The Stahlquelle is one of Bad Berka’s most significant historic healing springs. Gently flowing water and the striking pavilion continue to define this special place of peace and relaxation in the spa park. The spring was discovered in 1807 by Ludwig Geist. After the spa opened in 1813 and the sulfur spring dried up, the iron-rich healing water became increasingly important for the town’s spa operations. A deep borehole drilled in 1877 permanently altered the composition of the spring water—since then, it has contained calcium sulfate and is still used today for drinking cures. A pavilion, erected over the spring in 1909, gives the site its characteristic appearance. Since 1949, the fountain figure by sculptor Bruno Eyermann has also stood guard over the healing water. Alongside the pavilion, the Goethe Fountain, featuring a bust of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, commemorates his significant contribution to the development of Bad Berka as a spa town. The bust was created by Adolf Brütt, an honorary citizen of the town.
Źródło Stahlquelle zalicza się do najważniejszych historycznych źródeł leczniczych w Bad Berka. Łagodnie płynąca woda i charakterystyczny pawilon do dziś nadają charakter temu wyjątkowemu miejscu spokoju i odpoczynku w parku uzdrowiskowym.
