The transport of basalt sparked an economic boom. It also brought tourists to the area in significant numbers for the first time. However, passenger service was suspended as early as 1976, and freight train service on the local railway line came to an end in 1987. But this was only temporary, as the line was revived in 1996 by the Rhön-Zügle, the museum railway of the Franconian Open-Air Museum in Fladungen.What used to be transported by train, and who has ever traveled in “third class”? Doch schon 1976 wurde der Personenverkehr wieder eingestellt, 1987 kam dann auch für den Güterzugverkehr auf der Lokalbahnstrecke das Aus. Aber nur vorübergehend, denn 1996 erfolgte die Wiederbelebung durch das Rhön-Zügle, der Museumsbahn des Fränkischen Freilandmuseums Fladungen.
