Dieser etwa 8 Kilometer lange Weg gewährt einzigartige Einblicke in das lokale Leben und führt zu den ehemaligen Produktionsstätten unseres geliebten Gartenzwerges, wobei weitsichtige Ausblicke auf unseren charmanten Ort nicht zu kurz kommen. Der Wanderweg beginnt im Herzen des Ortes, wo historische Fachwerkhäuser und Museen eine harmonische Kulisse bilden. Die „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“ mit ihrem Gartenzwergmuseum und mit dem gemütlichen „Café Philipp“ ist eine faszinierende Attraktion, die die Geschichte und Tradition der Gartenzwerge, insbesondere in Bezug auf die lokale Produktion in Gräfenroda, lebendig werden lässt. Diese Manufaktur ist die weltweit einzige noch existierende Stätte, die Tonfiguren auf traditionelle Weise von Hand herstellt und bemalt.

Cette manufacture est le seul endroit au monde encore existant où des figurines en terre sont fabriquées et peintes à la main de manière traditionnelle.

thuecat:directions @de Von hier aus schlängelt sich der Weg entlang der Waldstraße und eröffnet den Blick auf die historischen Standorte der Tonfigurenproduktion. In der Waldstraße 1 befindet sich heute ein REWE-Markt, einst Produktionsstätte der „VEB Gräfenroda Keramik“, die Steingut-Gebrauchsartikel, Keramiken, Vasen, Schalen und Bierkrüge herstellte. Die Produktion von Gartenzwergen fand in den angegliederten Firmen „Zwergenmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“ und „Balzer und Bock“, in der Waldstraße 67, statt. Doch dazu später mehr. Weiter geht es zur ehemaligen „Eckardt & Menz – Tonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“ (ab 1920 „Fabrik feiner Tonwaren“) (2 S. 190) in der Waldstraße 12. Wo heute ein Mehrfamilienhaus steht, wurden von 1864 bis vermutlich 1945 durch die Inhaber Ernst Eckardt und Karl Gebser (ab etwa 1920) Tierfiguren, Tierköpfe, Gartenfiguren sowie Märchen- und Reklamefiguren produziert und liebevoll handbemalt. Ab dem 20. Jahrhundert wurden hier auch Gnome und Zwerge hergestellt und in alle Welt exportiert. Unser nächstes Ziel ist die ehemalige „Heissner, Aug. Friedr. Carl, Tonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“ (um 1925 „Luxustonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“, ab Ende der 1940er Jahre „Heissner-Keramik Lauterbach/Hessen“) (3 S. 210) in der Waldstraße 56. Diese wurde 1872 von August Heissner gegründet. Ab 1909 übernahmen Alexander Langenhan und Emil Balzer die Führung und von 1930 bis 1945 Willy Langenhahn zusammen mit seinem Bruder Werner. Werner fiel im Krieg, Willy wurde aufgrund seiner Verstrickung mit dem deutschen faschistischen System von den Amerikanern verhaftet und in ein Internierungslager nach Gladbeck verbracht.1947 wurde er entnazifiziert, kehrte allerdings nie wieder nach Gräfenroda zurück. Er holte die Familie nach Lauterbach (Hessen). Wolf-Dieter Langenhan übernahm von 1981 bis 1990 die Geschäftsleitung (zusammen mit Dr. Günter Denk), bevor die Manufaktur von der Familie Denk und der Gardena AG übernommen wurde. Die Produktpalette reichte von Tierfiguren über Gnome bis hin zu Reklamefiguren und Zwerge (um 1940) und wurde weltweit exportiert. Unweit von hier gelangen wir zum heutigen „Ärztehaus“ (4 eventuell S. 223) in der Waldstraße 72. Dieses imposante Gebäude war einst das Wohnhaus der Familie Langenhan, in dessen Vorgarten Zwerge für Katalogfotografien platziert wurden. Nach 1945 wurde das Wohnhaus zu einem Landambulatorium umfunktioniert. Unser nächster Halt ist die „Balzer & Bock, Terrakottawarenfabrik“ (5 S. 166), heute ein Elektro-Fachgeschäft. Die Manufaktur in der Waldstraße 67 wurde 1929 von Max Balzer, Richard Balzer und Otto Bock gegründet und produzierte eine Vielzahl von Tier-, Märchen- und Gartenfiguren, Heinzelmännchen, vor allem aber Zwerge, die weltweit exportiert wurden. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite befand sich in der Waldstraße 76 die „Schmidt, Eckardt & Nagel, Luxus-Tonwarenfabrik“ (6 S. 237), die von Carl Wilhelm August Schmidt um etwa 1890 gegründet wurde. Ab 1902 wurde sie durch Max und Richard Balzer und Otto Bock übernommen. Sie existierte bis etwa 1925. Hier wurden Gartenfiguren, Tiere, Tierköpfe, Nippes und Gnome hergestellt. Die Produkte wurden unter anderem nach Frankreich exportiert. Nach einem kleinen Spaziergang durch das „Rosental“ erreichen wir die „Bikerpension Alte Lache“, wo Sie herzlich dazu eingeladen sind einzukehren und zu übernachten (Voranmeldung empfohlen!). Der Weg setzt sich fort zum malerischen „Gondelteich“ an der „Wilden Gera“. Das sanfte Rauschen des Wassers und die erfrischende Brise bieten hier eine wohltuende Pause. Waldschenken entlang des Weges laden zu einer kleinen Rast ein, um das beruhigende Plätschern des Flusses zu genießen und den Blick über die Teichanlage schweifen zu lassen. Die Route setzt sich zur Ilmenauer Straße 38 (7 S. 228) fort. In diesem kleinen Häuschen gründeten Trangott Romeiß und Karl Nüchter etwa im Jahr 1905 die "Trangott Romeiß & Co., Kunsttonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda“. Der Betrieb war spezialisiert auf Tierfiguren, Tierköpfe, Stillleben und Gnome. Leider ist nicht bekannt, in welche Länder diese Produkte exportiert wurden. Nach Schließung der Manufaktur übernahm Philipp Griebel die Mitarbeiter und Formen - vermutlich von Carl Nüchter, der zu den herausragenden Modelleuren der Gräfenrodaer Tonfigurenbetriebe der zweiten Generation gehörte. Keine 100 Meter von hier entfernt erstreckte sich von 1901 bis 1935 die „Bernhard Strobel und Co., Tonwarenfabrik“ (ab 1927 „Strobel & Co. Terrakottafabrik“) (8 S. 241), die 1901 durch Bernhard Strobel, Heinrich Nüchter und Karl Fröhlich gegründet wurde. Hier wurden Gartenfiguren, Gnome, Rehe, Hasen, Hunde und Pilze hergestellt. Die Produkte wurden nach Amerika, Dänemark, Holland, Österreich, Schweden, in die Schweiz und in die Tschechoslowakei exportiert. Nach Schließung des Betriebes wurden die Modelle und Formen von Philipp Griebel aufgekauft. Bernhard Strobel selbst hat noch bis 1947 in der damaligen „Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“ gearbeitet. Die Entdeckertour setzt sich nun durch die Neue Straße fort, wo unser schöner „Zwergenkreisel“ bewundert werden kann. Der Weg führt weiter durch die Gartenallee in die Burgstraße II. Hier lädt die „EisManuFaktur Geratal“ zum Verweilen ein. Neben hausgemachtem, köstlichem Eis bietet sich hier die Gelegenheit, bei einer Tasse Kaffee, leckerem Kuchen und herzhaften Speisen neue Energie zu tanken. Nach dieser erfrischenden Stärkung erreichen wir an der „Vogelstange“ die Bahnhofstraße 58. Hier gründete Louis Romeiß zwischen 1885 und 1888 die „Romeiß, Louis, Thonwarenfabrik“ (9 S. 227). In diesem imposanten Fachwerkhaus produzierte er bis 1920 Gnome, Tierfiguren und Tierköpfe, die weltweit exportiert wurden. Beim genaueren Betrachten der Nebengebäude offenbart sich im Mauerwerk die eine oder andere Figurenform – damals wurde aus Materialmangel einfach alles „kreativ“ verbaut, was einem in die Finger kam. In unmittelbarer Nähe, in der Bahnhofstraße 79, erreichen wir unseren 10. Standort. Die „Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim“ (10 S. 184) wurde bereits im Jahr 1856 als Terrakottafabrik (1880 als Porzellanfabrik) gegründet. Die Inhaber Heinrich Dornheim, Günter Koch und Christian Fischer produzierten „in Thon Thiere, Thiergruppen und Thierköpfe“ sowie ab 1883 Gnome in verschiedenen Haltungen und lebensgroße, naturgetreue Figuren. Ein weiteres Spezialgebiet war die Herstellung von Porzellan, sowohl Gebrauchs- als auch Zierporzellan. Die Erzeugnisse fanden ihren Weg in alle Welt. Die Produktion wurde vermutlich in den 1930er Jahren eingestellt. Zudem sind hier das ehemalige Wohnhaus von Heinrich Dornheim, das ehemalige Brennhaus der Manufaktur und die ehemalige Porzellanfabrik (heute „Tischlerei Wolf“, vormals „Ilm-Kristall“) zu bewundern. Besonders beachtenswert ist die Rettung und Restaurierung eines autorisierten „Dornheim-Zwergs“ von 1893. Dieser imposante Zwerg, mit einer Höhe von etwa 130 cm, wurde aus dem Amtsgarten in Liebenstein gerettet und fachmännisch restauriert. Der Weg führt weiter über die „Schwarze Brücke“ in Richtung „Buche“ und leitet dann zum „Naturlehrpfad Burglehne“. Dieser sorgfältig gepflegte Pfad ist leicht zu begehen und belohnt Wandernde nach einem sanften Aufstieg mit mehreren Aussichtspunkten. Kleine Bänke laden dazu ein, beim Panoramablick über das Tal der „Wilden Gera“ und die malerische Ortschaft Gräfenroda die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Die umliegenden Berge verleihen dem Tal eine ruhige Atmosphäre. Genießen Sie die Stille der Natur, entdecken Sie seltene Orchideen oder beobachten Sie die bunte Vogelvielfalt am Himmel – ein Ort, der ein unvergessliches Erlebnis verspricht. Unterhalb des Flächennaturschutzgebiets führt uns die Tour weiter zur „Hölle“. Von hier aus biegen wir links ab und gelangen zum Wolfstal 24 (11 S. 196). Hier stehen wir an der Ursprungsstätte der heutigen „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“ (ehemals „Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“). Philipp Griebel gründete hier im Jahr 1884 die „Philipp Griebel, Thonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda“ (ab 2019 „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“). Seit 1900 befindet sich die Manufaktur an heutiger Stelle – Zum Wolfstal 1. Zur Produktpalette gehören neben handbemalten Tierköpfen und Tierfiguren auch Zwerge und Gartenfiguren, die weltweit exportiert wurden. Nur wenige Schritte entfernt – Zum Wolfstal 10 – befand sich ebenfalls eine 1856 von Heinrich Dornheim gegründete „Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim“ (12 S. 184). Unsere Entdeckertour „Auf den Spuren des Gartenzwerges“ findet ihren Abschluss schließlich am Ursprung unserer Rundwanderung, dem heutigen Standort der weltweit einzig verbliebenen traditionell produzierenden Gartenzwerg-Manufaktur (1 S. 198). „Nach der Wende“ wurde sie durch Reinhard Griebel (1990 bis 2019) geführt und nach der „VEB Keramik-Zeit“ weltweit wieder bekannt gemacht. Seit 2019 wird sie unter dem heutigen Namen „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“ durch die Inhaberin Helma Ortmann und ihr Team fortgeführt. Im „Café Philipp“ können sich Besucher bei einer herzhaften Pizza oder einem selbstgebackenen Stück Kuchen von der Rundwanderung erholen. Eine Tour durch das Museum ermöglicht es, die auf der Wanderung gesammelten Eindrücke zu vertiefen. Im „Hofladen“ können abschließend das eine oder andere Andenken an die Entdeckertour erworben werden.

This impressive building was once the home of the Langenhan family, where gnomes were placed in the front garden for catalog photos. After 1945, the residential building was converted into a local outpatient clinic. Our next stop is the "Balzer & Bock, Terracotta Goods Factory" (5 p. 166), now an electronics specialty store. The manufactory at Waldstraße 67 was founded in 1929 by Max Balzer, Richard Balzer, and Otto Bock and produced a variety of animal, fairy tale, and garden figures, little house spirits, but above all dwarfs, which were exported worldwide. The products were exported to America, Denmark, Holland, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, and Czechoslovakia. After closing the company, the models and molds were purchased by Philipp Griebel. Bernhard Strobel himself worked until 1947 in the then "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel". The discovery tour now continues through Neue Straße, where our beautiful "Gnome Roundabout" can be admired. The path leads on through Gartenallee into Burgstraße II. Here the "EisManuFaktur Geratal" invites you to linger. Besides homemade delicious ice cream, you have the opportunity here to recharge your energy with a cup of coffee, tasty cake, and savory dishes. After this refreshing boost, we reach Bahnhofstraße 58 at the "Vogelstange". Here Louis Romeiß founded between 1885 and 1888 the "Romeiß, Louis, Clay Goods Factory" (9 p. 227). In this impressive half-timbered house, he produced gnomes, animal figures, and animal heads until 1920, which were exported worldwide. Another specialty was the manufacture of porcelain, both for everyday use and decorative porcelain. The products found their way worldwide. Production was probably discontinued in the 1930s. Additionally, you can admire here the former residence of Heinrich Dornheim, the former firing house of the manufactory, and the former porcelain factory (today "Tischlerei Wolf," formerly "Ilm-Kristall"). Particularly noteworthy is the rescue and restoration of an authorized "Dornheim Gnome" from 1893. This imposing gnome, about 130 cm tall, was rescued from the Amtsgarten in Liebenstein and professionally restored. The path continues over the "Black Bridge" towards "Buche" and then leads to the "Burglehne Nature Trail." This carefully maintained trail is easy to walk and rewards hikers after a gentle ascent with several viewpoints. Below the protected landscape area, the tour continues to the "Hölle." From here, we turn left and arrive at Wolfstal 24 (11 p. 196). Here we stand at the origin site of today's "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" (formerly "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel"). Philipp Griebel founded the "Philipp Griebel, Clay Goods Factory Gräfenroda" here in 1884 (since 2019 "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda"). Since 1900, the manufactory has been at today's location - Zum Wolfstal 1. The product range includes hand-painted animal heads and animal figures, as well as dwarfs and garden figures exported worldwide. Only a few steps away - Zum Wolfstal 10 - was also the "Animal Head Factory of H. Dornheim" founded by Heinrich Dornheim in 1856 (12 p. 184). Our discovery tour "In the footsteps of the garden gnome" finally concludes at the origin of our circular walking route, the current site of the world's only remaining traditionally producing garden gnome manufactory (1 p. 198). "After the reunification" it was led by Reinhard Griebel (1990 to 2019) and made globally renowned again after the "VEB Ceramic era." Since 2019, it has been continued under the current name "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" by the owner Helma Ortmann and her team. In the "Café Philipp," visitors can relax with a hearty pizza or a homemade piece of cake after the circular hike. À partir du 20e siècle, des gnomes et nains y ont également été fabriqués et exportés dans le monde entier. Notre prochain objectif est l'ancienne "Heissner, Aug. Friedr. Carl, manufacture d'articles en terre à Gräfenroda" (vers 1925 "usine de céramiques de luxe à Gräfenroda", à la fin des années 1940 "Heissner-Keramik Lauterbach/Hessen") (3 p. 210) au Waldstraße 56. Elle a été fondée en 1872 par August Heissner. À partir de 1909, Alexander Langenhan et Emil Balzer ont pris la direction, et de 1930 à 1945 Willy Langenhahn avec son frère Werner. Werner est mort à la guerre ; Willy a été arrêté par les Américains pour son implication dans le régime fasciste allemand et interné dans un camp à Gladbeck. En 1947, il a été dénazifié, mais n'est jamais revenu à Gräfenroda. Il a ramené sa famille à Lauterbach (Hessen). Wolf-Dieter Langenhan a dirigé l'entreprise de 1981 à 1990 (avec le Dr Gunter Denk), avant que la manufacture ne soit rachetée par la famille Denk et la société Gardena AG. La gamme de produits allait des figurines d'animaux aux gnomes, en passant par les figurines publicitaires et les nains (vers 1940) et était exportée dans le monde entier. Non loin de là, nous arrivons à la maison actuelle du "Ärztehaus" (4 éventuellement p. 223) au Waldstraße 72. Ce bâtiment imposant était autrefois la maison familiale des Langenhan, dont le jardin avant accueillait des nains pour des photographies de catalogue. Après 1945, la maison a été transformée en laboratoire de campagne. Notre prochain arrêt est la "Balzer & Bock, fabrique d'articles en terre cuite" (5 p. 166), aujourd'hui un magasin d'électroménager. La manufacture au Waldstraße 67 a été fondée en 1929 par Max Balzer, Richard Balzer et Otto Bock, produisant de nombreuses figurines d'animaux, de contes, de jardin, des lutins, mais surtout des nains, exportés dans le monde entier. En face, au Waldstraße 76, se trouvait la "Schmidt, Eckardt & Nagel, fabrique d'articles de luxe en terre" (6 p. 237), fondée vers 1890 par Carl Wilhelm August Schmidt. En 1902, elle a été reprise par Max et Richard Balzer et Otto Bock. Elle a existé jusqu'à environ 1925. Des figurines de jardin, d'animaux, des têtes d'animaux, des bibelots et des gnomes y étaient fabriqués. Les produits étaient notamment exportés en France. Après une petite promenade dans le "Rosental", nous arrivons à la "Bikerpension Alte Lache", où vous êtes cordialement invités à faire une halte et à passer la nuit (réservation recommandée). Le parcours se poursuit jusqu'à l'étang pittoresque "Gondelteich" sur la "Wilde Gera". Le doux murmure de l'eau et la brise rafraîchissante offrent ici une pause agréable. Des auberges forestières le long du chemin invitent à une petite halte pour profiter du clapotis apaisant de la rivière et admirer la vue sur l'étang. Le parcours continue jusqu'à Ilmenauer Straße 38 (7 p. 228). Dans cette petite maison, Trangott Romeiß et Karl Nüchter ont fondé vers 1905 la "Trangott Romeiß & Co., manufacture d'articles artistiques en terre de Gräfenroda". L'entreprise était spécialisée dans les figurines d'animaux, têtes d'animaux, natures mortes et gnomes. Malheureusement, on ne sait pas dans quels pays ces produits ont été exportés. Après la fermeture de la manufacture, Philipp Griebel a repris les employés et les moules – probablement de Carl Nüchter, l'un des meilleurs modeleurs de la deuxième génération des fabriques de figurines en terre de Gräfenroda. À moins de 100 mètres, s'étendait de 1901 à 1935 la "Bernhard Strobel und Co., fabrique d'articles en terre" (à partir de 1927 "Strobel & Co. fabrique de terre cuite") (8 p. 241), fondée en 1901 par Bernhard Strobel, Heinrich Nüchter et Karl Fröhlich. On y fabriquait des figurines de jardin, des gnomes, des chevreuils, des lièvres, des chiens et des champignons. Les produits étaient exportés vers l'Amérique, le Danemark, la Hollande, l'Autriche, la Suède, la Suisse et la Tchécoslovaquie. Après la fermeture de l'entreprise, les modèles et moules ont été achetés par Philipp Griebel. Bernhard Strobel a lui-même travaillé jusqu'en 1947 dans l'ancienne "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel". Le parcours découverte se poursuit maintenant par la Neue Straße, où l'on peut admirer notre joli "Zwergenkreisel". Le chemin continue par la Gartenallee jusqu'à la Burgstraße II. La "EisManuFaktur Geratal" invite à une pause. En plus de la glace maison délicieuse, c'est l'occasion de reprendre des forces avec une tasse de café, un délicieux gâteau et des plats salés. Après cette pause rafraîchissante, nous arrivons à la Bahnhofstraße 58, à la "Vogelstange". C'est là que Louis Romeiß a fondé entre 1885 et 1888 la "Romeiß, Louis, fabrique d'articles en terre" (9 p. 227). Dans cette imposante maison à colombages, il a produit jusqu'en 1920 des gnomes, figurines d'animaux et têtes d'animaux, exportés dans le monde entier. En regardant de plus près les dépendances, on découvre dans les murs une ou l'autre forme de figurine – à l'époque, faute de matériel, tout ce qui pouvait être récupéré était utilisé de manière "créative". À proximité immédiate, à Bahnhofstraße 79, se trouve notre 10e site. La "Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim" (10 p. 184) a été fondée en 1856 comme fabrique de terre cuite (1880 comme manufacture de porcelaine). Les propriétaires Heinrich Dornheim, Günter Koch et Christian Fischer produisaient "des animaux, groupes d'animaux et têtes d'animaux en terre" et à partir de 1883 des gnomes dans différentes postures ainsi que des figurines grandeur nature très réalistes. Un autre domaine spécialisé était la fabrication de porcelaine d'usage et décorative. Les produits ont été exportés dans le monde entier. La production a probablement cessé dans les années 1930. On peut aussi admirer ici l'ancienne maison d'habitation d'Heinrich Dornheim, l'ancien four de la manufacture ainsi que l'ancienne manufacture de porcelaine (aujourd'hui "Tischlerei Wolf", anciennement "Ilm-Kristall"). Particulièrement remarquable est le sauvetage et la restauration d'un "Dornheim-Zwerg" autorisé de 1893. Ce nain imposant, d'environ 130 cm de hauteur, a été sauvé du jardin public de Liebenstein et restauré par des experts. Le chemin continue ensuite par le "Schwarze Brücke" en direction de la "Buche" et conduit ensuite au "Naturlehrpfad Burglehne". Ce sentier soigneusement entretenu est facile à parcourir et récompense les randonneurs après une montée douce avec plusieurs points de vue. De petits bancs invitent à se détendre en admirant le panorama sur la vallée de la "Wilden Gera" et le pittoresque village de Gräfenroda. Les montagnes environnantes confèrent à la vallée une atmosphère paisible. Profitez du silence de la nature, découvrez des orchidées rares ou observez la diversité colorée des oiseaux dans le ciel – un endroit qui promet une expérience inoubliable. Sous la réserve naturelle, la route continue vers la "Hölle". De là, nous tournons à gauche et arrivons au Wolfstal 24 (11 p. 196). Nous sommes ici à l'origine de la "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" actuelle (anciennement "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel"). Philipp Griebel y fonda en 1884 la "Philipp Griebel, Thonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda" (depuis 2019 "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda"). Depuis 1900, la manufacture est située à son emplacement actuel – Zum Wolfstal 1. La gamme de produits comprend, outre des têtes et figurines d'animaux peintes à la main, des nains et figurines de jardin, qui ont été exportés dans le monde entier. À quelques pas seulement – Zum Wolfstal 10 – se trouvait également une "Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim" fondée en 1856 par Heinrich Dornheim (12 p. 184). Notre parcours découverte "Sur les traces du nain de jardin" se termine finalement à l'origine de notre randonnée circulaire, au site de la dernière manufacture traditionnelle de nains de jardin encore en activité dans le monde (1 p. 198). Die Produktion von Gartenzwergen fand in den angegliederten Firmen „Zwergenmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“ und „Balzer und Bock“, in der Waldstraße 67, statt. Doch dazu später mehr.</p> <p>Weiter geht es zur ehemaligen „Eckardt &amp; Menz – Tonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“ (ab 1920 „Fabrik feiner Tonwaren“) (2 S. 190) in der Waldstraße 12. Wo heute ein Mehrfamilienhaus steht, wurden von 1864 bis vermutlich 1945 durch die Inhaber Ernst Eckardt und Karl Gebser (ab etwa 1920) Tierfiguren, Tierköpfe, Gartenfiguren sowie Märchen- und Reklamefiguren produziert und liebevoll handbemalt. Ab dem 20. Jahrhundert wurden hier auch Gnome und Zwerge hergestellt und in alle Welt exportiert.</p> <p>Unser nächstes Ziel ist die ehemalige „Heissner, Aug. Friedr. Carl, Tonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“ (um 1925 „Luxustonwarenfabrik in Gräfenroda“, ab Ende der 1940er Jahre „Heissner-Keramik Lauterbach/Hessen“) (3 S. 210) in der Waldstraße 56. Diese wurde 1872 von August Heissner gegründet. Ab 1909 übernahmen Alexander Langenhan und Emil Balzer die Führung und von 1930 bis 1945 Willy Langenhahn zusammen mit seinem Bruder Werner. Werner fiel im Krieg, Willy wurde aufgrund seiner Verstrickung mit dem deutschen faschistischen System von den Amerikanern verhaftet und in ein Internierungslager nach Gladbeck verbracht.1947 wurde er entnazifiziert, kehrte allerdings nie wieder nach Gräfenroda zurück. Er holte die Familie nach Lauterbach (Hessen). Wolf-Dieter Langenhan übernahm von 1981 bis 1990 die Geschäftsleitung (zusammen mit Dr. Günter Denk), bevor die Manufaktur von der Familie Denk und der Gardena AG übernommen wurde. Die Produktpalette reichte von Tierfiguren über Gnome bis hin zu Reklamefiguren und Zwerge (um 1940) und wurde weltweit exportiert.</p> <p>Unweit von hier gelangen wir zum heutigen „Ärztehaus“ (4 eventuell S. 223) in der Waldstraße 72. Dieses imposante Gebäude war einst das Wohnhaus der Familie Langenhan, in dessen Vorgarten Zwerge für Katalogfotografien platziert wurden. Nach 1945 wurde das Wohnhaus zu einem Landambulatorium umfunktioniert.</p> <p>Unser nächster Halt ist die „Balzer &amp; Bock, Terrakottawarenfabrik“ (5 S. 166), heute ein Elektro-Fachgeschäft. Die Manufaktur in der Waldstraße 67 wurde 1929 von Max Balzer, Richard Balzer und Otto Bock gegründet und produzierte eine Vielzahl von Tier-, Märchen- und Gartenfiguren, Heinzelmännchen, vor allem aber Zwerge, die weltweit exportiert wurden.</p> <p>Auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite befand sich in der Waldstraße 76 die „Schmidt, Eckardt &amp; Nagel, Luxus-Tonwarenfabrik“ (6 S. 237), die von Carl Wilhelm August Schmidt um etwa 1890 gegründet wurde. Ab 1902 wurde sie durch Max und Richard Balzer und Otto Bock übernommen. Sie existierte bis etwa 1925. Hier wurden Gartenfiguren, Tiere, Tierköpfe, Nippes und Gnome hergestellt. Die Produkte wurden unter anderem nach Frankreich exportiert.</p> <p>Nach einem kleinen Spaziergang durch das „Rosental“ erreichen wir die „Bikerpension Alte Lache“, wo Sie herzlich dazu eingeladen sind einzukehren und zu übernachten (Voranmeldung empfohlen!). Der Weg setzt sich fort zum malerischen „Gondelteich“ an der „Wilden Gera“. Das sanfte Rauschen des Wassers und die erfrischende Brise bieten hier eine wohltuende Pause. Waldschenken entlang des Weges laden zu einer kleinen Rast ein, um das beruhigende Plätschern des Flusses zu genießen und den Blick über die Teichanlage schweifen zu lassen.</p> <p>Die Route setzt sich zur Ilmenauer Straße 38 (7 S. 228) fort. In diesem kleinen Häuschen gründeten Trangott Romeiß und Karl Nüchter etwa im Jahr 1905 die "Trangott Romeiß &amp; Co., Kunsttonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda“. Der Betrieb war spezialisiert auf Tierfiguren, Tierköpfe, Stillleben und Gnome. Leider ist nicht bekannt, in welche Länder diese Produkte exportiert wurden. Nach Schließung der Manufaktur übernahm Philipp Griebel die Mitarbeiter und Formen - vermutlich von Carl Nüchter, der zu den herausragenden Modelleuren der Gräfenrodaer Tonfigurenbetriebe der zweiten Generation gehörte.</p> <p>Keine 100 Meter von hier entfernt erstreckte sich von 1901 bis 1935 die „Bernhard Strobel und Co., Tonwarenfabrik“ (ab 1927 „Strobel &amp; Co. Nach Schließung des Betriebes wurden die Modelle und Formen von Philipp Griebel aufgekauft. Bernhard Strobel selbst hat noch bis 1947 in der damaligen „Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“ gearbeitet.</p> <p>Die Entdeckertour setzt sich nun durch die Neue Straße fort, wo unser schöner „Zwergenkreisel“ bewundert werden kann. Der Weg führt weiter durch die Gartenallee in die Burgstraße II. Hier lädt die „EisManuFaktur Geratal“ zum Verweilen ein. Neben hausgemachtem, köstlichem Eis bietet sich hier die Gelegenheit, bei einer Tasse Kaffee, leckerem Kuchen und herzhaften Speisen neue Energie zu tanken.</p> <p>Nach dieser erfrischenden Stärkung erreichen wir an der „Vogelstange“ die Bahnhofstraße 58. Hier gründete Louis Romeiß zwischen 1885 und 1888 die „Romeiß, Louis, Thonwarenfabrik“ (9 S. 227). In diesem imposanten Fachwerkhaus produzierte er bis 1920 Gnome, Tierfiguren und Tierköpfe, die weltweit exportiert wurden. Beim genaueren Betrachten der Nebengebäude offenbart sich im Mauerwerk die eine oder andere Figurenform – damals wurde aus Materialmangel einfach alles „kreativ“ verbaut, was einem in die Finger kam.</p> <p>In unmittelbarer Nähe, in der Bahnhofstraße 79, erreichen wir unseren 10. Standort. Die „Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim“ (10 S. 184) wurde bereits im Jahr 1856 als Terrakottafabrik (1880 als Porzellanfabrik) gegründet. Die Inhaber Heinrich Dornheim, Günter Koch und Christian Fischer produzierten „in Thon Thiere, Thiergruppen und Thierköpfe“ sowie ab 1883 Gnome in verschiedenen Haltungen und lebensgroße, naturgetreue Figuren. Ein weiteres Spezialgebiet war die Herstellung von Porzellan, sowohl Gebrauchs- als auch Zierporzellan. Die Erzeugnisse fanden ihren Weg in alle Welt. Die Produktion wurde vermutlich in den 1930er Jahren eingestellt.</p> <p>Zudem sind hier das ehemalige Wohnhaus von Heinrich Dornheim, das ehemalige Brennhaus der Manufaktur und die ehemalige Porzellanfabrik (heute „Tischlerei Wolf“, vormals „Ilm-Kristall“) zu bewundern.</p> <p>Besonders beachtenswert ist die Rettung und Restaurierung eines autorisierten „Dornheim-Zwergs“ von 1893. Dieser imposante Zwerg, mit einer Höhe von etwa 130 cm, wurde aus dem Amtsgarten in Liebenstein gerettet und fachmännisch restauriert.</p> <p>Der Weg führt weiter über die „Schwarze Brücke“ in Richtung „Buche“ und leitet dann zum „Naturlehrpfad Burglehne“. Dieser sorgfältig gepflegte Pfad ist leicht zu begehen und belohnt Wandernde nach einem sanften Aufstieg mit mehreren Aussichtspunkten. Kleine Bänke laden dazu ein, beim Panoramablick über das Tal der „Wilden Gera“ und die malerische Ortschaft Gräfenroda die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Die umliegenden Berge verleihen dem Tal eine ruhige Atmosphäre. Genießen Sie die Stille der Natur, entdecken Sie seltene Orchideen oder beobachten Sie die bunte Vogelvielfalt am Himmel – ein Ort, der ein unvergessliches Erlebnis verspricht.</p> <p>Unterhalb des Flächennaturschutzgebiets führt uns die Tour weiter zur „Hölle“. Von hier aus biegen wir links ab und gelangen zum Wolfstal 24 (11 S. 196). Hier stehen wir an der Ursprungsstätte der heutigen „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“ (ehemals „Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel“). Philipp Griebel gründete hier im Jahr 1884 die „Philipp Griebel, Thonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda“ (ab 2019 „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“). Seit 1900 befindet sich die Manufaktur an heutiger Stelle – Zum Wolfstal 1. Seit 2019 wird sie unter dem heutigen Namen „Zwergstatt Gräfenroda“ durch die Inhaberin Helma Ortmann und ihr Team fortgeführt. Im „Café Philipp“ können sich Besucher bei einer herzhaften Pizza oder einem selbstgebackenen Stück Kuchen von der Rundwanderung erholen. Eine Tour durch das Museum ermöglicht es, die auf der Wanderung gesammelten Eindrücke zu vertiefen. Im „Hofladen“ können abschließend das eine oder andere Andenken an die Entdeckertour erworben werden.</p>

Carl, manufacture d'articles en terre à Gräfenroda" (vers 1925 "usine de céramiques de luxe à Gräfenroda", à la fin des années 1940 "Heissner-Keramik Lauterbach/Hessen") (3 p. 210) au Waldstraße 56. Elle a été fondée en 1872 par August Heissner. À partir de 1909, Alexander Langenhan et Emil Balzer ont pris la direction, et de 1930 à 1945 Willy Langenhahn avec son frère Werner. Werner est mort à la guerre ; Willy a été arrêté par les Américains pour son implication dans le régime fasciste allemand et interné dans un camp à Gladbeck. En 1947, il a été dénazifié, mais n'est jamais revenu à Gräfenroda. Il a ramené sa famille à Lauterbach (Hessen). Ce bâtiment imposant était autrefois la maison familiale des Langenhan, dont le jardin avant accueillait des nains pour des photographies de catalogue. Après 1945, la maison a été transformée en laboratoire de campagne.</p> <p>Notre prochain arrêt est la "Balzer &amp; Bock, fabrique d'articles en terre cuite" (5 p. 166), aujourd'hui un magasin d'électroménager. La manufacture au Waldstraße 67 a été fondée en 1929 par Max Balzer, Richard Balzer et Otto Bock, produisant de nombreuses figurines d'animaux, de contes, de jardin, des lutins, mais surtout des nains, exportés dans le monde entier.</p> <p>En face, au Waldstraße 76, se trouvait la "Schmidt, Eckardt &amp; Nagel, fabrique d'articles de luxe en terre" (6 p. 237), fondée vers 1890 par Carl Wilhelm August Schmidt. En 1902, elle a été reprise par Max et Richard Balzer et Otto Bock. Elle a existé jusqu'à environ 1925. Des figurines de jardin, d'animaux, des têtes d'animaux, des bibelots et des gnomes y étaient fabriqués. Les produits étaient notamment exportés en France.</p> <p>Après une petite promenade dans le "Rosental", nous arrivons à la "Bikerpension Alte Lache", où vous êtes cordialement invités à faire une halte et à passer la nuit (réservation recommandée). Le parcours se poursuit jusqu'à l'étang pittoresque "Gondelteich" sur la "Wilde Gera". Le doux murmure de l'eau et la brise rafraîchissante offrent ici une pause agréable. Des auberges forestières le long du chemin invitent à une petite halte pour profiter du clapotis apaisant de la rivière et admirer la vue sur l'étang.</p> <p>Le parcours continue jusqu'à Ilmenauer Straße 38 (7 p. 228). Dans cette petite maison, Trangott Romeiß et Karl Nüchter ont fondé vers 1905 la "Trangott Romeiß &amp; Co., manufacture d'articles artistiques en terre de Gräfenroda". L'entreprise était spécialisée dans les figurines d'animaux, têtes d'animaux, natures mortes et gnomes. Malheureusement, on ne sait pas dans quels pays ces produits ont été exportés. Après la fermeture de la manufacture, Philipp Griebel a repris les employés et les moules – probablement de Carl Nüchter, l'un des meilleurs modeleurs de la deuxième génération des fabriques de figurines en terre de Gräfenroda.</p> <p>À moins de 100 mètres, s'étendait de 1901 à 1935 la "Bernhard Strobel und Co., fabrique d'articles en terre" (à partir de 1927 "Strobel &amp; Co. fabrique de terre cuite") (8 p. 241), fondée en 1901 par Bernhard Strobel, Heinrich Nüchter et Karl Fröhlich. On y fabriquait des figurines de jardin, des gnomes, des chevreuils, des lièvres, des chiens et des champignons. Les produits étaient exportés vers l'Amérique, le Danemark, la Hollande, l'Autriche, la Suède, la Suisse et la Tchécoslovaquie. Après la fermeture de l'entreprise, les modèles et moules ont été achetés par Philipp Griebel. Bernhard Strobel a lui-même travaillé jusqu'en 1947 dans l'ancienne "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel".</p> <p>Le parcours découverte se poursuit maintenant par la Neue Straße, où l'on peut admirer notre joli "Zwergenkreisel". Le chemin continue par la Gartenallee jusqu'à la Burgstraße II. La "EisManuFaktur Geratal" invite à une pause. En plus de la glace maison délicieuse, c'est l'occasion de reprendre des forces avec une tasse de café, un délicieux gâteau et des plats salés.</p> <p>Après cette pause rafraîchissante, nous arrivons à la Bahnhofstraße 58, à la "Vogelstange". C'est là que Louis Romeiß a fondé entre 1885 et 1888 la "Romeiß, Louis, fabrique d'articles en terre" (9 p. 227). Dans cette imposante maison à colombages, il a produit jusqu'en 1920 des gnomes, figurines d'animaux et têtes d'animaux, exportés dans le monde entier. En regardant de plus près les dépendances, on découvre dans les murs une ou l'autre forme de figurine – à l'époque, faute de matériel, tout ce qui pouvait être récupéré était utilisé de manière "créative".</p> <p>À proximité immédiate, à Bahnhofstraße 79, se trouve notre 10e site. La "Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim" (10 p. 184) a été fondée en 1856 comme fabrique de terre cuite (1880 comme manufacture de porcelaine). Les propriétaires Heinrich Dornheim, Günter Koch et Christian Fischer produisaient "des animaux, groupes d'animaux et têtes d'animaux en terre" et à partir de 1883 des gnomes dans différentes postures ainsi que des figurines grandeur nature très réalistes. Un autre domaine spécialisé était la fabrication de porcelaine d'usage et décorative. Les produits ont été exportés dans le monde entier. La production a probablement cessé dans les années 1930.</p> <p>On peut aussi admirer ici l'ancienne maison d'habitation d'Heinrich Dornheim, l'ancien four de la manufacture ainsi que l'ancienne manufacture de porcelaine (aujourd'hui "Tischlerei Wolf", anciennement "Ilm-Kristall").</p> <p>Particulièrement remarquable est le sauvetage et la restauration d'un "Dornheim-Zwerg" autorisé de 1893. Ce nain imposant, d'environ 130 cm de hauteur, a été sauvé du jardin public de Liebenstein et restauré par des experts.</p> <p>Le chemin continue ensuite par le "Schwarze Brücke" en direction de la "Buche" et conduit ensuite au "Naturlehrpfad Burglehne". Ce sentier soigneusement entretenu est facile à parcourir et récompense les randonneurs après une montée douce avec plusieurs points de vue. De petits bancs invitent à se détendre en admirant le panorama sur la vallée de la "Wilden Gera" et le pittoresque village de Gräfenroda. Les montagnes environnantes confèrent à la vallée une atmosphère paisible. Profitez du silence de la nature, découvrez des orchidées rares ou observez la diversité colorée des oiseaux dans le ciel – un endroit qui promet une expérience inoubliable.</p> <p>Sous la réserve naturelle, la route continue vers la "Hölle". De là, nous tournons à gauche et arrivons au Wolfstal 24 (11 p. 196). Nous sommes ici à l'origine de la "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" actuelle (anciennement "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel"). Philipp Griebel y fonda en 1884 la "Philipp Griebel, Thonwarenfabrik Gräfenroda" (depuis 2019 "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda"). Depuis 1900, la manufacture est située à son emplacement actuel – Zum Wolfstal 1. La gamme de produits comprend, outre des têtes et figurines d'animaux peintes à la main, des nains et figurines de jardin, qui ont été exportés dans le monde entier. À quelques pas seulement – Zum Wolfstal 10 – se trouvait également une "Thierkopf-Fabrik von H. Dornheim" fondée en 1856 par Heinrich Dornheim (12 p. 184).</p> <p>Notre parcours découverte "Sur les traces du nain de jardin" se termine finalement à l'origine de notre randonnée circulaire, au site de la dernière manufacture traditionnelle de nains de jardin encore en activité dans le monde (1 p. 198). "Après la réunification", elle a été dirigée par Reinhard Griebel (de 1990 à 2019) et a retrouvé une renommée mondiale après l'époque "VEB Keramik". Depuis 2019, elle est menée sous le nom actuel "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" par la propriétaire Helma Ortmann et son équipe. Au "Café Philipp", les visiteurs peuvent se remettre de la randonnée avec une pizza copieuse ou un gâteau maison. Une visite du musée permet d'approfondir les impressions recueillies lors de la randonnée. Enfin, dans la "boutique de la ferme", on peut acheter un ou deux souvenirs de la découverte.</p>

From the 20th century, gnomes and dwarfs were also produced here and exported worldwide.</p> <p>Our next destination is the former "Heissner, Aug. Friedr. Carl, Clay Goods Factory in Gräfenroda" (around 1925 "Luxury Clay Goods Factory in Gräfenroda", from the late 1940s "Heissner Ceramic Lauterbach/Hesse") (3 p. 210) at Waldstraße 56. This was founded in 1872 by August Heissner. From 1909, Alexander Langenhan and Emil Balzer took over management, and from 1930 to 1945 Willy Langenhahn together with his brother Werner. Werner died in the war, Willy was arrested by the Americans due to his involvement with the German fascist system and taken to an internment camp in Gladbeck. The product range included animal figures, gnomes, advertising figures, and dwarfs (around 1940) and was exported worldwide.</p> <p>Not far from here is today's "Doctors’ House" (4 possibly p. 223) at Waldstraße 72. This impressive building was once the home of the Langenhan family, where gnomes were placed in the front garden for catalog photos. After 1945, the residential building was converted into a local outpatient clinic.</p> <p>Our next stop is the "Balzer &amp; Bock, Terracotta Goods Factory" (5 p. 166), now an electronics specialty store. The manufactory at Waldstraße 67 was founded in 1929 by Max Balzer, Richard Balzer, and Otto Bock and produced a variety of animal, fairy tale, and garden figures, little house spirits, but above all dwarfs, which were exported worldwide.</p> <p>On the opposite side of the street, at Waldstraße 76, was the "Schmidt, Eckardt &amp; Nagel, Luxury Clay Goods Factory" (6 p. 237), founded by Carl Wilhelm August Schmidt around 1890. In 1902 it was taken over by Max and Richard Balzer and Otto Bock. It existed until about 1925. Garden figures, animals, animal heads, knick-knacks, and gnomes were produced there. The products were among other things exported to France.</p> <p>After a short walk through "Rosental" we reach the "Bikerpension Alte Lache", where you are warmly invited to stop and stay overnight (advance booking recommended!). The path continues to the picturesque "Gondelteich" at the "Wild Gera". The gentle rushing of the water and the refreshing breeze offer a soothing break here. Forest taverns along the way invite you to take a short rest to enjoy the calming splashing of the river and let your gaze wander over the pond area.</p> <p>The route continues to Ilmenauer Straße 38 (7 p. 228). In this small house, Trangott Romeiß and Karl Nüchter founded around 1905 the "Trangott Romeiß &amp; Co., Artistic Clay Goods Factory Gräfenroda". The company specialized in animal figures, animal heads, still lifes, and gnomes. Unfortunately, it is not known to which countries these products were exported. After closing the manufactory, Philipp Griebel took over the staff and molds - presumably from Carl Nüchter, who belonged to the outstanding modelers of the second generation of Gräfenroda clay figure companies.</p> <p>Less than 100 meters from here was the "Bernhard Strobel and Co., Clay Goods Factory" (from 1927 "Strobel &amp; Co. Terracotta Factory") (8 p. 241), founded in 1901 by Bernhard Strobel, Heinrich Nüchter, and Karl Fröhlich. Here garden figures, gnomes, deer, rabbits, dogs, and mushrooms were produced. The products were exported to America, Denmark, Holland, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, and Czechoslovakia. After closing the company, the models and molds were purchased by Philipp Griebel. Bernhard Strobel himself worked until 1947 in the then "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel".</p> <p>The discovery tour now continues through Neue Straße, where our beautiful "Gnome Roundabout" can be admired. The path leads on through Gartenallee into Burgstraße II. Here the "EisManuFaktur Geratal" invites you to linger. Besides homemade delicious ice cream, you have the opportunity here to recharge your energy with a cup of coffee, tasty cake, and savory dishes.</p> <p>After this refreshing boost, we reach Bahnhofstraße 58 at the "Vogelstange". Here Louis Romeiß founded between 1885 and 1888 the "Romeiß, Louis, Clay Goods Factory" (9 p. 227). In this impressive half-timbered house, he produced gnomes, animal figures, and animal heads until 1920, which were exported worldwide. Upon closer inspection of the outbuildings, one or another figure form reveals itself in the masonry - back then, due to material shortage, everything "creative" was built in that could be found.</p> <p>In the immediate vicinity, at Bahnhofstraße 79, we reach our 10th location. The "Animal Head Factory of H. Dornheim" (10 p. 184) was founded in 1856 as a terracotta factory (in 1880 as a porcelain factory). The owners Heinrich Dornheim, Günter Koch, and Christian Fischer produced "animal groups and animal heads in clay" as well as gnomes in various poses from 1883 and life-size, natural figures. Another specialty was the manufacture of porcelain, both for everyday use and decorative porcelain. The products found their way worldwide. Production was probably discontinued in the 1930s.</p> <p>Additionally, you can admire here the former residence of Heinrich Dornheim, the former firing house of the manufactory, and the former porcelain factory (today "Tischlerei Wolf," formerly "Ilm-Kristall").</p> <p>Particularly noteworthy is the rescue and restoration of an authorized "Dornheim Gnome" from 1893. This imposing gnome, about 130 cm tall, was rescued from the Amtsgarten in Liebenstein and professionally restored.</p> <p>The path continues over the "Black Bridge" towards "Buche" and then leads to the "Burglehne Nature Trail." This carefully maintained trail is easy to walk and rewards hikers after a gentle ascent with several viewpoints. Small benches invite you to let your soul dangle while enjoying the panoramic view over the valley of the "Wild Gera" and the picturesque village of Gräfenroda. The surrounding mountains give the valley a peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy the silence of nature, discover rare orchids, or observe the colorful variety of birds in the sky - a place that promises an unforgettable experience.</p> <p>Below the protected landscape area, the tour continues to the "Hölle." From here, we turn left and arrive at Wolfstal 24 (11 p. 196). Here we stand at the origin site of today's "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda" (formerly "Gartenzwergmanufaktur Philipp Griebel"). Philipp Griebel founded the "Philipp Griebel, Clay Goods Factory Gräfenroda" here in 1884 (since 2019 "Zwergstatt Gräfenroda"). Since 1900, the manufactory has been at today's location - Zum Wolfstal 1. The product range includes hand-painted animal heads and animal figures, as well as dwarfs and garden figures exported worldwide. Only a few steps away - Zum Wolfstal 10 - was also the "Animal Head Factory of H. Dornheim" founded by Heinrich Dornheim in 1856 (12 p. 184).</p> <p>Our discovery tour "In the footsteps of the garden gnome" finally concludes at the origin of our circular walking route, the current site of the world's only remaining traditionally producing garden gnome manufactory (1 p. 198).
