Die größten und bekanntesten Moore der Rhön sind das Schwarze (60 ha) und das Rote (30 ha) Moor. Beide haben sie eine ähnliche Entstehungsgeschich-te, die etwa vor ca. 13.000 Jahre nach der letzten Eiszeit begann, als sich bei feuchtkaltem Klima eine niedere Tundrenvegetation ausbreitete. Beide sind sogenannte "Hochmoore".Die Tour führt zunächst entlang der Els bis hinauf zu ihren Quellen. Danach geht es über die Höhen des Naturschutzgebietes Lange Rhön zum Schwarzen Moor. Die Bikes kann man dort beruhigt in den abschließbaren Boxen beim Kiosk abstellen und sich auf die gut einstündige Tour zu Fuß auf dem Bohlensteg durch das Moor begeben.Die Rückfahrt führt mit einigen rasanten Abfahrten durch den Eisgraben, vorbei an den Resten der Hildenburg, der ältesten Rhönburg, vorbei am Aussichts“küppel“ Rother Kuppe nach Oberelsbach.

Ce sont tous deux des « tourbières hautes ». La balade conduit d'abord le long de l'Els jusqu'à ses sources. Ensuite, elle passe sur les hauteurs de la réserve naturelle Lange Rhön jusqu'au marais Noir. On peut y laisser les vélos en toute sécurité dans des caisses verrouillables près du kiosque et poursuivre à pied sur la passerelle en planches pour une bonne excursion d'environ une heure à travers le marais. Le retour suit quelques descentes rapides dans l'Eisgraben, passant près des ruines de la Hildenburg, le plus vieux château de la Rhön, puis près du « sommet » panoramique Rother Kuppe jusqu'à Oberelsbach.

The largest and best-known moors of the Rhön are the Black Moor (60 ha) and the Red Moor (30 ha). Both have a similar history of formation, which began about 13,000 years ago after the last Ice Age when a low tundra vegetation spread in a damp and cold climate. Both are so-called "raised bogs." The route initially follows the Els river up to its sources. Then it goes over the heights of the Lange Rhön nature reserve to the Black Moor. You can safely leave your bikes in the lockable boxes at the kiosk and take the well-marked approximately one-hour foot tour on the boardwalk through the moor. The return journey includes some fast descents through the Eisgraben, past the remains of the Hildenburg, the oldest castle in the Rhön, past the viewpoint "Rother Kuppe" to Oberelsbach.

Bei gegenseitiger Rücksichtnahme muss sich niemand ärgern. * Auf Trails und Wegen fährt es sich am Besten. Quer durch die Wiese - macht man nicht! * Nimm die Erinnerung mit und deinen Müll! * Fahre nie schneller, als du anhalten kannst. * Nachts (und im Winter) gehört der Wald den Tieren. Wir empfehlen euch die Mountainbike Rundwege nur in der Sommersaison zu befahren (Mai-Oktober).
