Die Große Bermerrunde führt uns vom Wanderparkplatz am Ententeich durch herrliche Bergwiesen im Schlauchental auf den historischen Rennsteig und weiter zum beliebten Ausflugsziel, der Bermerhütte. schema:value @de Startpunkt der Runde ist der Wanderparkplatz am Ententeich im Dornsental. Der Weg führt uns zunächst rechts am Ententeich vorbei in Richtung Schlauchental. Herrliche Bergwiesen, auf denen einst Pferde und Kühe grasten, begleiten uns hinauf bis zum Rennsteig. Eine Ruhebank lädt zum Verweilen ein. Oben auf dem Rennsteig angekommen, treffen wir auf die Wegkreuzung „Ruhlaer Häuschen“. Aufmerksame Wanderer werden sich wahrscheinlich fragen, wo denn das namensgebende „Ruhlaer Häuschen“ ist? Gemeint ist damit das herzogliche Jagdschloss welches im 18. Jh. in der Nähe gestanden hat und zur Auerhahn- und Rotwildpirsch diente. Heute ist von dem einstigen Prunkbau nichts mehr zu erkennen. Lediglich eine Schutzhütte befindet sich hier, welche oft von den Rennsteigwanderern als Unterschlupf genutzt wird. Ein großer Obelisk aus Granit markiert ebenfalls die Wegekreuzung und wird gern als Fotomotiv genutzt. Nach 250 Metern, Richtung Ascherbrück laufend, können Sie einen Holzschlüssel, hoch angebracht an einer Buche, entdecken. Dieser symbolisiert ein ehemaliges Versteck für einen Schlüssel, der einst zu einem Gebäuderest des Ruhlaer Häuschen gepasst hat. Nun setzen wir unsere Wanderung weiter auf dem Rennsteig fort und erreichen nach ca. zwei Kilometern den Waldgasthof „Hubertushaus“ auf Ascherbrück. Die Straße überquerend, nehmen wir nach ca. 100 Metern rechterhand den Abzweig zur Bermerhütte, wo wir nach einem weiteren Kilometer ankommen. Rasten wir eine Weile und lassen wir den Blick ein wenig schweifen in Richtung Alexanderturm und die Hörselberge. Der nun vor uns liegende Weg führt beständig bergab durch einen herrlichen Buchenbestand zum Dichterhain, der Gedenkstätte für Rühler Persönlichkeiten, die sich auf kulturellem Gebiet einen Namen gemacht haben. Weiter führt uns der Weg, vorbei an der Motocross-Strecke, bis ans obere Ende des Bermbachtals. Überqueren Sie nun die Straße, es geht am Wagners Teich vorbei, hinauf zum Engestieg. Auf halber Strecke können Sie einen kurzen Abstecher zum Clauss-Born machen. Weiter auf dem Engestieg, kommen Sie erneut an schönen Bergwiesen vorbei und erreichen so den ehemaligen „Steinbruch Engestieg“. Heute ist dieser ein geologisches Denkmal. Auf einer dort befindlichen Informationstafel zur GeoRoute 9 ist die interessante Geschichte des 1955 geschlossenen Steinbruchs nachzulesen. Jetzt geht es in der Knaudtstraße wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt am Ententeich.

Once at the top of the Rennsteig, we come across the crossroads "Ruhlaer Häuschen." Observant hikers will probably wonder where the namesake "Ruhlaer Häuschen" is? This refers to the ducal hunting lodge which stood nearby in the 18th century and was used for capercaillie and red deer hunting. Today, nothing remains of the once magnificent building. Only a shelter is located here, often used as a refuge by Rennsteig hikers. A large granite obelisk also marks the crossroads and is popular as a photo motif. Oben auf dem Rennsteig angekommen, treffen wir auf die Wegkreuzung „Ruhlaer Häuschen“. Aufmerksame Wanderer werden sich wahrscheinlich fragen, wo denn das namensgebende „Ruhlaer Häuschen“ ist? Gemeint ist damit das herzogliche Jagdschloss welches im 18. Jh. in der Nähe gestanden hat und zur Auerhahn- und Rotwildpirsch diente. Heute ist von dem einstigen Prunkbau nichts mehr zu erkennen. Lediglich eine Schutzhütte befindet sich hier, welche oft von den Rennsteigwanderern als Unterschlupf genutzt wird. Ein großer Obelisk aus Granit markiert ebenfalls die Wegekreuzung und wird gern als Fotomotiv genutzt. Nach 250 Metern, Richtung Ascherbrück laufend, können Sie einen Holzschlüssel, hoch angebracht an einer Buche, entdecken. Dieser symbolisiert ein ehemaliges Versteck für einen Schlüssel, der einst zu einem Gebäuderest des Ruhlaer Häuschen gepasst hat. Nun setzen wir unsere Wanderung weiter auf dem Rennsteig fort und erreichen nach ca. zwei Kilometern den Waldgasthof „Hubertushaus“ auf Ascherbrück. Die Straße überquerend, nehmen wir nach ca. 100 Metern rechterhand den Abzweig zur Bermerhütte, wo wir nach einem weiteren Kilometer ankommen. Rasten wir eine Weile und lassen wir den Blick ein wenig schweifen in Richtung Alexanderturm und die Hörselberge. Der nun vor uns liegende Weg führt beständig bergab durch einen herrlichen Buchenbestand zum Dichterhain, der Gedenkstätte für Rühler Persönlichkeiten, die sich auf kulturellem Gebiet einen Namen gemacht haben. Weiter führt uns der Weg, vorbei an der Motocross-Strecke, bis ans obere Ende des Bermbachtals. Überqueren Sie nun die Straße, es geht am Wagners Teich vorbei, hinauf zum Engestieg. Auf halber Strecke können Sie einen kurzen Abstecher zum Clauss-Born machen. Weiter auf dem Engestieg, kommen Sie erneut an schönen Bergwiesen vorbei und erreichen so den ehemaligen „Steinbruch Engestieg“. Heute ist dieser ein geologisches Denkmal. Auf einer dort befindlichen Informationstafel zur GeoRoute 9 ist die interessante Geschichte des 1955 geschlossenen Steinbruchs nachzulesen. Jetzt geht es in der Knaudtstraße wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt am Ententeich.
