Die Wanderung beginnt am Ortsrand von Obereschenbach (Mühlenweg / Parkmöglichkeit an der Eschenbachhalle). Der Wanderer hat die Möglichkeit sowohl die kurze (~ 5 km) als auch die hier beschriebene längere Route des Themenweges zu laufen. An alten Weinbergsmauern entlang führt der Weg am Bandelkreuz aus dem Jahr 1970 vorbei, weiter zum Herzstück der Rundstrecke: Dem restaurierten Kalkbrennofen. Weiter geht es bei herrlicher Aussicht entlang von Wiesen, Weinbergen und Wald. Zwischendurch passiert man an mehreren Stellen die Grenzen des Truppenübungsplatzes. Über den Schlossberg gelangt man schließlich über Schloss Saaleck und die Kreuzigungsgruppe hinab zur Musikakademie und wieder gemütlich zurück nach Obereschenbach.

La randonnée commence en périphérie d'Obereschenbach (Mühlenweg / possibilité de stationnement à la halle Eschenbach). Le randonneur peut choisir soit le parcours court (~ 5 km), soit le parcours plus long décrit ici du sentier thématique. Le chemin longe de vieux murs de vignoble, passe devant la croix Bandel datant de 1970, puis atteint le point central du parcours circulaire : le four à chaux restauré. Ensuite, la promenade continue avec une magnifique vue le long des prairies, vignobles et forêts. À plusieurs endroits, on longe la frontière du champ de tir. Par le Schlossberg, on atteint finalement le château de Saaleck et le groupe de la Crucifixion, puis on descend vers l'académie de musique pour revenir tranquillement à Obereschenbach.

The hike begins on the outskirts of Obereschenbach (Mühlenweg / parking available at the Eschenbachhalle). Hikers have the option to walk either the short (~5 km) or the longer route of the themed trail described here. Along old vineyard walls, the path passes the Bandel cross from 1970, then continues to the centerpiece of the circular route: the restored lime kiln. It continues with beautiful views along meadows, vineyards, and forest. Along the way, the borders of the military training area are passed at several points. Over Schlossberg, you finally reach Saaleck Castle and the crucifixion group before descending to the music academy and then comfortably back to Obereschenbach.

Die touristischen Wege der Rhön werden meistens auch von anderen Aktiven genutzt (Wanderern, Mountainbikern, Radfahrer, Spaziergängern, Reitern, Langläufer, etc.). Wir bitten alle aktiven Natursportler aufeinander Rücksicht zu nehmen. Gleiches gilt natürlich auch für die Natur - diese ist schützenswert. In der Rhön soll deshalb nur auf dafür ausgewiesenen Wegen und Flächen Natursport bei Tageslicht betrieben werden.
