Der Edelhof war einst ein bedeutender Rückzugsort in den waldreichen Landschaften rund um Bad Berka. Die Wälder galten als grüne Oase vor den Toren Weimars und zogen die Jagdgäste der Weimarer Herzöge an, die hier Erholung für Körper, Geist und Seele suchten. Das im Jahr 1786 im Barockstil errichtete Gebäude blickt auf eine noch ältere Geschichte zurück: An diesem Ort soll einst die alte Wasserburg gestanden haben, der erste Sitz der Berkaer Grafen. Auch bei Kurgästen war der Edelhof äußerst beliebt – so verbrachten Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und seine Frau Christiane von Goethe im Jahr 1814 einen sechswöchigen Kuraufenthalt auf dem Anwesen. Seit 1861 ist der Edelhof eng mit dem Forstwesen verbunden und beherbergt heute das Forstamt Bad Berka.
Edelhof był niegdyś ważnym miejscem wypoczynku wśród zalesionych krajobrazów wokół Bad Berki. Lasy te uchodziły za zieloną oazę u progu Weimaru i przyciągały miłośników polowań z kręgów książąt weimarskich, którzy szukali tu odpoczynku dla ciała, umysłu i duszy. Budynek wzniesiony w 1786 roku w stylu barokowym ma jednak jeszcze dłuższą historię: podobno w tym miejscu niegdyś stał stary zamek wodny, pierwsza siedziba hrabiów z Berki. Edelhof cieszył się również ogromną popularnością wśród kuracjuszy – na przykład Johann Wolfgang von Goethe i jego żona Christiane von Goethe spędzili w 1814 roku sześciotygodniowy pobyt kuracyjny na tej posiadłości. Od 1861 roku posiadłość Edelhof jest ściśle związana z leśnictwem i obecnie mieści się w niej nadleśnictwo Bad Berka.
L’Edelhof était autrefois un lieu de retraite important au cœur des paysages boisés entourant Bad Berka. Ces forêts étaient considérées comme une oasis de verdure aux portes de Weimar et attiraient les chasseurs des ducs de Weimar, qui venaient y chercher le repos pour le corps, l’esprit et l’âme. Construit en 1786 dans le style baroque, le bâtiment a une histoire encore plus ancienne : c'est à cet endroit qu'aurait autrefois se dressé l'ancien château fort entouré d'eau, premier siège des comtes de Berka. L'Edelhof était également très apprécié des curistes : ainsi, en 1814, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe et son épouse Christiane von Goethe y passèrent six semaines en cure. Depuis 1861, l’Edelhof est étroitement lié à la sylviculture et abrite aujourd’hui l’office des forêts de Bad Berka.
The Edelhof was once an important retreat in the densely forested landscapes surrounding Bad Berka. The forests were regarded as a green oasis just outside Weimar and attracted the hunting guests of the Dukes of Weimar, who sought rest and relaxation for body, mind, and soul here. The building, constructed in 1786 in the Baroque style, looks back on an even older history: it is said that the old moated castle, the first seat of the Counts of Berka, once stood on this site. The Edelhof was also extremely popular with spa guests—in 1814, for example, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and his wife Christiane von Goethe spent a six-week spa stay at the estate. Since 1861, the Edelhof has been closely associated with forestry and today houses the Bad Berka Forestry Office.
