Die anspruchsvolle Rundtour startet am Besucherzentrum auf der Staumauer der Trinkwassertalsperre Leibis-Lichte und führt über 11,7 km und insgesamt 310 Höhenmetern in das einsam gelegene Örtchen Meura im Thüringer Schiefergebirge. Im Dorf ist das größte Haflingergestüt Europas beheimatet. Pferdekoppeln begleiten den Wanderweg, nachdem der erste steile Aufstieg und die Durchquerung der Meuraer Heide geschafft ist. Die naturnahen Nadelholzwälder und eine reiche Zwergstrauchschicht mit Preisel- und Heidelbeeren sind die Heimat des scheuen Auerhuhns. Weniger scheu sind die Haflinger, die hier seit jahrzehnten gezüchtet werden. Der Besucher findet in Meura Unterkunft und Verpflegung. Unmittelbar am Ortsrand geht ein schmaler felsiger Steig hinab zu den Meurasteinen. Auf dem Rückweg zur Staumauer der Talsperre Leibis-Lichte folgt der Wanderweg dem fjordartigen Trinkwasserresservoir. Dabei bieten sich ein einigen Stellen herrliche Ausblicke und Ruheplätze.

La randonnée circulaire exigeante commence au centre des visiteurs sur le barrage du barrage d'eau potable Leibis-Lichte et s'étend sur 11,7 km avec un total de 310 mètres de dénivelé vers le village isolé de Meura dans le massif schisteux de Thuringe. The challenging circular tour starts at the visitor center on the dam of the Leibis-Lichte drinking water reservoir and leads over 11.7 km and a total of 310 meters elevation to the secluded village of Meura in the Thuringian Slate Mountains. The village is home to the largest Haflinger stud farm in Europe. Horse paddocks accompany the hiking trail after the first steep ascent and crossing of the Meura heath is mastered. The near-natural coniferous forests and a rich dwarf shrub layer with cowberries and blueberries are the habitat of the shy capercaillie. The Haflingers, which have been bred here for decades, are less shy. Visitors will find accommodation and catering in Meura. A narrow rocky path leads down to the Meurasteine immediately on the outskirts. On the way back to the dam of the Leibis-Lichte reservoir, the hiking trail follows the fjord-like drinking water reservoir. Some spots offer wonderful views and places to rest.
