About: Stausee Birkungen

Die rund 35 Hektar große Talsperre Birkungen wurde einst als Brauchwasserspeicher für das Zementwerk Deuna gebaut und 1987 in Betrieb genommen. Heute ist der Stausee, der von der Ohne gespeist wird, als Puffer für den Hochwasserschutz und den Naturschutz von Bedeutung. Ein Rundweg direkt um den See lädt zum Wandern ein. Die Stadt Leinefelde‐Worbis will das Gewässer in den nächsten Jahren touristisch erschließen. Am Nordufer soll ein Campingpark mit Gastronomie und Badestrand entstehen. Künftig soll der See von Leinefelde aus über einen neuen Rad‐ und Fußweg direkt erreichbar sein.

The approximately 35‐hectare Birkungen reservoir was once built as a service water storage tank for the Deuna cement works and commissioned in 1987. Today the reservoir, which is fed by the river “Ohne”, is important as a buffer for flood protection and nature conservation. A circular path right around the lake is ideal for hiking. The city of Leinefelde‐Worbis wants to develop the lake for tourism in the next few years. A camping park with restaurants and a outdoor pool on the beach is to be built on the north bank. In the future, the lake should be directly accessible from Leinefelde via a new bike and footpath.

Le barrage de Birkungen, d'une superficie d'environ 35 hectares, a été construit autrefois comme réservoir d'eau industrielle pour la cimenterie de Deuna et mis en service en 1987. Aujourd'hui, le lac de retenue, alimenté par l'Ohne, joue un rôle tampon important pour la protection contre les inondations et la protection de la nature. Un circuit directement autour du lac invite à la randonnée. La ville de Leinefelde-Worbis souhaite développer le tourisme sur ce plan d'eau dans les années à venir. Sur la rive nord, un parc de camping avec restauration et plage de baignade doit être créé. À l'avenir, le lac sera directement accessible depuis Leinefelde par une nouvelle piste cyclable et un chemin piétonnier.
