Der Rundwanderweg startet beim Wanderparkplatz Mallinde bei Berka v.d. Hainich und führt über die sagenumwobene Silberbornlinde und die Wüstung Sulzrieden am Südhang des Burgberges entlang und dann zurück zum Wanderparkplatz. Wer auf diesem Weg wandert, kann die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels im Nationalpark Hainich deutlich erkennen. Der Verlauf dieses Weges wurde im April 2020 verlegt, da von den auf dem Burgberg flächig absterbenden Buchen eine deutlich erhöhte Gefährdung ausging. Nun wandert man in einiger Entfernung.

Le parcours circulaire commence au parking de randonnée Mallinde près de Berka v.d. Hainich et passe par le tilleul légendaire Silberbornlinde ainsi que par la désertification de Sulzrieden sur le versant sud du Burgberg avant de revenir au parking. Ceux qui empruntent ce chemin peuvent clairement observer les effets du changement climatique dans le Parc National de Hainich. Le tracé de ce chemin a été déplacé en avril 2020 en raison du risque accru représenté par les hêtres mourants en grand nombre sur le Burgberg. Désormais, on randonne à une certaine distance.

The circular hiking trail starts at the Mallinde hiking car park near Berka v.d. Hainich and leads past the legendary Silberborn lime tree and the deserted village of Sulzrieden on the southern slope of the Burgberg, then back to the hiking car park. Those who hike this path can clearly see the effects of climate change in the National Park Hainich. Zahlreiche abgestorbene Bäume sind im Waldbestand an den Hängen zu erkennen. Dabei handelt es sich nicht nur im kleinere Fichtenbestände, sondern auch um alte Buchen. Aufgrund hoher Sonneneinstrahlung, geringer Niederschläge und hoher Temperatur sind die alten Buchenwälder an diesen südexponierten Hänge an ihre Grenzen geraten. Im Sommer 2018 (nach dem Extremjahr 2017) starben sie ab.
