Hier kreuzen sich viele Wanderwege und man kann links mit der blauen Punktmarkierung vorbei am Tiergehege und Mausoleum nach 5,5 km wieder Waldhaus erreichen. Folgt man aber der bekannten Markierung (Gelber Punkt), gelangt man nach Querung der Forststraße in das obere Krümmetal, wo man nach links einen schmalen Bachlauf überschreitet und nun steil bergan auf schönen Waldwegen den Mittelberg erklimmt. Oben angekommen, ist es nicht mehr weit nach Waldhaus. Hat man noch etwas Lust und Zeit, kann man vorher nach rechts noch einen kurzen Abstecher vorbei an der interessanten Kalkhütte machen.
