Julius Greif prägte viele Jahr die Region. Ihm zu Ehren wurde diese Loipe benannt. Seine Arbeit im Rhönklub auch während des 2. Weltkriegs bringt bis heute zahlreiche Erlebnisse für Rhöner und Touristen gleichermaßen.
