Still ist es noch immer auf dem Pfad von Weischlitz gen Südwesten: Vor 1989 kam man nur mit besonderem Grund und Passierschein in den berüchtigten 5km-Streifen kurz vor dem Eisernen Vorhang. Die Landschaft ist friedlich: Über Wiesen und Weiden geht es zur Schönen Aussicht nach Geilsdorf. Immer wieder schiebt sich vom Weg aus die Pirker Autobahnbrücke über die Weiße Elster in den Blick. 1938 wird der Bau begonnen, dann eingestellt und erst 1990–1993 fertiggestellt: Die Friedliche Revolution 1989, die so nah in Plauen beginnt, öffnet letztlich die Grenze - die so wichtigeStraßenverbindung zwischen Sachsen und Franken, zwischen Ost- und Westeuropa ist endlich frei. Für Weischlitz und die umliegenden Dörfchen sind Grenzöffnung und Verkehrsader ein Segen: Trotz aller Verluste des Gewohnten ergeben sich neue Chancen, neue Jobs in unmittelbarer Nähe entstehen - das Leben heute ist nicht mehr das im isolierten Hinterland, sondern mittendrin im Vogtland.

It is still quiet on the path from Weischlitz towards the southwest: before 1989, you could only enter the notorious 5 km strip near the Iron Curtain with special reason and a pass. The landscape is peaceful: across meadows and pastures it goes to the Schön Aussicht near Geilsdorf. The Pirker motorway bridge constantly comes into view over the White Elster from the path. Construction began in 1938, then was halted and only completed from 1990–1993: The peaceful revolution of 1989, which began so close in Plauen, ultimately opened the border - the very important road connection between Saxony and Franconia, between Eastern and Western Europe, was finally free. For Weischlitz and the surrounding villages, the border opening and traffic artery are a blessing: despite all the losses of the familiar, new opportunities arise, new jobs are created nearby - life today is no longer that of the isolated hinterland but right in the middle of Vogtland.

Le chemin de Weischlitz vers le sud-ouest reste encore calme : avant 1989, on n’entrait dans la zone des 5 km avant le Rideau de Fer réputée qu’avec une autorisation spéciale et un laissez-passer. Le paysage est paisible : on traverse prairies et pâturages pour atteindre la Belle Vue à Geilsdorf. De temps en temps, le pont autoroutier de Pirk sur la Weiße Elster apparaît dans la perspective. La construction commence en 1938, est interrompue et seulement achevée entre 1990 et 1993 : la Révolution pacifique de 1989, qui débute tout près à Plauen, ouvre finalement la frontière – la voie routière si importante entre la Saxe et la Franconie, entre l’Europe de l’Est et de l’Ouest, est enfin libre. Pour Weischlitz et les villages alentours, l’ouverture de la frontière et cet axe de circulation sont une bénédiction : malgré toutes les pertes du connu, de nouvelles opportunités et emplois se créent à proximité – la vie aujourd’hui n’est plus celle d’un arrière-pays isolé, mais au cœur du Vogtland.
