Vom Lauschaer Hüttenplatz führt der historische Weg, über steile Pfade, ins Bergdorf Steinheid. Lange Zeit mussten die Lauschaer über die höchsten Schiefergebirgsgipfel zu ihrer Kirche laufen. Egal ob sie heiraten wollten, getauft wurden oder gestorben sind – an Steinheid führte bis zur Errichtung einer Filialkirche in ihrem Ort, 1730-32, kein Weg vorbei. Wobei man nicht zur erst 1789/1835 erbauten Liebfrauenkirche, sondern zur alten Kirche am Marktplatz ging. Dort befand sich damals auch der Friedhof. In Steinheid richtete man bereits 1528 eine Pfarrei ein. 1530 spricht man von der Freien Bergstadt Steinheid, nachdem schon 1362 der Wettiner Markgraf Friedrich der Strenge die Bergwerksfreiheit für das „Goldbergwerk an der steinernen Heide“ beurkundete. Wer auf diesem schmalen Pfad durchs Gebirge gewandert ist, kann sich gut vorstellen, dass so mancher Sarg lange in Lauscha zwischengelagert wurde, ehe günstige Witterung einen Transport und die Beisetzung in geweihter Erde ermöglichte.

From the Lauscha Huttenplatz, the historic path leads over steep trails to the mountain village Steinheid. For a long time, the Lauscha residents had to walk over the highest slate mountain peaks to their church. Whether they wanted to marry, were baptized, or died – no path led past Steinheid until a branch church was built in their village between 1730-32. However, people did not go to the Liebfrauenkirche built first in 1789/1835 but to the old church at the marketplace. The cemetery was also located there at that time. A parish was already established in Steinheid in 1528. In 1530, it was referred to as the Free Mining Town of Steinheid after the Wettin margrave Friedrich the Severe had already certified mining freedom for the "Goldbergwerk an der steinernen Heide" in 1362. Those who walked this narrow path through the mountains can well imagine that many coffins were temporarily stored in Lauscha before favorable weather allowed transport and burial in consecrated ground.

Depuis le Hüttenplatz de Lauscha, le chemin historique mène, par des sentiers escarpés, au village montagnard de Steinheid. Pendant longtemps, les habitants de Lauscha devaient traverser les plus hauts sommets du massif de Schiefergebirge pour se rendre à leur église. Qu'ils veuillent se marier, être baptisés ou enterrés – jusqu'à la construction d'une église filiale dans leur localité entre 1730 et 1732, aucun chemin ne menait à Steinheid. On ne se rendait pas à la Liebfrauenkirche construite en 1789/1835, mais à l'ancienne église sur la place du marché, où se trouvait également le cimetière. Une paroisse fut établie à Steinheid dès 1528. En 1530, on parle de la ville libre de montagne Steinheid, après que le margrave Wettiner Friedrich le Strict ait déjà certifié en 1362 la liberté minière pour la « mine d'or sur la lande de pierre ». Ceux qui ont parcouru ce sentier étroit à travers la montagne peuvent aisément imaginer que certains cercueils furent entreposés longtemps à Lauscha avant que les conditions météorologiques favorables permettent le transport et l’inhumation en terre consacrée.

Der Totenweg führt dabei vom Hüttenplatz in Lauscha hinauf auf die Eller und wieder hinab in das Steinachtal, vorbei am Schwimmbad. Hinter der Steinachbrücke geht es dem Wässrigen Weg hinauf und wieder hinunter ins Göritztal und über den Stirndamm des 3. Flößteiches an der Göritz. Vor seinem Defekt war der Flößteich am Totenweg mit 20000 m³ einer der größten im Einzugsgebiet der Steinach. Nach der Anlegung der 4 km Flößgraben (1579) zur Röden, wurde das Steinheider Holz bis nach Coburg zum Floßanger geflößt. Ihren Namen gaben der Göritz die Slawen (Gorica = Bach am kleinen Berg). Jetzt geht es steil hinauf zum Kieferle, dem höchsten Berg im Thüringer Schiefergebirge. Jetzt sind es nur noch wenige hundert Meter bis zur Kirche und zum Markplatz in Steinheid.</p>

The Totenweg leads from the Huttenplatz in Lauscha up to the Eller and back down into the Steinach valley, past the swimming pool. Behind the Steinach bridge, it goes up the Wässrige Weg and back down into the Göritz valley and over the forehead dam of the 3rd raft pond at the Göritz. Before its defect, the raft pond on the Totenweg was one of the largest in the Steinach catchment area with 20,000 m³. After the construction of the 4 km raft ditch (1579) to the Röden, the Steinheid wood was floated to Coburg to the raft landing. The Slavs gave the Göritz its name (Gorica = stream at the small mountain). Now it goes steeply up to the Kieferle, the highest mountain in the Thuringian Slate Mountains. Now there are only a few hundred meters left to the church and the market square in Steinheid.</p>

Le nom Göritz vient des Slaves (Gorica = ruisseau au petit mont). Maintenant, ça monte raide vers le Kieferle, la plus haute montagne du massif de Schiefergebirge en Thuringe. Il ne reste plus que quelques centaines de mètres jusqu'à l'église et la place du marché à Steinheid.</p>

Hinter der Steinachbrücke geht es dem Wässrigen Weg hinauf und wieder hinunter ins Göritztal und über den Stirndamm des 3. Flößteiches an der Göritz. Vor seinem Defekt war der Flößteich am Totenweg mit 20000 m³ einer der größten im Einzugsgebiet der Steinach. Nach der Anlegung der 4 km Flößgraben (1579) zur Röden, wurde das Steinheider Holz bis nach Coburg zum Floßanger geflößt. Ihren Namen gaben der Göritz die Slawen (Gorica = Bach am kleinen Berg). Jetzt geht es steil hinauf zum Kieferle, dem höchsten Berg im Thüringer Schiefergebirge. Jetzt sind es nur noch wenige hundert Meter bis zur Kirche und zum Markplatz in Steinheid.
