Los geht diese mittelschwere, rund 6 Kilometer langer Entdecker- und Familientour am Dermbacher Schloss. Zunächst geht es hinauf zum Kastanienwäldchen und weiter über die Steintreppen und durch die Steingärten bis zum „Kapellchen“ – einem architektonischen Schmuckstück aus dem Jahr 1953, das der Mutter Gottes von Fatima in Portugal geweiht ist. Nächste Station sind eindrucksvolle Muschelkalkformationen inmitten eines Buchenwaldes, entstanden vor mehr als 200 Millionen Jahren. Achtung: Für diesen Teil des Weges sind Schwindelfreiheit und Trittfestigkeit erforderlich! Der Weg ist unbefestigt und zum Teil sehr uneben, manche Stellen sind schmal und zu einer Seite steil abfallend, ohne eine Möglichkeit sich festzuhalten. Am Ende des Weges tritt man aus dem Wald auf eine Hutweide mit Blick auf den Hausberg Gläser. Über große Weidewiesen erreichen wir die ehemalige Hundesportanlage mit Rastplatz, ideal für eine Pause. Von hier aus treten wir den Rückweg an, der uns zunächst bis zum Staudtblick führt. Benannt nach dem Oberförster Staudt, lädt hier ein runder Holzpavillon zum Rasten und Staunen ein. Von hier hat man einen Fernblick in die Vorderrhön und den dahinterliegenden Thüringer Wald. Über die Fatima-Kapelle und die Steingärten geht es zurück zum Ausgangspunkt am Dermbacher Schloss.

Le parcours découverte et familial de difficulté moyenne, d'environ 6 kilomètres, commence au château de Dermbach. Vous montez d'abord vers la petite forêt de châtaigniers, puis continuez par les escaliers en pierre et à travers les jardins de pierre jusqu’au petit oratoire – une pièce architecturale datant de 1953, dédiée à Notre-Dame de Fatima au Portugal. La prochaine étape vous mène aux formations impressionnantes de calcaire coquillier au cœur d’une forêt de hêtres, formées il y a plus de 200 millions d’années. Attention : Pour cette partie du chemin, il est nécessaire d’être exempt de vertige et sûr de ses pas ! Le sentier n’est pas aménagé et est parfois très irrégulier, certains passages sont étroits et en pente raide d’un côté, sans possibilité de s’y agripper. En fin de chemin, vous sortez de la forêt sur une prairie d’estive avec vue sur la montagne locale Gläser. À travers de grandes prairies, vous atteignez l’ancienne installation sportive pour chiens avec une aire de repos, idéale pour une pause. De là, vous empruntez le chemin du retour qui vous mène d’abord au point de vue Staudtblick. Nommé d’après le garde forestier Staudt, un pavillon en bois circulaire invite à se reposer et s’émerveiller. De cet endroit, vous avez une vue dégagée vers la Rhön avant et la forêt de Thuringe derrière. Via la chapelle Fatima et les jardins de pierre, le chemin revient au point de départ au château de Dermbach.

This moderate, approximately 6-kilometer-long explorer and family route starts at Dermbach Castle. First, it goes up to the little chestnut forest and further over stone steps and through stone gardens to the “Kapellchen” – an architectural gem from 1953 dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal. The next stop is impressive Muschelkalk (muschelkalk is a type of shell limestone) formations amid a beech forest, formed over 200 million years ago. Caution: For this part of the route, a head for heights and sure-footedness is required! The path is unpaved and partly very uneven; some sections are narrow and steeply falling to one side without any possibility to hold on. At the end of the path, you exit the forest onto a pasture with a view of the local mountain Gläser. Across large meadows, we reach the former dog sports facility with a rest area, ideal for a break. From here we start the return route, which initially leads us to the Staudtblick viewpoint. Named after the head forester Staudt, a round wooden pavilion invites you to rest and marvel. From here you have a distant view into the Vorder Rhön and the Thuringian Forest behind it. Via the Fatima Chapel and the stone gardens, it goes back to the starting point at Dermbach Castle.
