Der Brunnen mit einem kreisrunden Brunnenbecken mit ein- und ausgeschwungener Wandung wurde 1847 von dem Berkaer Steinmetzen Carl Dornberger hergestellt und von der Großherzogin Maria Pawlowna gestiftet. Die auf der Brunnensäule befindliche Figur des trinkenden Mädchens ist eine spätere Zutat, die laut Hans-Joachim Leithner erst 1928 dokumentiert wurde und möglicherweise dem Weimarer Bildhauer Arno Zauche zugerechnet werden kann. Der Delphin ist Gestaltungsmotiv weiterer Brunnen im Park Belvedere und im Wielandgut Oßmannstedt.
La fontaine, dont le bassin circulaire est doté d'un mur incurvé, a été réalisée en 1847 par le tailleur de pierre Carl Dornberger de Berka et offerte par la grande-duchesse Maria Pavlovna. La figure de la buveuse sur la colonne de la fontaine est un ajout ultérieur qui, selon Hans-Joachim Leithner, n'a été documenté qu'en 1928 et peut être attribué au sculpteur de Weimar Arno Zauche. Le dauphin est le motif de conception d'autres fontaines dans le parc du Belvédère et dans le domaine Wieland d'Oßmannstedt.
The fountain with a circular fountain basin with a curved wall was made in 1847 by the Berka stonemason Carl Dornberger and donated by the Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna. The figure of the drinking girl on the fountain column is a later addition which, according to Hans-Joachim Leithner, was not documented until 1928 and can possibly be attributed to the Weimar sculptor Arno Zauche. The dolphin is the design motif of other fountains in the Belvedere Park and in the Wieland Estate Oßmannstedt.
