Kreuz- und Sühnesteine, Stein-, Holz-, Wegkreuze und Bildstöcke werden bei dieser beeindruckenden Wanderung gezielt abgelaufen. schema:value @de	<p>Wir starten vor dem schmuckvollen Seßlacher Rathaus am Markplatz. Von da aus geht es durch die Luitpoldstraße mit ihren kleinen Läden durch die sehenswerte Altstadt. Wer sich noch eine Stärkung für die Wanderung mitnehmen möchte, findet dort auch eine Bäckerei. Durch das Geyersberger Tor geht es hinaus aus der Ackerbürgerstadt mit dem mittelalterlichen Mauern. Schon treffen wir am Rückert-Gärtchen, angelehnt an den zweitweise in Seßlach wohnhaften Dichter Friedrich Rückert, auf das erste Marterl <strong>(1)</strong>.</p> <p>An den Parkplätzen vorbei folgen wir den Schildern des Amtsbotenwegs nach rechts auf den Ziegelhüttenweg. Wir überqueren die Staatsstraße und gelangen auf einen Forstweg. Nach ca. 900m entdecken wir das imposante „Xaveriuskreuz“ <strong>(2)</strong> des heiligen Franz Xavers.</p> <p>Nun können wir entscheiden, ob wir die zusätzlichen Marterl auf der linken Seite in Richtung des Schlosses Geyersberg <strong>(A)</strong>, <strong>(B)</strong>, <strong>(C)</strong> und / oder rechter Hand das zusätzliche Marterl "Rotes Kreuz" <strong>(D)</strong> abgehen wollen.</p> <p>Auf der normalen Route geht es weiter geradeaus am Waldrand nach oben. Wir überqueren die Straße zum "Wasserhäuschen", lassen uns in eine Senke treiben, bis wir rechter Hand zum nächsten Marterl <strong>(3)</strong> aufsteigen. Das im Dickicht versteckte Denkmal ist der optimale Platz für eine kurze Rast. Bei gutem Wetter kann man in der Ferne die Veste Heldburg erblicken.</p> <p>Nun geht es wieder hinab zum Marterl <strong>(4)</strong> am Ortsende Seßlachs. Wir laufen bequem auf dem Geh- und Radweg in Richtung der Seßlacher Siedlung und überqueren die Umgehungsstraße der Stadt.</p> <p>Gleich danach machen wir einen Abstecher auf einem Forstweg nach links und besuchen das Marterl <strong>(5)</strong> in der Senke auf der anderen Straßenseite. Den gleichen Weg gehen wir nun wieder zurück bis zum Gehweg, den wir weiter nach links folgen.</p> <p>Wir passieren das Wegkreuz <strong>(6)</strong>, auch „Fuchs-“ oder „Salbkreuz“ genannt, und verlassen den Gehweg, in dem wir die Straße überqueren und in die Thüringer Straße einbiegen. Durch die Seßlacher Siedlung gehen wir am Ende der Straße nach links auf die Poststraße. Hier befindet sich rechter Hand das Barbara-Marterl <strong>(7)</strong>.</p> <p>Weiter bergabwärts stoßen wir schließlich auf den Seßlacher Friedhof. An der äußeren Westwand der Kreuzkapelle entdecken wir das „Pestkreuz“ <strong>(8)</strong>. Durch den Hauptzugang des Friedhofs nach rechts gelangen wir zum neu gestalteten Kreisverkehr vor dem Hattersdorfer Tor der Seßlacher Altstadt. Auf der linken Seite vor dem Tor steht das nächste Marterl <strong>(9)</strong>.</p> <p>Wir biegen anschließend auf den Juliusweg ab, gehen an der ehemaligen Mühle vorbei, bis wir vor dem Rothenberger Tor rechter Hand schon die spätgotische Rodachbrücke erahnen können. Auf ihr thront rechts eine Statue des Johannes von Nepomuk <strong>(10)</strong> und links eine Kreuzgruppe mit dem Wappen des Bistums Würzburg <strong>(11)</strong>.</p> <p>Schließlich gehen wir über die Brücke, halten uns am Kreisel links und stoßen direkt auf das letzte Marterl unserer Wanderung: die so genannte "Italiener-Kapelle" <strong>(12)</strong>. Den gleichen Weg über die Rodachbrücke geht es zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.</p> <p>Die Seßlacher Altstadt mit ihrer hervorragenden Gastronomie lädt als Abschluss der Wanderung zu einer <strong>typisch fränkischen Mahlzeit</strong> und einem <strong>Seßlacher Hausbier</strong>, das "Kommunbräu", ein. schema:value @en	<p>We start in front of the ornate Seßlach town hall at the market square. From there, we go through Luitpoldstrasse with its small shops through the scenic old town. Those who want to take a snack with them for the hike will also find a bakery there. Through the Geyersberger Gate, you leave the farming citizen town with its medieval walls. Soon we encounter the first Marterl <strong>(1)</strong> at the Rückert Garden, named after the poet Friedrich Rückert who lived in Seßlach for a time.</p> <p>Passing the parking lots, we follow the signs of the Amtsbotenweg to the right onto Ziegelhüttenweg. We cross the state road and reach a forest path. After about 900m, we discover the imposing "Xaverius Cross" <strong>(2)</strong> of Saint Francis Xavier.</p> <p>Now we can decide whether we want to visit the additional Marterl on the left side towards Geyersberg Castle <strong>(A)</strong>, <strong>(B)</strong>, <strong>(C)</strong> and/or on the right side the additional Marterl "Red Cross" <strong>(D)</strong>.</p> <p>On the normal route, we continue straight along the forest edge uphill. We cross the road to the "Wasserhäuschen", drift into a hollow until we climb up on the right side to the next Marterl <strong>(3)</strong>. The monument hidden in the thicket is the perfect place for a short rest. In good weather, you can see the Veste Heldburg in the distance.</p> <p>Now it goes back down to the Marterl <strong>(4)</strong> at the edge of Seßlach. We walk comfortably on the pedestrian and bicycle path towards the Seßlach settlement and cross the city's bypass road.</p> <p>Immediately afterwards, we take a detour on a forest path to the left and visit the Marterl <strong>(5)</strong> in the hollow on the other side of the street. We then return the same way to the footpath, which we continue to follow to the left.</p> <p>We pass the wayside cross <strong>(6)</strong>, also called "Fox Cross" or "Salbkreuz", and leave the footpath by crossing the street and turning into Thüringer Strasse. Through the Seßlach settlement, we turn left at the end of the street onto Poststrasse. Here on the right is the Barbara Marterl <strong>(7)</strong>.</p> <p>Continuing downhill, we finally reach the Seßlach cemetery. On the outer west wall of the cross chapel, we discover the "Plague Cross" <strong>(8)</strong>. Through the main entrance of the cemetery to the right, we reach the newly designed roundabout in front of the Hattersdorfer Gate of Seßlach's old town. On the left side in front of the gate stands the next Marterl <strong>(9)</strong>.</p> <p>We then turn onto Juliusweg, pass the former mill, until we can already glimpse the late Gothic Rodach Bridge on the right in front of the Rothenberger Gate. On it, on the right, is a statue of John of Nepomuk <strong>(10)</strong> and on the left a cross group with the coat of arms of the Diocese of Würzburg <strong>(11)</strong>.</p> <p>Finally, we cross the bridge, keep left at the roundabout and come directly to the last Marterl of our hike: the so-called "Italian Chapel" <strong>(12)</strong>. The same route back over the Rodach Bridge leads to the starting point.</p> <p>The Seßlach old town with its excellent gastronomy invites you at the end of the hike to enjoy a <strong>typical Franconian meal</strong> and a <strong>Seßlach house beer</strong>, the "Kommunbräu". De là, nous traversons la Luitpoldstraße avec ses petites boutiques à travers la vieille ville digne d'être vue. Après environ 900 m, nous découvrons la imposante "croix Xaverius" <strong>(2)</strong> de saint François Xavier.</p> <p>Nous pouvons maintenant décider si nous voulons visiter les Marterln supplémentaires sur la gauche en direction du château de Geyersberg <strong>(A)</strong>, <strong>(B)</strong>, <strong>(C)</strong> et/ou de l’autre côté droit le Marterl supplémentaire "Croix Rouge" <strong>(D)</strong>.</p> <p>Sur le parcours normal, nous continuons tout droit en montant en bordure de forêt. Nous traversons la route vers la "maison d'eau", descendons dans une cuvette, puis montons à droite jusqu’au prochain Marterl <strong>(3)</strong>. Le monument caché dans le fourré est l’endroit idéal pour une courte pause. Par beau temps, on peut apercevoir au loin la forteresse de Heldburg.</p> <p>Ensuite, on redescend vers le Marterl <strong>(4)</strong> à la sortie de Seßlach. Nous marchons confortablement sur le chemin piétonnier et cyclable en direction du lotissement de Seßlach et traversons la rocade de la ville.</p> <p>Juste après, nous faisons un détour à gauche sur un chemin forestier pour visiter le Marterl <strong>(5)</strong> dans la cuvette de l’autre côté de la route. Nous reprenons ensuite le même chemin jusqu'au sentier que nous suivons vers la gauche.</p> <p>Nous passons la croix de chemin <strong>(6)</strong>, aussi appelée "Fuchs-" ou "Salbkreuz", et quittons le sentier en traversant la rue pour entrer dans la Thüringer Straße. Nous traversons le lotissement de Seßlach et, au bout de la rue, prenons à gauche sur la Poststraße. Sur la droite se trouve le Barbara-Marterl <strong>(7)</strong>.</p> <p>La descente continue et nous arrivons finalement au cimetière de Seßlach. Sur le mur ouest extérieur de la chapelle de la croix, nous découvrons la "croix de la peste" <strong>(8)</strong>. Par l’entrée principale du cimetière, à droite, nous atteignons le rond-point récemment aménagé devant la porte Hattersdorfer de la vieille ville de Seßlach. Sur la gauche devant la porte se trouve le prochain Marterl <strong>(9)</strong>.</p> <p>Nous tournons ensuite sur le Juliusweg, passons devant l’ancien moulin et apercevons déjà à droite devant la porte Rothenberger le pont gothique tardif sur la Rodach. Sur ce pont, une statue de saint Jean Népomucène trône à droite <strong>(10)</strong> et à gauche, un groupe de croix avec les armoiries du diocèse de Würzburg <strong>(11)</strong>.</p> <p>Enfin, nous traversons le pont, prenons à gauche au rond-point et atteignons directement le dernier Marterl de notre randonnée : la "chapelle des Italiens" <strong>(12)</strong>. Le même chemin sur le pont de la Rodach nous ramène au point de départ.</p> <p>La vieille ville de Seßlach, avec sa gastronomie exceptionnelle, invite en fin de randonnée à un <strong>repas typiquement franconien</strong> et à une <strong>bieraise de Seßlach</strong> appelée "Kommunbräu". Wir starten vor dem schmuckvollen Seßlacher Rathaus am Markplatz. Von da aus geht es durch die Luitpoldstraße mit ihren kleinen Läden durch die sehenswerte Altstadt. Wer sich noch eine Stärkung für die Wanderung mitnehmen möchte, findet dort auch eine Bäckerei. Durch das Geyersberger Tor geht es hinaus aus der Ackerbürgerstadt mit dem mittelalterlichen Mauern. Schon treffen wir am Rückert-Gärtchen, angelehnt an den zweitweise in Seßlach wohnhaften Dichter Friedrich Rückert, auf das erste Marterl (1). An den Parkplätzen vorbei folgen wir den Schildern des Amtsbotenwegs nach rechts auf den Ziegelhüttenweg. Wir überqueren die Staatsstraße und gelangen auf einen Forstweg. Nach ca. 900m entdecken wir das imposante „Xaveriuskreuz“ (2) des heiligen Franz Xavers. Nun können wir entscheiden, ob wir die zusätzlichen Marterl auf der linken Seite in Richtung des Schlosses Geyersberg (A), (B), (C) und / oder rechter Hand das zusätzliche Marterl "Rotes Kreuz" (D) abgehen wollen. Auf der normalen Route geht es weiter geradeaus am Waldrand nach oben. Wir überqueren die Straße zum "Wasserhäuschen", lassen uns in eine Senke treiben, bis wir rechter Hand zum nächsten Marterl (3) aufsteigen. Das im Dickicht versteckte Denkmal ist der optimale Platz für eine kurze Rast. Bei gutem Wetter kann man in der Ferne die Veste Heldburg erblicken. Nun geht es wieder hinab zum Marterl (4) am Ortsende Seßlachs. Wir laufen bequem auf dem Geh- und Radweg in Richtung der Seßlacher Siedlung und überqueren die Umgehungsstraße der Stadt. Gleich danach machen wir einen Abstecher auf einem Forstweg nach links und besuchen das Marterl (5) in der Senke auf der anderen Straßenseite. Den gleichen Weg gehen wir nun wieder zurück bis zum Gehweg, den wir weiter nach links folgen. Wir passieren das Wegkreuz (6), auch „Fuchs-“ oder „Salbkreuz“ genannt, und verlassen den Gehweg, in dem wir die Straße überqueren und in die Thüringer Straße einbiegen. Durch die Seßlacher Siedlung gehen wir am Ende der Straße nach links auf die Poststraße. Hier befindet sich rechter Hand das Barbara-Marterl (7). Weiter bergabwärts stoßen wir schließlich auf den Seßlacher Friedhof. An der äußeren Westwand der Kreuzkapelle entdecken wir das „Pestkreuz“ (8). Durch den Hauptzugang des Friedhofs nach rechts gelangen wir zum neu gestalteten Kreisverkehr vor dem Hattersdorfer Tor der Seßlacher Altstadt. Auf der linken Seite vor dem Tor steht das nächste Marterl (9). Wir biegen anschließend auf den Juliusweg ab, gehen an der ehemaligen Mühle vorbei, bis wir vor dem Rothenberger Tor rechter Hand schon die spätgotische Rodachbrücke erahnen können. Auf ihr thront rechts eine Statue des Johannes von Nepomuk (10) und links eine Kreuzgruppe mit dem Wappen des Bistums Würzburg (11). Schließlich gehen wir über die Brücke, halten uns am Kreisel links und stoßen direkt auf das letzte Marterl unserer Wanderung: die so genannte "Italiener-Kapelle" (12). Den gleichen Weg über die Rodachbrücke geht es zurück zum Ausgangspunkt. Die Seßlacher Altstadt mit ihrer hervorragenden Gastronomie lädt als Abschluss der Wanderung zu einer typisch fränkischen Mahlzeit und einem Seßlacher Hausbier, das "Kommunbräu", ein. We start in front of the ornate Seßlach town hall at the market square. From there, we go through Luitpoldstrasse with its small shops through the scenic old town. Soon we encounter the first Marterl (1) at the Rückert Garden, named after the poet Friedrich Rückert who lived in Seßlach for a time. Passing the parking lots, we follow the signs of the Amtsbotenweg to the right onto Ziegelhüttenweg. We cross the state road and reach a forest path. After about 900m, we discover the imposing "Xaverius Cross" (2) of Saint Francis Xavier. Now we can decide whether we want to visit the additional Marterl on the left side towards Geyersberg Castle (A), (B), (C) and/or on the right side the additional Marterl "Red Cross" (D). On the normal route, we continue straight along the forest edge uphill. We cross the road to the "Wasserhäuschen", drift into a hollow until we climb up on the right side to the next Marterl (3). The monument hidden in the thicket is the perfect place for a short rest. In good weather, you can see the Veste Heldburg in the distance. Now it goes back down to the Marterl (4) at the edge of Seßlach. We walk comfortably on the pedestrian and bicycle path towards the Seßlach settlement and cross the city's bypass road. Immediately afterwards, we take a detour on a forest path to the left and visit the Marterl (5) in the hollow on the other side of the street. We then return the same way to the footpath, which we continue to follow to the left. We pass the wayside cross (6), also called "Fox Cross" or "Salbkreuz", and leave the footpath by crossing the street and turning into Thüringer Strasse. Through the Seßlach settlement, we turn left at the end of the street onto Poststrasse. Here on the right is the Barbara Marterl (7). Continuing downhill, we finally reach the Seßlach cemetery. On the outer west wall of the cross chapel, we discover the "Plague Cross" (8). Through the main entrance of the cemetery to the right, we reach the newly designed roundabout in front of the Hattersdorfer Gate of Seßlach's old town. On the left side in front of the gate stands the next Marterl (9). We then turn onto Juliusweg, pass the former mill, until we can already glimpse the late Gothic Rodach Bridge on the right in front of the Rothenberger Gate. On it, on the right, is a statue of John of Nepomuk (10) and on the left a cross group with the coat of arms of the Diocese of Würzburg (11). Finally, we cross the bridge, keep left at the roundabout and come directly to the last Marterl of our hike: the so-called "Italian Chapel" (12). The same route back over the Rodach Bridge leads to the starting point. The Seßlach old town with its excellent gastronomy invites you at the end of the hike to enjoy a typical Franconian meal and a Seßlach house beer, the "Kommunbräu".
