Auf dem Rundwanderweg um die Wasserkuppe werden neben mehreren Sehenswürdigkeiten am Berg der Flieger auch ruhigere Gebiete an dessen Ausläufern erwandert.  Der Startpunkt der Tour liegt am Rhön Info Zentrum. In diesem zentralen Bereich der Wasserkuppe findet ihr eine Tourist Information sowie unterschiedliche Läden, Einkehr- und Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten. Auch das Deutsche Segelflugmuseum befindet sich direkt am Start der Tour. In den Räumen des Museums sind viele Yountimer-Maschinen ausgestellt. Auch über den Modellflug wird dort berichten. Auf der Wasserkuppe wird aber nicht nur die Geschicht des Fluges erzählt. Bis heute kann man auf dem höchsten Berg der Rhön Segel- und Motorfllug, Modellflug und Paragliding erleben. Von dem zentralen Platz der Wasserkuppe führt die Rundwanderstrecke in Richtung der Märchenwiesenhütte. Im Sommer und im Winter gibt es hier ein tolles Familienangebot. Bei Schnee im Winter gibt es hier Liftbetrieb - den Rest des Jahres kann auf einer Sommerrodelbahn den Berg hinunter gefahren werden. Ist man an der Märchenwiesenhütte vorbei, führt der Weg in Richtung der Abtsrodaer Kuppe. An dieser Stelle tritt Basalt aus der Erde hervor. In skurillen Formen hat sich dieses Gestein verfestigt. Heute bietet es ein tolles Fotomotiv mit beeindruckendem Panorama auf die umliegende Rhöner Landschaft.  Von der Abstrodaer Kuppe gelangt man an die zwei wohl bekanntesten Punkte auf der Wasserkuppe - das Fliegerdenkmal und das Radom. Beide sind seit vielen Jahren beliebte Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Rhön. Das Fliegerdenkmal erinnert dabei an die gefallenen Flieger des Ersten Weltkrieges. Das Radom wiederum ist das letzte von teils bis zu vier Gebäuden dieser Form, die auf der Wasserkuppe zur Luftraumüberwachung zur Zeit des Kalten Krieges genutzt wurden. Heute dient es als Veranstaltungsraum. Weiter führt der Wanderweg nun über den südwestlichen Ausläufer der Wasserkuppe, vorbei an der Eube und zur Fuldaquelle, bevor man wieder am Ausgangspunkt der Tour angekommt.

The circular route leads from the central square of the Wasserkuppe in the direction of the Märchenwiesenhütte. In summer and winter this is a great family offer. When it snows in winter, the lifts operate there - the rest of the year you can go down the mountain on a summer toboggan run. Once you have passed the Märchenwiesenhütte, the path leads in the direction of the Abtsrodaer Kuppe. At this point, basalt emerges from the earth. This rock formation has solidified in a bizarre form. Today it offers a great photo opportunity with an impressive panorama of the surrounding Rhön landscape. From the Abstrodaer Kuppe you can reach the two most well-known points on the Wasserkuppe - the Fliegerdenkkmal (aviator monument) and the Radom (radome). Both have been popular sights in the Rhön for many years. The aviator memorial commemorates the fallen aviators of the First World War. The radome, on the other hand, is the last of up to four buildings of this form that were used for airspace surveillance during the Cold War. Today it serves as an event space. The hiking trail continues over the south-western foothills of the Wasserkuppe, past the Eube and to the Fuldaquelle, before arriving back at the starting point of the tour.
