The tour starts at the Nature Park Gate Hörschel at the large hiking parking lot Rennsteig beginning. The local Nature Park information point provides all necessary details for your circular hike. Initially, the route climbs uphill over the Kupferberg via the Rennsteig. Around the Rennsteig, copper shale mining was carried out more or less successfully over several centuries. On the way down from the Rennsteig to Stedtfeld, various geological and local history stations provide information about the historical, medieval copper mining. Visitors can admire adits, shafts, and a modeled sluice. Shelters with seating invite you to linger. Many wonderful views over the Thuringian Forest up to the Wartburg make the tour varied and invite you to rest.

La randonnée commence à la porte du parc naturel Hörschel, sur le grand parking de départ de la Rennsteig. Le point d'information du parc naturel sur place vous fournit toutes les informations nécessaires pour votre randonnée circulaire. Au début, vous montez la Rennsteig par-dessus le Kupferberg. Autour de la Rennsteig, l'exploitation minière du schiste cuprifère a été pratiquée pendant plusieurs siècles, plus ou moins avec succès. Die Tour startet am Naturpark-Tor Hörschel auf dem großen Wanderparkplatz Rennsteigbeginn. Der dortige Naturpark-Informationspunkt hält alle nötigen Hinweise für deine Rundwanderweg bereit. Anfangs geht es auf dem Rennsteig bergauf über den Kupferberg. Rund um den Rennsteig wurde mehr oder weniger erfolgreich über mehrere Jahrhunderte hinweg Bergbau auf Kupferschiefer betrieben. Vom Rennsteig hinab nach Stedtfeld geben verschiedenen geologische und heimatgeschichtliche Stationen Informationen zum  historischen, mittelalterlichen Kupferbergbau. Stollen, Schächte sowie ein angedeutetes Gerinne können bestaunt werden. Schutzhütten mit Sitzgelegenheiten laden zum Verweilen. Viele herrliche Aussichten über den Thüringer Wald bis hin zur Wartburg machen die Tour abwechslungsreich und laden zur Rast ein.

Ein weiterer Einstieg in den Natuerpark-Weg ist gut in Stedtfeld möglich, am Rast- und Infopunkt Kupferhütte. <p>Der Rundwanderweg führt den Rennsteig und den Stadtfelder Bergbaulehrpfad zusammen. Folgt einfach der Markierung "Hammer und Schlägel" und unserer Wegweisung: von Hörschel geht es über den Rennsteig hinauf zum Heimtblick und zur Schutzhütte auf dem Großen Eichelberg. Von dort hat man eine sehr gute Aussicht ins Werratal. Der Rennsteig verläuft anschließend durch einen lockeren Laubwald auf einem bequemen Wanderweg. Einen Kilometer nach der Schutzhütte "Flüchtiger Hirsch" trennt sich der Naturpark-Weg vom Rennsteig und biegt nach Norden ab, zum Wartburgblick und folgt dann dem Rangenbach ins Tal der Hörsel Richtung Stedtfeld. Unterwegs laden Sitzgruppen zum Rasten ein, inbesondere am alten Pochteich.</p> <p>An der Kupferhütte nahe Stedtfeld biegt unser Wanderweg nach Westen ab und folgt dem Radweg nach Hörschel entlang der Hörsel.</p>
