Tautenburg est une commune située au nord du district de Saale-Holzland en Thuringe et membre de la communauté administrative de Dornburg-Camburg. La ville est idéalement située près d'Iéna, de Dornburg et de Camburg. Géographiquement, Tautenburg est situé à l'est des basses terres de la Saale, au milieu de la forêt de Tautenburg, dans une vallée latérale entourant la colline du château en forme de fer à cheval, à environ 250 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer. La forêt se trouve à environ 100 mètres au-dessus de l'altitude moyenne du village. Le château de Tautenburg est mentionné pour la première fois dans un document en 1223. Pendant longtemps, elle a été le centre d'une grande zone économique et administrative. En 1780, le château a été démoli. Seul le donjon est resté et constitue encore aujourd'hui le point de repère de Tautenburg, visible de loin. Ce lieu pittoresque et idyllique était déjà une station estivale populaire au XIXe siècle. Des personnalités célèbres telles que le philosophe Friedrich Nietzsche, l'acteur Conrad Veidt, l'écrivain Joachim Ringelnatz et l'auteur, poète et philosophe Richarda Huch ont passé leur temps dans le calme agréable et la nature boisée. Une intéressante ruine de château, la "Gasthaus zur Tautenburg", un enclos de daims, l'observatoire national de Thuringe "Karl Schwarzschild", des sentiers de randonnée, comme le chemin planétaire de Tautenburg, achevé en 2020, sous des arbres centenaires et bien d'autres choses encore méritent une visite.

Tautenburg is a municipality in the north of the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia and a member of the administrative community of Dornburg-Camburg. The town is conveniently located near Jena, Dornburg and Camburg. Geographically, Tautenburg is located east of the Saale lowlands in the middle of the Tautenburg Forest in a side valley surrounding the castle hill in a horseshoe shape at about 250 meters above sea level. The forest is about 100 metres above the average altitude of the village. Tautenburg Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1223. For a long time it was the centre of a large economic and administrative area. In 1780 the castle was demolished. Only the keep remained and is still today the landmark of Tautenburg, visible from afar. The picturesquely situated, idyllic place was already a popular summer resort in the 19th century. Famous personalities such as the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, the actor Conrad Veidt, the writer Joachim Ringelnatz and the author, poet and philosopher Richarda Huch spent their time in the pleasant peace and wooded nature. An interesting castle ruin, the "Gasthaus zur Tautenburg", a fallow deer enclosure, the nationally known Thuringian State Observatory "Karl Schwarzschild", hiking trails, such as the Tautenburg Planetary Path, completed in 2020, under centuries-old trees and much more are worth a visit.

Tautenburg ist eine Gemeinde im Norden des Saale-Holzland-Kreises in Thüringen und ein Mitglied der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Dornburg-Camburg. Die Stadt liegt verkehrsgünstig in der Nähe von Jena, Dornburg und Camburg. Geographisch liegt Tautenburg östlich der Saale-Niederung inmitten des Tautenburger Waldes in einem den Burgberg hufeisenförmig umgebenden Seitental auf ca. 250 Meter über NN. Der Wald liegt etwa 100 Meter über der mittleren Höhe des Ortes. Die Tautenburg wurde 1223 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Lange Zeit war sie Mittelpunkt eines großen Wirtschafts- und Verwaltungsgebietes. Im Jahre 1780 wurde die Burg abgetragen. Nur der Bergfried blieb erhalten und ist noch heute das weithin sichtbare Wahrzeichen Tautenburgs. Der malerisch gelegene, idyllische Ort war bereits im 19. Jahrhundert eine beliebte Sommerfrische. Berühmte Persönlichkeiten wie der Philosoph Friedrich Nietzsche, der Schauspieler Conrad Veidt, der Schriftsteller Joachim Ringelnatz und die Autorin, Dichterin und Philosophin Ricarda Huch verbrachten ihre Zeit in der angenehmen Ruhe und waldreichen Natur. Eine interessante Burgruine, das "Gasthaus zur Tautenburg", ein Damwildgehege, die überregional bekannte Thüringer Landessternwarte "Karl Schwarzschild", Wanderwege, wie der 2020 fertiggestellte Planetenpfad Tautenburg, unter jahrhundertealten Bäumen und vieles mehr sind einen Besuch wert.
