Wünschendorf is the cradle of the Vogtland, which extended over a terrain between the rivers Saale, Elster and Mulde all the way to the Egerland. The interesting and eventful history of over 1000 years, which Wünschendorf can look back on, began around 974. Buildings from this time, such as the church of St. Vitus or the Mildenfurth monastery, bear witness to the long tradition of the village and are attractions for visitors to Wünschendorf today. The community of Wünschendorf lies idyllically embedded in the valley of the White Elster and a total of 10 districts belong to the community. These are Cronschwitz, Meilitz, Mildenfurth, Untitz, Veitsberg, Pösneck, Zossen, Mosen, Zschorta and the centre of Wünschendorf.
