Sebastian Herzfeld learned to play several instruments at an early age and has made his living from music since he was twenty. He studied jazz and popular music at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. During his studies, he played bass with musicians from the international world music scene, including Markus Stockhausen, Ramesh Shotham, Chris Jarrett, and Trilok Gurtu.Later, he turned his attention more toward composing film and theater music. As music director of the Neues Theater and the Puppentheater Halle (until 2011) and as a guest at many theaters across Germany—including the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Berliner Ensemble, Schauspiel Frankfurt, and the Burgtheater in Vienna—he has composed over 100 scores for stage productions to date.For the album “Lieder von Liebe und Tod” (Songs of Love and Death), he received the Ruth World Music Award together with singer Bobo and saxophonist Anne Kaftan.Rhythm Workshop with Sebastian Herzfeld: Drawing on my experience working with actors, I’d like to share the joy of making music together. Rhythm is particularly well-suited for this, as it requires no prior knowledge other than a sense of rhythm and a love of the activity. The “exercises” range from rhythmic ball games to body percussion (hands, feet, voice, movement). Everything has a playful character without any pressure to perform. Später wandte er sich mehr dem Komponieren von Film- und Theatermusik zu. Als musikalischer Leiter des Neuen Theaters und des Puppentheaters Halle (bis 2011) und als Gast an vielen Bühnen Deutschlands, u.a. Thalia Theater Hamburg, Berliner Ensemble, Schauspiel Frankfurt und dem Burgtheater Wien, schrieb er bisher über 100 Schauspielmusiken. Für das Album "Lieder von Liebe und Tod" erhielt er gemeinsam mit der Sängerin Bobo und der Saxofonistin Anne Kaftan den Weltmusikpreis Ruth. Rhythmusworkshop mit Sebastian Herzfeld: Durch meine Erfahrung bei der Arbeit mit Schauspielern möchte ich gern die Freude am gemeinsamen Musizieren vermitteln. Dafür eignet sich Rhythmus besonders gut, da man keinerlei Vorkenntnisse braucht außer einem Gefühl für Rhythmus und den Spass daran. Die "Übungen" gehen von rhythmischen Ballspielen bis zu Bodypercussion (Hände, Füße, Stimme, Bewegung). Alles hat einen spielerischen Charakter ohne Leistungsdruck. Mein Ziel ist eher, dass man ein Gefühl dafür bekommt wie schön es ist, einen gemeinsamen Puls durch einen Rhythmus entstehen zu lassen. Ab 14 Jahre.
