Der Naturpark-Weg führt als mittelschwere Tour durch ein wildromantisches Tal zum Rennsteig und nahe der ältesten deutschen Bob- und Rennschlittenbahn wieder zurück.  Schon der Start am Naturpark-Tor im Kühlen Tal lässt aufhorchen. Friedrichroda liegt begünstigt in einer von hohen Bergen und tiefen Tälern umschlossenen Talmulde. Das spezielle, kleinräumig wechselnde Klima begründete hier bereits vor 200 Jahren den ersten Kurbetrieb im Thüringer Wald, ließ die Stadt zum zweitgrößten Erholungsort der DDR avancieren und ist bis heute Garant für den Titel Heilklimatischer Kurort. Der Naturpark-Weg schlängelt sich als Naturlehrpfad Igelweg völlig naturbelassen durch den erfrischenden, schattigen Hochwald bis zum Rennsteig. Ein Waldbach und ein kleiner Wasserfall sorgen für absolute Märchenatmosphäre. Liebevoll gestaltete Tafeln geben Auskunft zu Naturschönheiten und Heimatgeschichte. Im Kühlen Tal ist es im Sommer immer ein paar Grad kühler als in den übrigen Ortsteilen. Der nächtliche Luftaustausch zwischen Berg und Tal bewirkt das Friedrichrodaer Heilklima. Auf der Passhöhe am Rennsteig bieten das Heuberghaus und das Spießberghaus Möglichkeiten zur Rast und Einkehr.

Le sentier du parc naturel est une randonnée de difficulté moyenne traversant une vallée sauvage et romantique jusqu’au Rennsteig et revenant près de la plus ancienne piste allemande de bobsleigh et de luge. Dès le départ à la porte du parc naturel dans la vallée fraîche, on est impressionné. Friedrichroda est idéalement situé dans une cuvette entourée de hautes montagnes et de vallées profondes. Le climat particulier, changeant à petite échelle, a fondé ici il y a déjà 200 ans la première station thermale de la forêt de Thuringe, a permis à la ville de devenir la deuxième plus grande station de repos de la RDA et reste jusqu’à aujourd’hui la garantie du titre de station climatique reconnue. Le sentier du parc naturel serpente en tant que sentier nature "Igelweg" complètement préservé à travers la haute forêt ombragée et rafraîchissante jusqu’au Rennsteig. Un ruisseau de forêt et une petite cascade créent une atmosphère absolument féerique. Des panneaux soigneusement conçus fournissent des informations sur les beautés naturelles et l’histoire locale. Dans la vallée fraîche, il fait toujours quelques degrés plus frais en été que dans les autres quartiers. L’échange nocturne d’air entre la montagne et la vallée crée le climat de santé de Friedrichroda. Au col du Rennsteig, la maison Heuberghaus et la maison Spießberghaus offrent des possibilités de pause et de restauration.

The nature park path is a moderate route through a wild romantic valley to the Rennsteig and back near the oldest German bobsleigh and luge track.  The start at the Nature Park Gate in the Kühles Valley already catches attention. Friedrichroda is advantageously located in a valley basin surrounded by high mountains and deep valleys. The special, small-scale changing climate established the first spa operation in the Thuringian Forest here 200 years ago, made the town the second largest resort in the GDR, and is still the guarantee for the title of climatic health resort today. The nature park path winds as the Igelweg nature trail completely naturally through the refreshing, shady high forest to the Rennsteig. A forest brook and a small waterfall create an absolute fairy-tale atmosphere. Lovingly designed panels provide information about natural beauties and local history. The Kühles Valley is always a few degrees cooler in summer than the other districts. The nocturnal air exchange between mountain and valley causes the healing climate of Friedrichroda. At the pass height on the Rennsteig, the Heuberghaus and the Spießberghaus offer opportunities for rest and refreshment.

Sind die Wände der Kurvenaufbauten auch moosbewachsen, so bieten sie doch einen imposanten Eindruck für den Betrachter.</p> <p>Nach einer letzten Rast am Waldschlösschen erreicht der Naturpark-Weg wieder seinen Ausgangspunkt nahe des Pfadfinderlagers im Kühlen Tal.</p> <p>Das Wandergebiet liegt zugleich im UNESCO Geopark Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen. Die Geo-Routen führen zu den geologischen Sehenswürdigkeiten.</p>

Entlang des Rennsteigs geht es weiter zum Spießberghaus. Einst auf 720m Höhe als herzogliches Forsthaus errichtet, ist es heute ein beliebter Berggasthof mit Hotelbetrieb. Den Namen hat es von dem spitzen Berg, auf dem es steht. Auf dem Roten Weg geht’s wieder zurück zum Ort. Im Wald sind die Relikte der einstigen Gebäude und die Fahrrinne der Bobbahn noch immer zu sehen. Sind die Wände der Kurvenaufbauten auch moosbewachsen, so bieten sie doch einen imposanten Eindruck für den Betrachter. Nach einer letzten Rast am Waldschlösschen erreicht der Naturpark-Weg wieder seinen Ausgangspunkt nahe des Pfadfinderlagers im Kühlen Tal. Das Wandergebiet liegt zugleich im UNESCO Geopark Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen. Die Geo-Routen führen zu den geologischen Sehenswürdigkeiten.

After a last rest at the Waldschlösschen, the nature park path reaches its starting point again near the scout camp in the Kühles Valley. The hiking area is also located in the UNESCO Geopark Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen. The geo-routes lead to the geological sights.
