. Wir orientieren uns nun (ohne das VPW Logo) nach der grünen Markierung und laufen zum Lindenplatz. Wenige Meter nach dem Platz bergan, biegen wir nach rechts in den Badesteig ein (ohne Markierung). Immer im Talgrund, am Schwimmbad, den Sportanlagen und der Musikhalle vorbei, erreichen wir den Ausgangspunkt unserer Wanderung, den Marktplatz von Markneukirchen

Nous traversons à nouveau la très fréquentée Bundesstraße B283 et, après une pause avec une vue dégagée, nous marchons vers la petite colonie Wacholderbusch. Au-dessus de la vallée Ziegenlohbach, nous passons à la signalisation jaune, mais le logo du VPW reste toujours présent. En restant en hauteur, le chemin continue par le Mittelberg jusqu’à la Spornreuth, un ancien lieu d’exécution. Un panneau informe sur l’histoire sanglante de ce bois. Un sentier merveilleusement naturel descend vers Erlbach, le centre de la station climatique. Le panneau d’orientation principal se trouve en face de la Gasthof Tauscher et de la caisse d’épargne. Nous nous orientons désormais (sans le logo VPW) selon la signalisation verte jusqu’à la place du tilleul. Quelques mètres après la place, en montée, nous tournons à droite dans le Badesteig (sans signalisation). Toujours dans le fond de la vallée, en passant par la piscine, les installations sportives et la salle de musique, nous atteignons le point de départ de notre randonnée, la place du marché de Markneukirchen.
