Der rund 11 Kilometer lange Rundweg verbindet die nördlich von Heilbad Heiligenstadt gelegenen Ortsteile Siemerode, Bischhagen, Streitholz und Mengelrode. Geprägt von Ruhe und traditioneller Fachwerkarchitektur laden die Dörfer zum Verweilen ein. Die abwechslungsreiche Wanderung führt rund um das „Hohe Kreuz“ bei Bischhagen durch die typisch hügelige Kulturlandschaft des Eichsfelds und eröffnet dabei immer wieder reizvolle Ausblicke.
