Die Deutsch-Deutsche Teilung verlief mitten durch die Rhön. Die Unterschiede sind bis heute zu sehen und zu spüren. Das Rhönerlebnis wird für die Besucher der dadurch nochmals interessanter. Auf dem kurzen Rundweg von knapp 4 Kilometern wird man zu einer Stelle geführt, an welcher dies der Fall ist. Ausgehend von dem kleinen, hochgelegenen Ort Birx führt der ca. einstündige Rundweg über die Hochrhön zu einem ehemaligen Grenzturm der Rhön.  Von diesen sind noch ca. 20 Stück erhalten geblieben. Die wenigsten davon können aber wie dieser betreten werden. Von dem Turm aus eröffnet sich der Blick über die ausgedehnten Wiesenflächen der Rhön. Umso mehr kann man sich bei dem Blick erfreuen, dass diese nicht mehr durch einen Grenzzaun durchschnitten sind.

La division allemande passait en plein milieu de la Rhön. Les différences sont visibles et perceptibles encore aujourd'hui. Cela rend l'expérience de la Rhön encore plus intéressante pour les visiteurs. Sur un court parcours d'environ 4 kilomètres, on est conduit à un endroit où cela est le cas. Partant de la petite localité perchée de Birx, le parcours d'environ une heure traverse la Hochrhön jusqu'à une ancienne tour-frontière de la Rhön. Il en reste environ 20 exemplaires. Très peu d'entre elles peuvent être visitées comme celle-ci. Depuis la tour, la vue s'ouvre sur les vastes prairies de la Rhön. D'autant plus agréable est la vue en se rendant compte qu'elles ne sont plus traversées par une clôture frontalière.

The East-West German division ran right through the Rhön. The differences can still be seen and felt today. This makes the Rhön experience even more interesting for visitors. The short circular route of just under 4 kilometers leads to a place where this is the case. Starting from the small, elevated village of Birx, the approximately one-hour circular route leads over the High Rhön to a former border tower of the Rhön. About 20 of these towers have been preserved. However, very few of them can be entered like this one. From the tower, there is a view over the extensive meadows of the Rhön. All the more you can enjoy the view knowing that these meadows are no longer divided by a border fence.
